I understand that Valentine’s Day is an in demand holiday for restaurants and cancelations can be an issue. However my girlfriend came down with the flu and out of consideration for others we decided to delay our plans. Called Mare with over 24 hours notice and explained our situation and they still charged $25 pp to cancel. I understand the policy for people abusing the reservation system but maybe don’t penalize people trying to do the right thing.
Edit: They double charged me to just make this worse.

What an amazing experience!! My boyfriend and I went for Valentine’s Day & it was incredible! Staff was so friendly, food was delicious, drinks were spectacular & the atmosphere was beautiful 💗 Definitely a place for a date to remember 🥰🥰

Classy place where people dress really nice. Not to sound mean but I could make the food better at home it was incredibly bland. Food was way too expensive for what it was, we felt like it was a rip off. Please put salt and pepper on the table and don't make your customers track down the waitress for something so basic and necessary. I fine dine all the time and would never go back here, not worth it. I'm holding back a few complaints but wanted to share my experience. Waitress was knowledgeable.

What a fantastic venue. We booked the Mare Rooftop for a 50th birthday celebration. Not only was the semi- private space the perfect way to surprise our guest of honor, but it comfortably accommodated a party of 25. Simplistic but elegantly decorated. And the food was incredible - everyone complimented their dishes - sirloin cooked to perfection, pan seared chicken, and a salmon to die for. A delectable selection of desserts, too! But what made the night was the staff. Catherine and her team were attentive, kind, and friendly. It was exactly why we chose to host our event here. Through and through , start to finish, the planning was a breeze. Communication was seamless. I highly recommend The Mare for parties or a dinner with family or friends. You won't be disappointed.

We love Mare. It is one of our favorite restaurants in Providence. We love their new winter menu. The food, drinks, staff and location are always great!

When I want consistently well made food, I choose Mare. From the deliciously grilled octopus to the perfect temperature tuna. I tried a cod fish dish they call Madagascar and it was awesome (and I generally don't care for cod). I highly recommend Mare.
