Website said they closed at 6 we walked in with a group of people to sit down and eat just befor 5 and all the chairs were put up on tables as if they were closed already. Took us about 5 minutes to find someone to help with seating/info??? Found someone sweeping in the back and we we told only the bars open untill 6, This place is on BASE!! This would have helped when looking places up too! Thankfully some of us had Military IDs. Great view from the patio. Unfortunately we weren't able to eat here :(

Not worth receiving the attitude from staff.

Why would they be closed on the weekends?? Sad that MWR has taking all the clubs over!

Really sad what this place has become. It use to be a fantastic little gem and the addition of the deck space in the summer was awesome.I’m not for sure if it’s poor COVID recovery or just bad management but it seems to have fallen on hard times. Menu is severely limit. No server to direct you to a table and I honestly couldn’t tell of the place was even open or if it was a private party.Thursday used to be the lobster special night but sadly I just walked away.

Visited Officers' Club as possible wedding venue and stayed for drinks at outdoor bar. The water view is lovely and there is ample space at outdoor bar to relax. The drink offerings were good and prices not extravagant. The bartender and wait staff were very friendly and helpful, letting us sample the wine that would be offered with wedding package. There is a stage where there is live music but no bands were performing at our visit. Umbrellas help keep the sun at bay when at outdoor bar, but block the views from one side of the restaurant for functions.

It seems that the O club has changed quite a bit (as of mid-August, according to a info card on our table). I suspect this is the work of Lean Six Sigma efficiency dilettantes. We went for the Thursday lobster specials (which we’d previously enjoyed on the outdoor deck). Restaurant is now indoors and upstairs (no view to enjoy). We had to pass thru the 1st-floor kitchen area —over wet tile floors—in order to get to an elevator. This set-up is definitely not elderly-person-friendly. Instead of a standard sit-down restaurant service with servers assigned to tables (or a cookout /go-down-the-line format), you now go to one person to get a menu, you give that person your order, and immediately pay at the register, after which you get a flashing “pager.” You grab a table. Once the pager flashes, you then walk to the back of the dining area to pick up your meal(s) from the table where it was dropped off. You get your own soft drinks/lemonade/tea. If you want alcohol, you walk to the bar, stand in line to be served, pay, then bring your purchase back to your table. The employees were nice. The beer is cheap and cold. The food was unexceptional and barely warm. Apparently, the kitchen ran out of cocktail sauce two nights in a row; staff reaction was “gee, sorry.” That is insane for a place with lots of seafood on its menu. I asked for some horseradish and used the ketchup on the table to make my own. The entire set-up was a hassle —I cannot imagine how one adult with young children could manage all of the required running back/forth to the table. Not the place for a relaxing meal. As far as I can recall, this greatly reduced level of service has NOT come with lower menu prices. I will likely not return for a meal as there are many far more enjoyable “sit-down” dining places with better food and normal service to pick from in Newport. This change is disappointing on several levels. Both of my parents served as naval officers...met in Newport, married in the long-gone base chapel, and had their reception at the O Club. They were RI/FL snowbirds but now travel to Newport at once or twice a year and stay for a month. They’ve always looked forward to dinner (or lunch or brunch) at the club, but if it remains as it is now, I doubt they’ll want to go back.

We went on a beautiful Saturday evening and sat on the outside, waterfront deck where there was live music. We got there just after 6:15 and there was already a thirty minute wait to be seated. My date had a red sangria and said it was excellent. She ordered the lobster quesadilla and I had the buffalo chicken wrap and both were excellent. Despite the huge crowd, the service was reasonably fast and efficient. I would definitely go there again....but probably arrive a little sooner. We stayed to watch the sunset and there is probably not a better place in the state to watch it.

They have really done a lot with this place. Great place to grab a bite and a drink. The deck is great and plenty of seating with a fantastic view. Prices are much better than you will get downtown with the same view! Service is good and atmosphere is great.

We ate dinner at the Club in a nice festive atmosphere with life music and a refreshing sea breeze. It was cool! The lobster roll was delicious and the nachos dish chosen by my wife was gigantic!
