The food was very good especially the Fried Green tomatoes appetizer with whipped goat cheese & tomato bacon jam! I also had the fish tacos which were good with pickled cabbage on top. Service was good too. Atmosphere is fair and sitting is tight but it was ok for lunch there.
Wren has been around for a long time in Beaufort, and generally has maintained a level of quality that justifies its longevity. This dinner was equal to most that I have had there over the years. Food was very good and portions are almost absurdly generous. Rarely have I left Wren without a box of leftovers. What was decidedly weak last night was the service. Servers were uniformly pleasant but really did a poor job. It took a long time to even get water and put in a drink order...
We requested to be seated 30 minutes earlier than our reservation time and our request was accommodated. Our server was very friendly and efficient even though she said she said she was new. The ambience was delightful and our food was quite good. Overall, it was a very positive experience and we would definitely return when we're in this area.
