Arrived on a Saturday night and the place was not busy. Too bad because this restaurant has really good food. The shrimp with garlic was wonderful AND the tails were removed so no mess or fuss to eat. The cheese steak fajita was also quite good. Very nice staff and very good food. Prices are decent. What more can you ask for?

Extensive menu and pretty good margaritas (a little too sweet for my taste). Chili Rellenos very good and the refried beans were excellent. Tacos were served with fresh lettuce and tomatoes.

El Mercadito is that delicious Mexican restaurant you’re always looking for when you get to a new city. From the complimentary chips and salsa to their queso, to everything else on their menu is fantastic and appropriately priced. The service is always fantastic and the food comes out very quick (within 10-15 minutes or so). They are also taking Covid precautions very seriously. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area. I go with my family 1-2 times a week and we never regret it. Do yourself a favor and be a regular at this place.

Good service and tasty food. Watching the Spanish stations on the TV is very interesting. I do miss the #7 Lunch Special, burrito, salad, beans & rice.

We went to El Mercadito with friends for lunch on a weekday. They were quick to bring us chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were good. The salsa was a little runny but had a good flavor. We liked that they served both a mild and spicy salsa. The chips were thick and crunchy and not greasy. I had a very good 27-ounce margarita and for only eight dollars it is a bargain! I ordered a special that included a taco and a chili relleno. The Taco was fine but the Chile relleno was very disappointing (my dining companions agreed). It was one like I have never had before. Instead of a cheese-filled poblano pepper, it was just a piece of green pepper laid overtop a pile of ground beef. It was just OK. The food on my plate look like the food ham Taco Bell, but it actually tasted better than it looked. My wife had the chicken fajitas and they were very good. The service was friendly enough. I’d return if I were back in the area

A short drive from Kiawah Island and not far from Angel Oak- we were happy to happen upon this little gem! Good food, friendly service- perfect combo!

We eat Mexican regularly everywhere we go. This place honestly ranks as one of the best. During our week in Kiawah we ate here three times!! Their sauces are homemade and delicious, the margaritas were strong and tasty, and the food was consistently wonderful. Plus, Lili was our waitress and she did a great job.

The place does not look like much from the outside. Hidden in a strip mall with dark windows but well worth a visit. Great food with quick service. Great for a quick lunch. Food is very inexpensive and portions are very generous. Recommend!!

Stopped in to try out the place for a late lunch and were not disappointed. While the place is not very stylish inside or out, but the service is great, and the food is too. We started off with guacamole and frozen margaritas and they were terrific. Their salsa is a little more spicy than the other places around here and that is a good thing with us. Since it was a late lunch we both just went with tacos. My wife had the hard shell with beef and I had the grilled fish in soft shells. We both were stuffed and satisfied. This will now be our Mexican go to place on Johns Island.
