The place looks great — very charming and nicely kept — but the service was incredibly slow. We ordered four breakfast items and ended up waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food. During that time, we saw several other parties arrive after us and get served before us.

This spot seems to cater more to local regulars and senior citizens who may be used to the pace. If you’re in a hurry or expecting standard turnaround time, be prepared to wait.

Found this little gem as we were passing through the area, glad we stopped for lunch!
One kiddo got the grilled chicken sandwich and loved it. I ordered the fried green tomato BLT and it was so good! Each of my kids chose a slice of cake, they said the salted Carmel was good but the chocolate layered cake was their favorite!
Our server was so kind, quick and attentive. Zero complaints, would stop here again!

We stopped in based on Google reviews as we drove through the Pee Dee region. The lunch was served efficiently and the chicken salad, fruit salad and pasta salad all met expectations.
The big winner, though, are the cakes. They have beautiful house-made cakes and they weren't the standard options (key lime cake!). They all looked great, I opted for the salted caramel as that is a favorite that one doesn't see often. The highest compliment I can give is that it tasted like my grandmother's caramel cake. The texture and flavors are perfect.

Very small home town feel. The food was amazing, and the ladies were super sweet.

Came for lunch and stayed for dessert. Cool downtown diner feel with friendly countertop service. I've never had deviled egg pasta salad but it was good, the chips were killer, and went well with the pimento cheese. Fresh Baked cakes with new daily flavors the flagship cake is 15 layers, and it's darn good.

Tips From A Bellman

I grew up in Bennettsville , but been living in Las Vegas since 1991. I visit the Carolinas about every 2 to 3 years now to see family and friends. I remember when this used to be the Sanitary Cafe and Harry ran the place. He had a small display case with some of his old military stuff in it from when he was in World War 2. I was happy to see the stainless steel wall cover still there behind the counter.

I met a friend of mine for lunch on my way to Myrtle Beach. We've been friends since 3rd Grade ! I had the Country Ham Plate with Mac-n-Cheese , Mashed Potatoes and Gravy , Roll , and Sweet Tea. He had the Patty Melt with Fries. I love getting Country Ham when I come home to visit because we can't get it in Las Vegas. It was good , but I have to say the portion was a little smaller than I expected. The Mashed Potatoes and Gravy was good , but the Mac-n-Cheese I didn't really care for. Sweet Tea was on point.

My friend liked his Patty Melt and fries. He knew our waitress and she was nice enough to take a picture of us. Bennettsville is still the small town community that I remember and grew up in. I would love to see it grow again like many places have even though all the jobs moved away years ago when the factories moved overseas. My father and I walked the streets of Bennettsville everyday after he got off work and we visited many of the shopkeepers after his first heart attack to give him some exercise. He grew up in Bennettsville and never moved as many of the people that he grew up with. Bennettsville was a tight knit community then and I know the ones that I grew up with still have this place in their heart even being thousands of miles away like me.

First visit to the small quaint restaurant. We were greeted, which was nice. They had seating at a table or at the counter. Ordered bacon, egg cheese on wheat. Bacon was hard and not to my liking. Ordered sausage egg and cheese on croissant plus hashbrown on the side. Sandwich was ok but hashbrowns had no seasoning. I would recommend you try for yourself.
