The poke bowl may be the best plate of food I’ve ever had.

We were driving through Rhode Island and remembered the excellent dinners we had at Matunuk oyster bar a few years ago. Decided to stop in for lunch and found out about the fire- but the new set up was great and the food as good as ever!

A very enjoyable afternoon under the Matunuck Oyster Bar tent! 🎪 Beautiful atmosphere - the tent is very pretty, nice furniture, 2 marble topped bars and floral decorations make it seem like a permanent restaurant. There is only valet parking right now and thankfully the young men know how to drive stick shift (to my surprise!). We started with some steamers and some Matunuck raw Oysters. The oysters were perfect without any toppings or sauce. Unfortunately they were out of the planko octopus 🐙 which I really wanted to try and also out of all cooked oysters on the appetizer menu. We opted for the fried oyster platter and a lobster roll. The fried oysters were so delicious...very plump, clean tasting and savory. The lobster roll was a very decent size for $29. Overall the prices were good. Cocktails hit the spot, very refreshing and complemented the seafood well. Looking forward to visiting the new restaurant once it's built, but the temporary location across the street under the tent is very nice!

Made the hour and a half drive from CT last Sunday to relive the experience of savoring one of the best lobster rolls I've had when I visited for the first time on a work trip last year. It was just as good as I remembered. Staff was extremely accommodating and the food and drinks came quicker than expected given how busy they were. This place is an absolute gem.

I was shocked to find out about the fire that engulfed the place just two days after I visited again. I'm glad no one was hurt but it definitely sucks to hear it happen to such a great restaurant. I hope they can make a recovery, I will definitely be back again.

It was the best restaurant this area ever had, and you bet I’ll be there if they reopen.

i have goosebumps as i reflect on my experience visiting matunuck exactly 3 days before this fire. been in rhode island almost 4 years and matunuck has been a bucket list item for a long time. finally got over on a lovely afternoon with perfect weather and my friends. we went in between meal times (2pm ish) and were seated promptly on the deck with a perfect water view. they had outdoor heaters and kept adjusting them according to the winds. our server was hilarious and relatable, she made it so fun to dine here. a couple managers came by to ask us how everything is tasting and thanking us for coming. they were wildly busy given its commencement season but still put so much personable effort into the dining experience. i didn't know who the owner was by face but when i saw all the news coverage this morning about the fire, i realized one of the managers who had stopped by our table to check on us was perry. how humble and hospitable. the food was amazingggg. i have a habit of getting a big boiled lobster and enjoying the process of eating with my hands. they got me a bib and went out of their way to give me latex kitchen gloves and i went to town. they season the water the lobster is boiled in because i did not need to salt and pepper every bite. mashed potatoes slapped. my heart goes out to them and really can't wait for a reopening. will be back!!!!

We're all genuinely heart broken to hear of the horrific fire that consumed this wonderful place! There are few hometown, seaside establishments that conjure memories of succulent seafood, quality ingredients and stellar management. Matunuck Oyster Bar was clearly at the top of the list~! We're sincerely hopeful the owners can rebuild! This place is a historic landmark by now, we're so hopeful they had good insurance and can start again.

Awesome fresh seafood, with oysters as the star! Busy and crowded so a bit loud. Definitely make reservations, you won't get in otherwise. Drinks solid, food delish, and service is great. If you don't love seafood, there's only a burger, chicken sand and steak and salad as alternatives. Gf and a couple of vegan options.
