The restaurant is welcoming, service, exemplary, food, delicious, good portion, size, and overall enjoyable experience from beginning to end!
I wanted to love it. Went for thanksgiving. The portions were absolutely tiny. Like kids sizes. Turkey was dry , a tbsp at most of cranberry and a tiny portion of potato's. Stuffing was good though. Green beans burnt and not edible. Son got chicken parm. Dry. We were charged for a meal we didn't order and left hungry. I truly thought it was a mistake I'm Portions but as I looked at fellow disappointed diners I saw that wasn't the case. The Musiic was also bizarre. Almost like techno type. We will not retun
Atmosphere was great. Got seated took about 25 minutes to get drinks, then almost an hour to get appetizers that ended up being cold. Then our entrees took another 25/30 minutes after receiving the appetizers. Food was good but for the price dishes are very small. Could get better food, and more food for the same price at Marchettis.
Waiter did comp out apps because they were cold and took forever so that was a plus.
My daughter and I had an unforgettable dinner at Trattoria Appia in Providence. The service and food were off the charts! Our server Gianni was friendly, helpful, and guided us to the best choices.
We both ordered the homemade Gnocchi Alla Nonna, which was perfectly tender and full of flavor. For dessert, the Tiramisu was heavenly — light, creamy, and the perfect finish.
Between the authentic Italian dishes, welcoming atmosphere, and outstanding service, Trattoria Appia truly stands out. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience in Providence!

Such a lovely space and extraordinarily gracious service! It was a pleasure to dine there, and especially grateful for a business lunch location open on a Monday on the Hill. Lunch for two was more expensive than anticipated - guess that fresh pasta upgrade was pricey!
We had a reservation for 7. We were seated at 7:30. Our order was taken at 8 and the food arrived at 8:40. It was bland and watery. The saltimbocca alla romana had a breaded cutlet, like a milanese. Rome and Milan on the same plate. Who runs this place?
We hadn't been to the restaurant in a while. The place was packed. We were seated in a back corner and I was definitely concerned we would be forgotten where we were sitting. It took about 17 minutes for someone to come to the table (though the boy who poured water did come to provide water quickly). They brought us bread which looked like broken pieces (cracked and falling apart). Took another 15 minutes to order our food. The Ceasar was sad. I could make something way better and it was TINY. The swordfish was excellent- it's why I'm giving this review 3 stars. When the waitress came to get our dessert order we declined. The entire experience made me never want to return except for the swordfish.
Came here for our anniversary last night. Our server Tyler was so sweet, and food pretty good. We had a reservation (under Mike carey) so once we got through the very slow
line at the hottest desk, we were seated quickly. From that point the service was very slow. I wasn’t setting a stop watch so I can’t give you specific timing and after reading the proprietors responses to these reviews, I don’t care to guess. However everything took way too long, from Drink refills, bread and water, our actual order, even the bill at the end, way too long. As a former server I noticed some nuances in how they run this place. I wonder if the servers have sections or rotate tables? The only time I saw Tylor was when she was at our table, I never saw her serving our surrounding tables, this maybe why it took so long for everything. The food runners were very confused as to what table ordered what which made me wonder if they don’t use table numbers? Or was it that these awkwardly closely arranged tables were quickly placed to accommodate more party’s then this kitchen could truly handle in effort to make more money but by sacrificing quality and service? Our meals were not bad, I had the chicken parm which was good but the sauce had a funny taste to it, either way I was starving and ate most of it so it couldn’t have been that bad, my husband said the same about his pizza, I didn’t bother to try it, didn’t look appealing!
We didn’t mention anything to the manger because literally every table around us had already done so and it didn’t seem to help them at all. On top of that we were celebrating our anniversary, we didn’t want to focus on anything negative. I am not looking for a gift card or a refund or anything like that. I’m hoping this review is read without defensiveness and changes can be made so that your hard working staff can be set up for success instead of disappointment. I will say the artwork throughout the restaurant is beautiful, and bathrooms were nice and clean.

This was our 5th visit to the restaurant and it has progressively gotten worse with food quality as well as the hostess experience. The highlight of our dinner was our waitress, Tyler, who was wonderful and apologized for the delays and even took a few things off the bill. That said, I have never had a hostess upon check-in ask me “how I made my reservation”. When I responded “open table” she said “oh, you should have called instead so we could tell you a better time to come”. What? We waited patiently to order recognizing that the dining area was overflowing with extra people and tables. It took 2 hours to get our food and one of the pasta dishes was undercooked and cold. Although someone came by to explain that restaurant was short staffed and it was parents weekend, it was of concern that you would take that many reservations. I hope this feedback is helpful.
The service and time we waited was kind of unacceptable. We had a reservation and waited an hour and a half to get our food. The waitress was nice but had way too many tables to take care of. We also ordered a crème brûlée to go, and when we got home and opened it, it looked like soup. Keep in mind we were only about a 12 minute drive from there. I don't think crème brûlée should just melt like that either. Overall, I don't think I would go here again.
Sat at the bar. Service, drinks and food outstanding. Manager stopped by (I believe her name was Brittany) to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Great experience from start to finish.
