If you’re a college student with a craving this is your place. If you have an appetite and crave hibachi there are servers places that won’t give you a kids portion. Food was average and way overpriced. Most of the plate was rice and the staff wasn’t very polite either. Won’t be returning. I ate some meat before the picture to be fair. But not that much

Look no further: This is the best hibachi place in Providence!!! I know, I know. You want to go and celebrate with your friends around a Teppan grill and be "entertainedL by a masterful Chef. Ayame Hibachi's food, however, will put that entire experience to shame. I was extremely hesitant to try Ayame. I've eaten at every hibachi restaurant in the Providence area. (What can I say?! I love Hibachi!) Every other place fails in comparison. Review: The restaurant is located on (hard-to-find-a-park) Thayer Street. There's some stool seating in the restaurant, but it's not ideal for a large party. They have a quite extensive menu. You can choose from traditional hibachi or, if you're in the mood, you can also purchase sushi. (Disclaimer: I have not tried their sushi yet!) Hibachi Chicken & Shrimp (~$18) I wanted to just try this place out, so I stuck with the traditional Hibachi Chicken & Shrimp with a side of Shrimp sauce (or yum yum sauce--depending on where you're from). The chicken and shrimp was fresh and cooked to perfection. I love carbs, especially when they come in the form of fried rice. The fried rice was cooked nice and fluffy. It was also seasoned--one thing that makes this place stand out from its competitors. The service was very good and my wait was approximately 12 mins for my food.

Worst sushi I've ever had, the hibachi dishes are nothing special. Incredibly overpriced for extremely underwhelming food. Recommend anywhere else on Thayer st. for food.

Mmmyeahno. I usually don't review places that r below 4 stars because I feel bad...but hibachi ur special in that way! So my friend and I both got the hibachi steak w veggies (I tried to sub veggies for the rice but they ended up charging me extra for the veggies which sucked but oh well) and we agreed it was okay, meh, decent, average at best but probably wavering a little under that like Atlas carrying the weight of hibachi-land on his shoulders. The steak, I will give to them, was not bad, it seemed like decent quality steak and not terrible. But the veggies - I swear I could make this place better by just - here's an idea hibachi express - use fresh veggies?? They're the kind that r clearly frozen cuz the carrots r those zig zaggily cut ones that don't look or taste like real carrots and there's one piece of broccoli and the majority is a s*** ton of zucchini, all swimming in a nice kiddie pool of soy sauce and water. Listen, it wasn't terrible, the workers seem nice and the idea of express hibachi is admirable, the execution was just lacking. The main thing, was the price - for the amount of money you're spending (~$14), the amount of food you're getting (not much) and the quality of the food does not match up at all. AIRPLANE FOOD! I just had an epiphany- that's what the vegetables remind me of. Okay, back to the price - yeah I'm not paying New York prices for subpar Thayer street hibachi I'll take the Amtrak and go to the city for real goodass food. You're better off going to chipotle or eastside or pretty much anywhere else lmao. Again no hard feelings hibachi - hope u stay alive (but just elsewhere) oop

We had the hibachi chicken and shrimp, the salmon roll, the yellowtail roll, and the eel avocado roll. The salmon and yellowtail were alright, nothing really special. The eel avocado was quite good though. Overall a decent place to get hibachi or sushi. Nice location as well, had a good view of Thayer.

We had the veggie and chicken combo with noodles and it was honestly some of the best we have tried. Tons of flavor! Will definitely come back.

Great tasting fresh food, good portions

Comfort Asian fast food that's satisfying. Nothing to rave about. I like that the food isn't greasy and that the cooked veggies were tasty. We ordered Hibachi chicken & sushi. Everyone gave them a 4 out of 5. The Hibachi soup is flavorful, but needs salt--well priced at only $1.99.

The service is great! Very friendly and speedy. I had a few questions about the menu and the cashier was quick to help! The sushi deals are amazing and the spicy salmon roll was delicious. The hibachi steak was extremely fresh and cooked to perfection, and the gyoza is some of the best I've had. I've already gotten it several times this week! Definitely give this place a try!
