Lovely little place. Food was great, service outstanding. Don't be fooled by the exterior strip mall look; the room is tastefully done, low key, very nice. Had a wonderful meal.

Waitress unwelcoming. Food overpriced. My shrimp over pasta had too much garlic. Sauce was thick. Never offered a cocktail menu. Will not go back.

One of my favorite restaurants. My husband and I moved to SC 4 months ago from NJ. It didn't take long for us to love this as one of our favorites! Delish food, wonderful drinks, service is great and the staff is so warm and inviting!

Service is fantastic and the food is amazing. We love to bring our out of town guests here.

Don't order the Chicken Parm. Plates are cold so the wet sloppy pasta is cold, chicken is hot but soggy. Pasta was swimming with water that was not drained so I did not eat. Service was just ok, for an empty place she only came around to ask about more wine...water guy came to the table 4 times to remove plates...read the check carefully $4.99 fee added if credit card use.

I ordered the lamb shank and it was cooked to perfection! My friends ordered the veal chop and another ordered the pork chop and both were very happy with their order. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!!

We have been coming here for many years. The food never disappoints. The service is fantastic! It’s like dining with family. We now live in Florida so we don’t get here as often as we used to but rest assured that whenever we plan a trip in or near Bluffton the May River Grill is on our itinerary!

**AVOID** I travel across the US and eat out often. I never write a review unless the dinner was out of this world good or a complete disaster. Guess which this was? We arrived at 5pm without a reservation. There were only two other parties seated and they were willing to seat us. This was the highlight of the meal. My wife and I were hoping for a romantic dinner in historic Bluffton. We picked the restaurant from a website claiming, "6 must dine restaurants in Bluffton". That should've been our first warning. We were seated at a table for two near the open view kitchen. There were about a half dozen folks working on meal prep and chatting nonstop about what troubled them. So much for romance. The kitchen was draped in every MIchigan sports team banner (the owner is from Michigan and is very proud of it) We started with the she-crap soup and salads - I had the romaine wedge and Mrs the caprese. The soup ($9 each) was very salty, thin and contained what appeared to be imitation crab. Yuck. The caprese ($13) had one slice of a generic tasteless tomato with one slice of mozzarella on top on a small bed of greens. My salad was okay. I ordered the special - fresh grouper ($45) served with a lemon butter sauce that had a few small shrimps and scallops, a small pile of rice pilaf-ish and a small amt of julienned vegs - green beans, carrots, and bean sprouts. The grouper was a nice sized portion but absolutely without taste. The sauce should have complimented the fish. It did not. My wife had the special deep fried lobster tails ($60). It came with same rice and vegs. The tails were so heavily battered and greasy that they were barely edible. She peeled off most of the breading and gave me the third one to eat so as not to test her stomach. It was greasy and salty - clearly this place's favorite spice. The house by the glass wine was unremarkable ($13-14/glass). We skipped the dessert figuring that would be messed up too. The total bill was $211.88 (generous tip included) and to add insult to injury they charged me (without warning) an additional $7.96 because I charged the meal. I truly felt robbed. I will say that the waiter, Carson, was very nice and was in no part a part of the problem. We tipped him very well in spite of the bad meal. This meal was so bad and the price point of everything made it so much worse. Do yourself a favor and skip here and drive to Savannah and eat at The Pink House that while at a similar price point is worth every penny.

Have always heard it was amazing, but driving by it looks a bit unassuming. Step through the door to find a beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere and food to match. You won’t regret this one. Make a reservation though!

We waited an hour for our food without any updates from the waitresses. One of the cooks served the food and apologized but wished they were better at communicating. After we got our food, one of the waitresses came and said to my kids…are you guys feeling better now? Like not a very good comment. The food was good but it wasn’t worth an hour of waiting especially if you have kids.
