Service wasn't good. One of the members of our party didn't get his food for a while, and when they finally did bring it, it wasn't what he ordered. No apology or anything. Food was okay, except for dessert. Tiramisu tasted like plain cake and was literally frozen in the middle. They gave me a 30% discount on it. Won't be back.

Mokban Korean Bistro is a fantastic spot for a casual meal or a date night. The food is quite tasty, showcasing a range of flavors that are sure to please. However, I found that some dishes could benefit from slight improvements. For instance, the chicken wings we tried were a bit on the soggy side, which detracted from their potential.

Overall, though, I had a great dining experience and would definitely recommend Mokban if you’re in the mood for Korean cuisine. The inviting atmosphere and delicious offerings make it worth a visit!

Wow, this pork belly is perfection. Juicy and fatty but not greasy, with incredible texture. The flavor isn’t super authenticity Korean (not spicy), and panchan are clearly not made in-house, but the dishes are delicious in their own right. Portion sizes are generous too. Don’t miss this spot!

Really cute atmosphere and some of the best korean food I've had in Rhode Island! We had the Kalbi Ssam, Kimchi Pajeon, and Kimchi Jjigae. All were awesome, and we washed down with Makgeolli. The only detractor is we weren't able to get ahold of the server too frequently; but when we did need things the entire staff was helpful and attentive.

Parking: We had to drive around a bit to find a street spot, but there were paid lots with plenty of space (we just didn't want to pay)

An outstanding menu with so many excellent options. I've had a few different things on the menu now and it's all been quality. Outside a good selection of beverages I love their teas. Plum tea is a favorite for sure.

The atmosphere is cozy yet stylish and a great place for a date or just to chow down by yourself. Pricing ranges depending on what you're getting but considering the food quality and being in downtown Providence I think the value is great. Give this a try whether you're new to Korean cuisine or a seasoned fan.

Vegetarian options: Tons of vegetarian sides and a variation of options on their menu. They also ask about dietary restrictions enhancing the options further.

Dietary restrictions: They accommodate respective restrictions.

Pretty good food, but I wish the side dishes included… kimchi. I also don’t know how I feel about automatic 20% gratuity for 4+ parties. But the decor was super Instagram-story-worthy.

We came here for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant is spacious with interesting decor.

I got the spicy Korean beef stew (yukgaejang). It wasn't anything special. It had button mushrooms, which I've never had before in this dish. The soup was decent but it tasted like ramen powder rather than having depth of flavor. In contrast, I thought the army stew (budaejjigae) that my family got had a much more rich and tasty soup. We didn't think the side dishes were anything special.

I also got a pomegranate shaved ice soju drinnk. The shaved ice was more like a snow cone with little chunks of ice rather than smooth ice shavings, so rather than being like a slushie, the ice gradually melted into the drink. It was still yummy, just not what I was expecting.

Overall I think this is a pretty solid option with a good variety of Korean dishes. I'm not sure if I would choose to come back here since it wasn't particularly notable.

You can safely assume that this is the best Korean restaurant in New England. Certified by a Korean, born and raised for 30 years in Seoul ?

Awesome spot for authentic Korean food in Providence! Service, atmosphere and food were excellent! Loved that they had yummy vegan options (we got the jap chae / glass noodles and bibambap / veggie rice in a sizzling stone bowl) that come with vegan side dishes (spicy kale, lettuce salad, pickled radish and mushrooms and onion soup!) It was too early for drinks but they seem to have an extensive bar menu. They also have a cute patio so we could bring our dog to enjoy lunch with us! Highly recommend!

Vegetarian options: They can do vegan or vegetarian dishes, including jap chae (stir fry glass noodles) and bibambap (spicy mixed veggies and rice in a stone pot without the egg). You can ask the server to make sure. For example - they often give kimchi as a side dish but this has fish sauce and they can replace with a vegan dish instead.

Great Korean food with cozy ambiance.

We love all the food except the tofu sesame salad, which can be improved with more seasonings. The tofu stew and pork belly were delicious. I also liked the seaweed salad.

The staff were friendly. I recommend it for anyone interested in some Korean dishes.

K food in Providence? Mokban 목반 (wooden table) is a non-traditional Korean restaurant incorporating some non-traditional ingredients. However, this is not fusion. Each entree is served on an individual mokban accompanied with several side dishes 반찬, which are non-traditional & probably seasonal including chickpeas, edamame (soy beans) out of the pods, marinated broccoli and crunchy burnt rice 누룽지. No kimchi side dish with my entree. Wasn't in the mood for meat so I ordered seafood spicy noodle soup, jjam bbong 짬뽕. Jjam bbong is a Korean Chinese staple comfort food that can be ordered for fast delivery just about anywhere in Korea. It's inexpensive, filling and satisfies the Korean craving for spicy hot soup. Mokban's rendition is traditional yet incredibly delicious, probably the best I've ever eaten. The soup is definitely spicy but the heat has a sophisticated rich delicious flavor. The portion is generous, good combination of seafood & vegetables and al dente noodles. Again, the broth is legit. The flavors were so good that I came back the next night for round 2. Pork belly ssam, tofu/kimchi/spicy pork and sam gye tang (ginger chicken soup) were exquisite. Dessert was no after thought either. Affogato at a K-restaurant? Excellent. Service was courteous and prompt by hard working staff. Interior has an industrial design inside the cavernous loft space. Lounge jazz music, dim mood lighting and well spaced seating indoors and outdoors round out an appetizing experience. Very impressed with the concept, service, quality ingredients, creative menu and refreshing selection of non-traditional banchan. My only negative criticisms: pork belly slices were rather thin and why takeout chopsticks at such a stylish restaurant? Aluminum or stainless steel or better yet copper Korean flatware would've complimented to the food. Street parking is limited and can be challenging. Overall, highly recommended.
