“Our second stop on our Saturday Taco crawl took us to Maiz. The shop was decked out for the Halloween season. Inside the place reminds you of a Mexican cantina. Brightly colored flags adorning the ceiling contrasted the sand colored wall. Our server was very nice, letting us know what our options were for the fight. I chose to upgrade mine to pastor tacos as they are my favorite type. My friends got a Birria taco, a shrimp taco and the carnitas taco. It didn't take long before our food arrived. Fresh and hot, we quickly dived in. The pastor was flavorful, a slight char taste that made the whole thing sing a symphony for my taste buds. The shrimp taco was particularly good as well. The shrimp was succulent and the addition of the pineapple took it to the next level. The Birria meat was tender and juicy. The carnitas was a solid choice as well. Their homemade hot sauce, mild or spicy, on the side. All washed down with ice cold Mexican coke. Another taco spot in the books as a place to return. We only live 9 minutes away so it's a sure thing for us!”

The craft beer that is better than you find at other brew pubs. Awesome variety. I left my phone there and management was incredibly helpful in coordinating a time for me to pick it up. “I Love “Mom and Pop” coffee shops and discovered this one almost accidentally over a year ago. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The baristas are professional and sweet and will help decide if you want everything 🙋‍♀️. We stopped by today after my son’s dentist appointment and as busy as it was (very) the owner still took time to chat about life, family, work, New England and kids. We discovered we both have sons named after the famous Hayden Christensen - Darth Vader. Good people, cozy atmosphere, GREAT coffee - highly recommend. *Bonus* they have love for the military. 🇺🇸❤️”

“We stopped in here randomly on our way to the Farmer’s Daughter Fall Festival. It was such a good experience it’s now part of our tradition. Our girls remembered, a year later, how much they enjoyed it. Allie’s has great food and service. And it starts at the top. The owner takes a lot of pride in the place . While we were there he came out and asked everyone if we were enjoying the food. And before I left he shook my hand and remembered who I was (from a year ago). The place is adjacent to a college campus (I went to URI so I found it reminiscing as I drove thru) so you might not think of it for a meal out with your family. But you should. And the prices are really fair for the portions you get. This is a business we need to support. We WILL return. At least once a year and more if possible.”

“(update July '26: few changes so far post sale to some larger restaurant group. Menu updated and a fraction shorter, I think. Roasted red peppers no longer available as a burger topping and the bacon seemed thinner. Staff kept apologizing about what seemed to us a perfectly reasonable wait for the food ordered after 8pm on a weeknight; I hope new management isn't causing too much stress.)

Our most frequent choice for dinner when neither of us wants to cook and we're out of leftovers. Good variety of food; preparation and flavors are consistently better than average compared to other pub/restaurant places we've visited while traveling. The main dining room can get a bit loud when full.”
