Service hasn't improved much; ordered a bagel and coffee. After waiting about 25 minutes, the server tells me my bagel flavor wasn't available. The coffee was barely warm, and at $6 is more than the price of the bagel! It seems that service is much better if spending a lot on a meal. The couple next to me had a huge order; amazing to see it arrive in 10 minutes. There is no reason to treat customers spending less poorly. Apparently, single diners aren't welcome. It's also unkind to leave all the prices for beverages and desserts blank-more greed. I think $6 for coffee is pure greed; more so for old coffee. Very dissapointing!

Went for a bagel and coffee; service hasn't improved much from a previous visit. Waited 25 minutes for a toasted bagel. The server told me they had run out of the type I ordered. Coffee was barely warm, and the second cup didn't seem hot enough; the server brewed a new pot.. The onion bagel was excellent; lots of flavor with onions in the dough. It would be helpful to have ALL beverage prices on the menu! I 'was shocked that a cup of cold brew coffee was $5.95-more than a bagel with cream cheese($3.95)! The dessert case could add a price list also: server didn't seem to know many of the prices. People need a clear price list; it's much better that way. Thanks!

Follow up on first review plus third visit review posted to TripAdvisor: Second visit was to takeaway service....waited over half an hour for 2 bagels, asked where order was, they lost the slip. One bagel out of stock by the time I spoke up, now out of time so asked for a refund. Could do $21 cash only as they really didn't know how to do a refund on the till. Received a gift card as consideration, but Manager was also beyond his depth and I figured I'd just give it to a friend who enjoys the place. I was done. But...plans change, so went a third time.... Third time NOT the charm.... Not getting better: after being seated server kept chatting with a customer for quite a bit before coming over (she told them I won't hold you up anymore), both cups of coffee (original and refill) bitter, lox onion omelette turned out to be a scramble, no jelly available for toast, everything too salty (and I love salt), used gift card from second visit and $20 bill to pay, received incorrect change. Per server their policy is to round the bill as they don't have sufficient coins to make exact change...I asked if they always round in favor of the house...she brought another dollar. I want the food to be better, better trained servers, management that had a menu that had better descriptions, food in stock and enough money in the till of a very busy place to make correct change. Good coffee would be a start. The last time I went I said I'd never go back, but they gave me $18 gift as apology last time and I had an hour to wait for a doctor appointment next door, so what the heck... Will go to the excellent vegan bakery nearby in the future....Wildflower.

RUN (don't walk) to this gem of an establishment. Based on other reviews, it looks like they had a little bit of a bumpy start but boy is their act together now. My boyfriend and I went there this past weekend for a late breakfast and, first of all, the inside is STUNNING. So much thought went into the presentation of the restaurant - it's just a really neat place to be and I found myself looking all around throughout the meal at all of the little details. Service was very friendly and when our server was tied up and couldn't get our drinks back to us timely, another server stepped in to help and brought out drinks to us so we didn't have to wait - gotta love team work. For food, we ordered a few items to split: The Golem breakfast sandwich (delightful), the Blintz (yummy, though I wouldn't mind a bit more filling), and the Pickle Plate (which came with 2 types of pickles -LOVED the half-sour!!!- as well as a vinegary coleslaw that I couldn't get enough of!! SUCH a deal for only $3.50!) Some of the prices might scare you off - but know that the portions (HUGE) and the quality more than make up for it. My boyfriend said that the pastrami (in the Golem sandwich) was "probably the best" he's ever had. On a previous visit (he stopped there to grab some bagels and a couple of cream cheeses to go for us), we tried the Scallion cream cheese (delicious) and the Salmon cream cheese - which was such a star, my boyfriend couldn't get enough of it. We're really looking forward to going back to try some other selections and I'll be bringing a friend there this weekend who's in town from California and has #1 never been anywhere near New England in general and #2 has never been to a Jewish deli - she's super excited to experience it. See ya in a few days, Mavens!

Upon entering mavens looks clean and well put together! The line at the counter went quick with friendly service. I ordered the "Up Street Dip" and it was very good! The price seemed a bit much but the portions you get explain it all!

Came back for a second try. Zero wait, great service, fab food. We got a breakfast sandwich and the challah French toast. Can't wait to come back because this restaurant has totally hit its stride. So glad we came back!

This review has been coming for a long time. Mavens does not deserve my business because they do not value my business. After waiting on the phone for someone to come back and they finally hung up without taking an order, I finally am writing this review. Like everyone, I waited for Mavens to open and was very excited when it did. However, I quickly found them to be very disappointing.1) within the 1st 2 wks of their openingI waited 1.5 hrs in line to find out I could not get sandwich takeout and was given a hand signed coupon to come back. 3) I came back next time with the coupon for eat in service. My order was wrong and had to be sent back 3 times. The 3rd time I was told they were out of what I was ordering and to order something else. When it was time to pay, I presented the coupon. I was told their coupons were different than what I was presenting and questioned whether they would honor it (and that was by the manager who had signed and given the coupon to me!). They did honor it but reluctantly. 4) Next time I ordered online and got there to find out they were out of what I had already for. I live 30 mins away. 5) So, finally today when I called to place an order directly, the first time no one picked up to take an order and it went to voice mail. I hung up and called back again. This time someone answered and asked if I could be placed on hold for 1 min. After around 5 mins on hold, Mavens' phone hung up. My response is this review. I must have a large tolerance for pain but I'm done now. Good luck staying open not valuing your Customer more.Just received a request from the owner to send my contact info. Not sure why. When I was there in person or on the phone and these things happened, no one even tried to correct and the owner was too busy. No need to contact me, as I will not give you my business again. But I do have a suggestion: Make the restaurant experience and its supporting processes Customer-focused. Don't just focus on the restaurant's convenience. Otherwise, you should just serve yourselves.

I was so shocked when my bacon egg and cheese and small coffee rang up as $15.50 that I quickly left a 1 star review. But after eating the breakfast sandwich, I have upped my review to 4 stars, While still expensive, the breakfast sandwich is a meal, if not a meal and a half! They don't skimp on any of the sandwich items. The bagel was well toasted, the cheese was melty and delicious, and there was so much scrambled egg that it was falling out while I was trying to eat. But the eggs were hot and fluffy! This was an eggcelent breakfast sandwich that was brilliantly made, but it will cost you!

Service was excellent. Restaurant was clean. Most of the food was good. Two exceptions: 1. My wife's plain bagel was very tough--hard to chew, hard to cut with a knife. I wonder if it was a day or two old. 2. My corned beef was tasty but cut too thick.

Crazy as it is, I was craving chopped liver. Not familiar with the area of course I Googled it. Mavens popped up. I didn't see it on menu so I called. And yes they served it. Woman very friendly and helpful offering directions. When I got there I was immediately offered a menu and smile. I asked about purchasing the item. She smiled and said she had talked with me and was happy I made it. I ordered the chopped chicken liver and a couple of pastries. The food was more than excellent and the service great. Happily there not far from where I live, so it now is future go to.

Was finally able to give Maven's a try with a takeout order for lunch on a Friday. Got a corn beef Rueben and the potato latkes and they were both phenomenal. At first glance, the price seemed a bit high but for the amount and quality of the food I got I ended up being quite pleased with my purchase. One thing that seemed a little off was that no one was there to greet me as I walked in. I saw the take out counter over to the left and they were helping another customer, so I got in line. Apparently, they had given this customers order to someone else so were scrambling a bit to try and rectify the situation. Because of this, it took them several minutes to get me my order which was already all set for me. Other than that, I thought the interior and decor was very unique and it was very spacious. I look forward to dining in sometime to experience more of the delicious menu!
