Food was great. I've gotten cocktails from here before and they weren't great so I did wine this time. The wine was good but quite the small wine pour. The service was just not great though. Our waiter really didn't seem to care and checked us when the food was done. We were going to get dessert but by the time he finally cleared our plates and asked, we just wanted to go home. I also felt like I was waiting for water all night. Asked for it the beginning and took forever to bring it. I asked for a refill and he didn't do it. I asked again and finally got more water. The food was good but salty and I drank my second glass of water. He didn't even bother to look or ask for a refill. I read through the Google reviews and seems to be a consistent theme of poor service. I am grateful for a creative plant menu though.

The food at Blu Violet was amazing! We tried a couple of the vegetarian small plates, and the combination of flavors was terrific! Our server was super nice and friendly as well - although, he got one of our dishes wrong, and we didn't actually realize it until the end. What he selected for us instead, by accident, turned out to be really good, which is why we didn't notice. All of that said, the small plates are rather pricey for not containing any meat - all $16-$20+. Similarly, the mocktails were the same prices as the cocktails - odd since they didn't contain alcohol. My biggest complaint is lack of ambience. It's the top floor of the Aloft hotel, which is fine, but the lights were on so bright, it felt like a conference room instead of a cute little restaurant serving delicious food. If they figured out the lighting in there, it would be amazing!

Get ready for a loud DJ music brunch. It was difficult to talk over but maybe fine for a younger set. Also loud inside so there was no escape from the rap.

This rooftop is a fun and beautiful place. Unfortunately, the cocktails and the food were just bad. We had the Daylight Savings and Sage It Ain’t So cocktails. Both tasted like there was no alcohol at all. I know alcohol is expensive, but at city prices, people expect 1.5 to 2 ounces at least. Otherwise the sage drink was just shrub and citrus, and the Daylight drink was total coffee flavor. Both were totally out of balance, and seemingly no thought was spent on how to craft the cocktails to mingle flavors with balance and nuance. The arancinis tasted like they were stuck in the back of a freezer for months, then heated in a microwave. They felt and tasted more like mushy cardboard than the warm, seasonal treat I was expecting. Maybe it was an off night, or maybe they think that the rooftop is so cool that they don’t need to pay attention to the quality of food or drinks.

If you’re looking for a nice rooftop spot, this place nails it. Great downtown views and a beautiful setup inside. We just came for drinks—service and vibe were on point, but the drinks weren’t made how we expected. Still worth the visit for the ambiance alone.

The food was no good at all!! Terrible taste! Service was slow, wine glasses had lipstick stains on them. Would not recommend!

My parents and brother were in town visiting so we stopped in here to try it out for dinner. The food was all excellent (crostini apps, mango sticky rice eggroll app, gnocchi entree, salmon entrees). The view both indoors and from the outdoor seating was spectacular ONCE the sun set; otherwise we were partially blinded by the sun and the lack of shade curtains. The service was slow and they admitted being understaffed. I agree with some other reviews about the music - this could have been better with more positive vibes. Let me emphasize again, though, just how good our food was.

Loved the food! It was delicious. The peach chicken sandwich could serve two, it was that substantial! I recommend! 4 people ate for $100. That's pretty reasonable. And the outdoor seating gives you a nice view of Providence.

Poor excuse of a bar. No cider, plenty of crap American wine though. Slow service and limited options for food. About the only thing it has going for it is the view gimmick.

Honestly was skeptical coming here based on prior reviews and oh my, SO HAPPY I did not do dinner reservations and let this be an impromptu afternoon drinks visit instead.

Service was horrible. They need to train their staff.

- drinks took straight up 30+ minutes to come. Only 3 other tables were seated. We asked for wine & a martini. Two drinks that essentially are made when you just open the bottle and pour it into a glass

- waitress did not understand what “served up” means or how the drinks are presented. Normally I’d be fine with this if the drinks didn’t cost $18-22 each. Do not charge $20 a drink if you can’t train your staff on basic cocktail knowledge.

- overall atmosphere was unexciting. Furniture and ambiance was like taking lawn chairs and metal tables and throwing them on a roof.

Go to Rooftop on the Providence G instead. That’s what we did and had a BLAST!!!

Just finished dinner at this ‘restaurant’ returned home and all I feel is nauseated, ants running under my table, food was doused in flavouring that wanted to mask the terrible fare. Will never eat there again. Waiter Brian was apologetic, so sad for him because he was not the ‘cook’ don’t believe chef exists. Find a better place to dine! This was worst than a roadside gas diner, even that would be better, more turnover of the food, not worth one star.

No idea how this place doesn’t have higher reviews. The food and cocktails were phenomenal. Flexible with making certain plates vegan. The pesto gnocchi is to die for. Highly recommend.

We stay at the Aloft for work, so this is my second time eating here. Both times have been awesome. The venu has nice views of the city. They have sitting at the bar, high top sitting, table sitting, and outdoor sitting in the pario. According to the bar tender, the chef changes the menu for each season, and the food is amazing. The last time I ate here, I had their fish dish. It was a white fish with Israeli couscous, green beans, and a lemon sauce. This time around, it was a more Asian centric style menu. So, I ordered the Thai Basil beef skewers (Fresno chili + thai basil marinated flank steak, grilled + served with spicy sweet chili glaze, toasted sesame seeds, garlic + lime gel) and the Yuzu BBQ chicken katzu sandwich (Panko crusted chicken thigh, pickled watermelon + napa cabbage slaw, yuzu bbq sauce, grilled brioche bun, served with a side of kimchi fries). The skewers were cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. But the sandwich, it was a delight to bite into it. I was a happy fat kid. If you stay at the Aloft or want a rooftop view, come here for dinner and enjoy yourself.
