Good for America. Way too bitter. It should be just Colombia and Ethiopia and not French roast. Oh well, you can't beat the culture and public opinion easily. Overall - good. $6 for flat white. Yes, they have a restroom, it's just behind the ordering counter.

I have been coming here to meet my friend from Boston for 30+ years, or come in just to grab a cup of joe and read the alt weekly. Got here early today to grade papers before my friend arrived only to find out WIFI is available Monday through Friday only. Cannot grade anything. Huge inconvenience and waste of my time. I'm actually supposed to be grading projects and emailing students who, based on their project grades, will be exempt from taking the final exam next week. Instead I am just sitting here getting Zero work I had planned to do accomplished. I will actually NEVER come here again when I could have gone to any other coffee shop and gotten my work done. Coffee Exchange, you have lost a lifelong customer.

The coffee was good, but the service was not good. I waited around 20 mins for my latte, which is not a big deal, but it was strange that the two men behind me got their drinks within a couple mins, in fact, the whole line behind me got their drinks well before mine came out. And when it did, neither me nor my friend had our names or orders called out, even though the cashier asked for my name and I spelt it out for him twice. It may have been because it was quite busy and chaotic in there, but it seemed strangely intentional, as they finished both me and my friends order at the same time, despite them ordering about 5 mins after me.
As far as the atmosphere, its a cute old building, but its quite cold and loud inside, making it difficult to do work. Also the pastries are really bad. My croissant was bland and tasted old. I would not recommend the food.
I would not go back, as the treatment from the staff, and some of the patrons (based on the conversations I was overhearing) made me a bit uncomfortable in there.

Lovely local place to hang out and sit down - the coffee on the other hand is just not that good, everything just tasted rather bland - the coffee lacks complexity unfortunately.
Would recommend as a great place to hang out in the area if you are happy with rather middle of the road coffee

Always crowded and hard to find a table. People come in the morning and set up their computers, so if your meeting a friend for a mid morning coffee, there is no place to sit. If I was them, I would make the downstairs area for short term patrons only.

Amazing place. During the Brown Campus shooting, the cafe provided shelter for everyone who was close to the area. Staff was incredibly considerate and kind, kept calm and professional during a very tense and tragic couple of hours, the owner bought food for everyone stuck in the café during lockdown. Honestly touched by their show of care for the community.
