So glad we stopped here. The space is beautiful, and the seasonal martini was worth it alone, but the food was excellent as well.

First time there and very lovely place. Nice decor. The server was kind and the food was excellent. All our drinks were delicious as well. We had the ricotta, Butternut squash soup, the skirt steak, chicken, and duck salad, which were all amazing. The soup especially was one of the best we had. Our food came out at a good pace, but the restaurant was mostly empty during our stay. We will definitely be back!

Well, they apparently fixed the service issues and the food was simply outstanding. From the butternut bisque to the duck and shrimp dish, simply excellent. Prices are a bit steep but they are certainly paying attention to the preparation of the plates. It’s at least worth a try.

GE $$$— Plain & Simple
Absolutely charming restaurant, the interior is so lovely and inviting and we had great service too. The food was delicious and creative. I had the chilled corn soup which was great and the crispy chicken which was so crunchy and while simple, it executed to perfection. Looking forward to coming back - would be a great cozy spot in the winter too.

The decor is charming and inviting. My bartender Isabella was lively and personable. I can’t wait to bring my friends.

Food was delicious, could tell the Chef has put thought into the menu, preparation and presentation and the food healthy. Dina our server was perfect and cared about our experience. We ate outside, and enjoyed people watching downtown. The decor is so beautiful (love the William Morris wallpaper.)

Good food, but service issues. Unfortunately, like many other lower reviews mention, the service was slow and inconsistent. We waited an hour and a half after ordering before our meals arrived, while nearby tables who ordered more than 30 minutes after us were served first. The most disappointing part was the lack of acknowledgment—just a repeated “it’s coming” from the server, with never an apology or explanation. A decent meal ended up being overshadowed by slow, inattentive service.

My first time (spouse’s 2nd) at a Bird in Hand. Experienced none of the wait issues others have stated so looks like reservation system and staffing is corrected. Our server, Dino, was knowledgeable, fun and paced our drinks and food perfectly. Cocktails are well balanced and food is seasonal and really well done - we had the duck and the cavatelli, both worth it and lobster spaghetti is great too. Great atmosphere, decor and service. Glad we have another “goto” restaurant in Westerly.

Restaurantji Recommends
This gem of restaurant in Westerly RI is worth knowing about. The vibe and decor is so sublime and inviting. We ordered excellent cocktails, shared a variety of dishes around the table, had lots of laughs, received great attention from the staff, and thoroughly enjoyed a beautiful meal that will not be soon forgotten. Kudos to the chef - my personal favorite was the Chimichurri steak -those smashed potatoes!!! So good.

What a nightmare experience. We had a 6:30 reservation and finally walked out at 8:30 still very hungry. It took a half an hour to get our drinks another 45 minutes to get 3 salads a bowl of chilled soup and a small pot of mussels. One salad was served with a long course black hair in it. The replacement salad was delivered 20-30 minutes later after multiple requests. A recommended side order of bread never came until we nagged the servers. There was no communication regarding the delay. No one came to clear the table after our appetizers. A talk with the manager resulted in no solutions and not much communication. At 8:15 the server came back to ask us to remind her of what we ordered. There was no explanation by the manager and so we advised the owner that we would be leaving. He offered no explanation said our food was being prepared at 8:30. 1st and last time at bird in hand. Stay away really unbelievably horrible experience.

Not sure what happened here last night. One waitress for the whole place. Everyone around us was annoyed because everything was taking so long. Like the other poster it took 1.5 hours to get food. We ordered different burgers but when they came we both got same burger. So thy got my order wrong Both were dry and inedible and the cheese was just slapped on top. I watched the one bus boy cleans the table next to us and put all the crumbs onto the chair and leave it there. The waitress kept saying sorry but no management came over to any of the surrounding tables. The folks next to us walked out. Not sure what was happening in the kitchen but if you don’t have staff or a chef don’t open. If they don’t get it fixed they won’t survive.

We waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for our dinner to be served. The dinners were not large portions and were ok, nothing memorable. We were offered a free dessert for such a long wait, but we were in such a hurry to leave as we had another event to attend, that we just asked for the bill right when the dinners were finally served.
We saw a table of four get up and leave since they sat for about 20 minutes without putting in even a drink order. I will not be back. Disappointing.
