Food was super bland. Portions were small. Prices were high (coming from Boston). 6 tiny dumplings should not cost me $14.
Service was great and understanding though.

First time trying Uyghur food, and it was fantastic! The flavors were unique and delicious, and the service was excellent—attentive and friendly throughout. Highly recommend for anyone looking to try something new!

I used to love coming here, especially for the fish village dish. However, during my last visit, I found out that the dish was no longer on the menu because the head chef had left, and several items had been replaced. The chef who left definitely made a significant difference in the dishes I used to order; they tasted like authentic Sichuan cuisine. My mouth would always be numb, but I kept eating because the food was incredibly flavorful.
Unfortunately, this last visit was a total disappointment. The Sichuan dishes no longer had that mouth-numbing quality, lacked flavor, and tasted more like watered-down chili oil. The service had never been great; the servers always seemed cold and uninterested, but the food used to make up for their lack of warmth.
This used to be my favorite spot for authentic Asian cuisine, but after this last experience, I won’t be coming back.

Samsa filling was unseasoned; one pastry was soggy while the other was hard. Skewers were probably the only decent thing there. Lamb in the polo was dry and flavorless; looked and tasted like it was boiled. Jahunger noodles definitely was not freshly hand-pulled, not spicy, and did not taste like it was cooked with any Sichuan peppercorns. When asking for some chili oil, I got a little dipping dish and was charged for it. Very disappointing experience.

I’ve been living in the area for 6 years and I’ve been coming at jahunger almost every week since it reopened! The food is delicious, the service is attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy. Because it’s so great, the restaurant does often get busy, especially on weekends; there can occasionally be a 20-40 min wait for a table and, as all of their food is home-made daily, some items can sell out on peak days. Years later, this has still never discouraged me from coming as the excellent food and service is well worth the occasional wait.

Nice place & food, but not worth visiting multiple times. First visited this place in the spring & had the original meefan, which was not good. Came back with a bunch of friends recently and got the lamb on dry land which was good, but the appetizers are hit or miss across the board. Service was also very slow for me specifically, all my friends got their dishes but I was waiting an extra 10 minutes for mine. Cramped & awkward seating for large groups.
Vegetarian options: Incredibly limited. You can ask them to substitute the meat in most dishes with tofu but there’s really no true vegetarian dishes.

Authentic XinJiang cuisine in a bistro setting and subtle menu selections. Loving all. Though, caution for the authentic spicy level.
