This is hands down best cafe in Providence. The food, drinks, atmosphere is 10/10. They have a cozy patio to sit and enjoy the weather. I love coming here to have breakfast and a cold brew. I had the pleasure of being served by the manager, Hanna, and she made the experience even better with her friendly personality.

Iced coffee was amazing however service was terrible won't ever come back again. First and last time! I regret leaving a tip only to be treated rudely.

The barista was really friendly and helpful! :) I had the strawberry açaí refresher with green tea. It was pretty good. Nice atmosphere inside, lots of people studying and chatting quietly.

Mid coffee and horrible service, standing there for 10 minutes, waved multiple times, and was ignored. It was not busy inside

This place could be so solid but the service is horrible. It’s generally slow but I decided to give one more try after a first subpar experience. After waiting 15 minutes for our order they forgot one of our drinks. When asked about it we assumed they were making it right away but they made about 4 others before we asked again and were told that they are busy and they’d get to our order “soon”. They were not apologetic and made it seem like our fault. I asked for a refund and won’t return.

Sydney Cafe Thayer Street, is a real find on the otherwise, elegant quality, desolate Thayer Street!!! Other than fast food, there is NO atmosphere, food, and service, found on Thayer Street, which is the commercial heart of Brown University's Campus, EXCEPT HERE!!! Sydney is VERY IVY LEAGUE!!! Thanks, for being there!!!

This was wildly overpriced, especially compared to nearby options. I spent $9+ on a dilute latte and $8 on a stale-tasting croissant. Prices are not displayed on items. Atmosphere was good to do work in, but not worth it. I’m sure they’re dealing with high rent prices, as they seemed understaffed as well. Baristas were nice.

Oats/yoghurt were expired 2 out of 3 times that I got them (it was a few days after expiration and there were multiple of them still on the shelf). I got a refund for the first time but it was unpleasant to find it all expired again the second time I went. Matcha was not mixed well at all - very clumpy, impossible to drink. Other food seemed fine but I don’t think I’ll go again.

Stopped here on a whim after going to the post office next door. They seemed understaffed. I paid $8+ for my drink, which I suppose has become the norm for nice coffee shops around here. Unfortunately, my latte is far from nice — I would describe it as laughably bad.

I guess the food options looked nice, but after this latte I will not be returning for the chance to try them.

The person I ordered from was very friendly.

I wouldn’t recommend Sydney to anyone I know. The croissants were stale, completely inedible. The coffee wasn’t good and the person at the counter wasn’t clear or knowledgeable. I tried to get a macchiato and ended up with a double shot of espresso. Not worth the money.

Fsriendly staff and a charming setting. However, the quality of the food left much to be desired. The croissant, which should have been fresh and flaky, tasted like it was taken straight out of a plastic bag—stale and lacking any real flavor. It’s disappointing for a place that advertises fresh pastries. While the coffee was decent, the poor pastry experience really dampened the overall visit.

So I arrived at the cafe after a workout, super hungry may I add, and my gf and I decided to order the CSI Sydney sandwich as well as a Del’s lemonade. We noticed that a few items on the menu didn’t have a price, including the refreshers, whilst other items on the menu did include a price. I understand if the cafe is trying to cater to a distinct economic class, but regardless of who’s paying for the food, the staff ought to at least have a friendly demeanor instead of being rude. We asked for the price of the refreshers and the cashier gave attitude because we couldn’t understand the price they were saying so she had to repeat herself. Finally, we placed the order at 1:12pm as a dine in option, and sat down to wait for it. After a few minutes, my drink was ready, as well as the ones from other customers that came before us; interestingly enough though, a customer named Emily, who came in after us got up to get her drink and also happened to grab a sandwich on the counter—even though the cashier didn’t call out anyone’s name for the food. Now, I understand that I ought to judge people out of pure ignorance instead of malice, so I pretended to not notice that the sandwich she grabbed was the CSI Sydney one. A few minutes later I went up to the counter to wait for my sandwich there since other customers had come in after us were handed their food on the plate, whilst I was still waiting for my food. The cashier told me that she would like it if I could sit down since she would yell my name when the food was ready, so I obliged, even though I realized she hadn’t called out any name when my sandwich was up on the counter. At 1:32, I went up to go check on my food since I thought that 20mins for a sandwich was long enough, and at the same time, the cashier kept calling out for Emily, who ordered a BLT, and was sitting by the window, pretending not to hear her name being called, even when the cashier walked outside with her food, Emily continued to eat my sandwich and also stare at the menu, where I only hope she realized that the ingredients she had scarfed down weren’t the same ones as the one she ordered. So I take my receipt up to the food counter and the cashier tells me that my sandwich is ready, and I look at it, and it’s the BLT and not my CSI Sydney, so I refuse to touch it(I’m kosher and cannot eat pork). She then proceeds to yank the receipt out of my hand and check with the cook to see what happened to my order. I ended up explaining to them that their customer Emily took my sandwich, and pretended to be dumb when they were calling her name for the BLT sandwich. So finally after all this, they call my name for my food and I see that it’s placed in a to go container with napkins. Not only was I not dining in like I asked, Emily got my sandwich as well as the BLT that the cashiers placed into another to go container as well, but all of this could’ve been avoided if the staff weren’t as rude and condescending as they were when they told me to go wait for my food at my seat, since I would’ve been able to prevent Emily from taking my sandwich in the first place instead of just helplessly watch her eat it as she scrolled away mindlessly on her computer. I understand that it’s just unfortunate that Emily decided to eat my sandwich, not apologize for taking my food by mistake, and then pretend to not know what was going on the whole time while staring at the menu, her computer, and my sandwich, but if the staff are going to yell when the food is ready while expecting no one to stand hear the trash and utensils, they should at least be consistent and don’t for all items and not just those they see fit.
