My boyfriend and I went here for my birthday dinner and absolutely loved it! Chef Armando truly makes the experience such a warm, welcoming visit. I tell everyone when they visit Providence to come here.
I have been wanting to try this place for a while. I'm so glad I did. Everything was delicious. We went for dinner. I cannot wait to return and try the brunch. The mushroom cream sauce with the ravioli was to die for.
Great evening as always, appreciate the special attention Chef provides to each table. Can't wait to go back.
Great meal. If you cannot decide what you want - try the Armando Experience. The courses and pairings will not disappoint.
Many restaurants promise a special dining experience but don't fulfill that promise. Dolce & Salato does. It is a truly unique and wonderful dining experience. The food is amazing!! And Armando is so engaging. It is a small restaurant that allows Armando to interact with his customers and treat them like family. We took a friend there for her birthday. She is quite an oenophile. So when Armando said that there was no wine list; that once you told him what you liked he would choose a wine for you, I was a little concerned. To my surprise she loved what he chose!! So much so that she bought two bottles of wine as Christmas gifts before we left. My friend said the Cacio e Pepe was the best she had ever had. My eggplant parmigiana was also the best I had ever had. The sauce tasted so fresh and homemade. Unlike any sauce at most restaurants. This my sound like hyperbole, but it is the simple truth. Dine there and see for yourself!
It truly pains me to write these words, as I always hope to share encouragement and praise rather than criticism. I am a firm believer in the saying, “If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all,” but in this case, I feel compelled to share my experience in hopes that it might help Dolce and Salato thrive in the future.
Last night, our party of four arrived with genuine excitement to discover your restaurant for the first time. We all enjoy supporting new places and were delighted at the prospect of a fresh culinary adventure. Sadly, as the evening unfolded, that excitement gave way to disappointment.
We began with the appetizers—an area where we rarely have cause for concern. The calamari, a signature Rhode Island specialty, was unfortunately quite chewy. The zucchini flower reminded me more of fried mozzarella, and I share this only in hopes that it provides helpful feedback.
Our table, admittedly composed of people with fairly discerning palates, yet always seeking to be gracious and fair, encountered further difficulties. The fish was so off that it had to be sent back, and one guest’s lasagna arrived partially cold. As for my own entrée—the veal, which was the most expensive dish on the menu—it was served on a bed of salad, lots of salad. My first bite was quite chewy, which left me hesitant and, after several careful bites, unable to continue my meal.
I want to emphasize that our goal was not to seek compensation, and while the server kindly removed the fish from our bill, our main wish is for Dolce and Salato to succeed. I sincerely hope these unfortunate missteps are merely growing pains, and that prompt attention will bring the quality of the experience up to match their expectations.
Though this wasn’t the best meal I’ve had, I genuinely wish Dolce and Salato well, and hope they address these issues soon—otherwise, I fear their wonderful potential may not be reached.
Highly recommend Dolce and Salato! Hidden gem! Food was absolutely delicious. There wasn't a crumb left. Husband and son got the lamb chops and I got the summer risotto. Beautifully decorated and wonderful service. The backyard area looks like an oasis in the city.
For the past few months we've been visiting independently owned restaurants to find the best ones in RI and Mass, well, Dolce & Salato just moved to the front of the pack. Food was absolutely delicious and you can tell Chef Armando is putting his heart and soul into everything. We all ordered off the menu, which was fantastic and the table next to us did the Armando Experience (a tasting menu of items Chef discusses with you) and their meal looked great as well. Portions are huge, so it's a solid value. Give Dolce a chance, it's a great spot.
Excellent food and service. Small and cozy ambiance. The Calamari was delicious! The owner/chef Armando is very welcoming and provides excellent personalized service. My husband loved the Osso Bucco.
Food is really fantastic! Will be going back, service was also very good. Really nice date night venue

What could be better? The environment seemed like we're eating at someone's house . The food was absolutely amazing . The chef/owner's hospitality made it seem like we're in his house. Don't stop a Go. Don't collect $200 Make your reservation Then GO to Dolce and Salato!
Outstanding! Food was amazing. The tortellini soup is so delicious. I need quarts of it to bring home. Miss Dan though.
The food was excellent. You gotta love armando the owner he's such a great guy. I must try
We cannot say enough about Armando's restaurant. My husband & I left feeling like family. The focaccia was an angel's pillow. Pasta was perfectly cooked. My husband's clam sauce was so fresh. The sfogliatelle was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Armando made me an incredibly refreshing blood orange margarita. Every flavor in every part of our meal blended so perfectly. Having Armando walking around, chatting, and offering suggestions was the finishing touch to this perfect dining experience. The restaurant is a perfect size with an extremely inviting vibe. Make the Armando Experience at Dolce & Salato your next evening out!
Wonderful food that can't be matched. Every bite is better than the one before. Always look forward to Armando's creations.
