Finally stopped in to check this place out after a long day at the beach with my kids, restaurant was very clean, they have indoor market and also an outdoor ice cream stand. Really cute place, menus are very diverse, and we were greeted by a welcoming staff. This will be our new summer spot for sandwiches, ice cream and more.

My friend and I came upon this spot this past weekend. Menu is well done, fresh artisan sandwiches, most likely a very experienced owner and chef. Kind of a mountain cabin decor, wide open space, indoor market and also a large outdoor dining area. Our lunch featured fresh ingredients and the woman who waited on us was very polite. This spot I highly recommend.

Ground Water Café is a fantastic spot with a cozy vibe and friendly staff. The food is fresh and flavorful, and the coffee is top-notch. A perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal!

My son and I ate here it was awesome and one of the only places open in the morning wen I stumbled upon it. Very friendly clean and exceptional service and with a huge smile 😁 even got greeted by the worker definitely a hidden gem off the beatin path.

First time here last night. Cute little place. One 1/2 is a small market the other is the restaurant. They have a bar and a few tables to eat at.
Music was nice but too loud for a small establishment.
Menu was decent but slightly overpriced for a few items.
Meatballs were tasty.
Avocado streetcorn great concept but difficult to eat.
Brisket & veggies I could take it or leave it.
Potatoes were ok.
Spicy chicken kabobs had flavor but dry. Risotto was good though.
Ahi tuna my husband enjoyed.
Overall spent 120.00.

Normally, I don’t write reviews—unless the service was either exceptionally good or exceptionally poor. In this case, unfortunately, I would have to say the service was exceptionally poor. My boyfriend and I were nothing but kind and patient to the staff, of who were, for the most part, great. However, the girl who brought our food out to us was beyond disrespectful; no eye contact was made, no smile, no warmth—just “do you need a bag?” And then proceeded to throw our food into the bag sideways and walk away without so much as another glance or response. I think this was my biggest gripe about my experience because I can’t understand what my boyfriend and I did to warrant such rudeness.

Also, as somebody who used to live and work in both Cape Cod and Newport, the prices at this cafe are beyond what I thought reasonable. The food was fine, but not so good that it would meet the total price point of $55 of which I would probably spend at a sit-down restaurant for dinner. I’ve never seen a cafe with prices so high before, for food that does not fit the description of “different” or “premium” (as in, asking premium prices for food that is not premium). So much of the foods on the menu are also sold and made elsewhere for far more affordable price, like the mushroom latte or the Caprese Panini (~$16?!). Also, I cannot understand why it’s a ~$10 add-on charge for protein like chicken?

In any case, this is a cute spot with a great atmosphere, but service and prices leave much to be desired. Because of my experience here, I can’t say I will ever recommend this spot to anybody I know, nor will I be returning.

Groundwater started as a little coffee/ice cream shop and is rapidly expanding. I go there for breakfast/coffee, but you can get tea, local food items, some produce in season, babka, ice cream, and they've expanded to tapas and dinner with drinks for evenings. There's a fridge case where you can pick up the milk (this is a bit of a rural area) and get take home dinner items, too.

Groundwater is the kind of place where they'll know your name and you can make suggestions and find it on the menu one day.

We had dinner here recently with our daughter and 2 grandchildren. If a 4.5 rating were available, that’s what I’d give. But I don’t do ratings of 5 unless there are no problems at all. The tapas selections were all delicious and there was a great variety available. I especially liked the brussels sprouts, and the avocado stuffed with ricotta, pistachios, and cranberries. But, the skewered chicken was marred by incompletely cooked risotto (still a little crunchy in the middle). And the water glasses were really small, requiring frequent refilling. Service was friendly though a bit slow and disorganized. There are local food products available for sale in a small area as you enter and it was fun to browse through them. I am looking forward to returning here in the future!

We just hosted our baby shower here this past Sunday and they did an amazing job making sure we were all set and had everything we needed the entire time. The staff was very friendly and attentive. During the planning Sabrina was wonderful and so kind and answered all my questions. I’d def recommend for events and of course for a place to casually eat as well!! All the food was very tasty 🤗💚 and all my guests were saying how beautiful the restaurant is!

Friendly and amazing owners and wait staff. Lovely and cozy atmosphere, selling local and RI products. Their regular and tapas menus are unique and delicious. You go once, you’ll keep going back for more!
