We just used Ahava Catering for my son's bar mitzvah weekend and I cannot say enough good things about our experience. Freda was so incredible to work with - responsive, creative, flexible, and reassuring. Everything looked beautiful and tasted delicious. One of our guests asked if we can have another bar mitzvah again soon so they can come back and eat the food again :-) Highly, highly recommend!!

Amazing the food was outstanding. The professionalism from the staff. The event went on without any issues mainly because of the Executive Chef and owner Freda Ronkin. She was poised in the face of what would be generally a very difficult party. I usually don't rate places but this is something special. Ahava Catering provided food for my sons bar mitzvah. People couldn't say enough about how good the food was. She went above and beyond to relieve me of stress that day and make sure everything was perfect. The waitstaff was on top of everything and friendly. She even got extra decorations to enhance our theme. I highly recommend.

I sent this letter to the owner on October 1st and never received a response. I hope to save others from this experience. To Ms. Baer, I wanted to give you constructive feedback on your holiday catering. I had ordered food for RH because I wanted to make the holiday easier for me and satisfying to my family. It ended up being a very stressful experience all-around and not a pleasant way to bring in the new year. I thought about whether I should send this email and decided to because I felt very taken advantage of. 1) I stated straight out that I was unwilling to pay for delivery. We had reached a "midway" compromise and I was shocked when at the last minute you included a charge. 2) The delivery was late on a very busy day. 3) The challah was from Costco and if I wanted to get a Beigel challah, I could have done so easily. When you go to a caterer, you expect a level above. Likewise, the salmon was straight-out of Costco. If I wanted a bag of Costco salmon with a little bit of sauce, I did not need to go with a caterer. 4) I had ordered 2 apple cakes and I received 1 large one...I ordered two because I wanted to separate cakes for two different destinations. 5) The soup and meatball portions though tasty were inadequate for 6 people. I was shocked that most of the meatball dish was a can of pineapple. 6) Squash kugel was yummy. 7) Chicken was unedible. My son and husband thought that it was dry, burnt, and ill-tasting. I hope you will give us a partial refund.

I was in town for the holidays and I was referred to Ahava Catering by a friend. Not only was the food we ordered delicious, Chef Freda was very easy to work with. Her brisket and sweet and sour meat balls we amazing. She made incredible chicken matza ball soup. Her quinoa was outstanding as was her quiche. The whole family loved it, I look forward to ordering from her again.
