Incredible experience! Staff is absolutely wonderful and patient explaining the menu. I got the African Lovers sampler which allowed me to try Egusi and fufu as well as plantains. We also got samosas and my husband tried the Taushe stew (made with peanuts). Everything was so flavorful and had a bit of spice! We ordered mild and our noses were running but it was great :) It was my first time trying Jollof rice and I can't believe I went my whole life without trying it! My meal also came with tres leches cake which was so good and the fresh juices were wonderful. Cannot wait to come back! Thank you so much for the hospitality, Melanie!

My first time in Providence for the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority conference and I had to try Suya Joint! The décor was warm, welcoming, and beautifully reflected the African-inspired theme. The food was flavorful and well-prepared , the beans had a nice little kick of spice, the sweet plantains were perfectly caramelized, and the white rice balanced everything out nicely. The stew was rich and delicious, and the presentation (complete with the little Nigerian flag!) was a thoughtful touch.
A great spot for anyone craving authentic African flavors with a cozy, inviting vibe. I’ll definitely be back!

I ordered the cassava leaf with rice and I also ordered the palm butter with fufu! If You have had authentic African food you will say this food is OK. It’s not bad but definitely missing something! There are a lot of five star reviews, but I think that’s a lot to do with the people that work there because the food is just OK. The food was very bland, and the cassava leaf was a bit rancid !

So delicious!! I just went here for the first time to get the Vegetarian Egusi stew which is served with pounded yam and the option of chicken and OMGG! The flavors were so good!! I was genuinely in heaven eating the food. I ordered online so I didn’t get much interaction but when I went inside I was greeted so kindly and warm. 10/10 recommend Suya Joint for delicious Nigerian food

I’ve always enjoyed the food from this restaurant, which is why I decided to order takeout again and share it with my friend before we went our separate ways. The restaurant was nearly empty only two customers and plenty of open tables so we sat down to take a quick bite before our Uber arrived.
The host, who was on her phone when we walked in, came over and told us we couldn’t eat inside because our food was ordered to go. I explained that we just wanted to taste it together and weren’t planning to stay long, but instead of handling the situation with any understanding or courtesy, she just walked away.
It was disappointing and unnecessary. There were multiple open tables, and we weren’t causing any disruption. I respect restaurant policies, but there’s a way to enforce them without being rude or dismissive especially to returning customers who genuinely love the food. Unfortunately, the lack of professionalism really soured the experience especially considering how much we pay for the food.
Food may be good, I never got to to taste it, but service is appalling. You can’t reach a human being. I ordered catering yesterday $144 for 3pm pickup today. I never got a confirmation message to tell me food was ready, I called no human being came to the phone. I blindly sent Uber courier to go pick up at 3:30. Uber driver got there and said he can’t go in because he has disability. Restaurant is unreachable, had to cancel uber courier. Money waster. Please refund my money $144. I’m so disappointed

I recently visited The Suya Joint in Providence with my significant other, and the experience was amazing from start to finish. I tried Egusi and pounded yam for the first time, and it was honestly some of the best food I’ve ever had. The dish was incredibly rich in flavor, you could really taste how well the seasonings were blended and how much care went into making it.
Beyond the food, the overall experience stood out. The wait staff were polite, attentive, and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Anytime we had a question, they were quick to help with a smile. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable, adding to the authentic experience.
I’d definitely recommend The Suya Joint to anyone looking to try delicious West African food or simply wanting a meal that feels homemade and full of flavor. I’ll definitely be going back again.
