We were talking about what a perfect dinner it was last night with our friends this morning over coffee. Wonderful service amazing food. We all decided it was one of those dinners that we will always remember. Great job Montage and River House! ❤️❤️❤️
No one in this area gives the service of the River House. Food portions are reasonable, instead of excessive like many places anymore. The food last night was very good, but not great.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars! The food and service were amazing. The wine list included so may if our favorites that it was hard to choose. Every detail was spectacular for a fancy date night dinner. We can't wait to go back!
The gentlemen ordered steaks which they rated steak as good. The ladies had Caesar salads which were rated fair. The lettuce was yellowed and the stubs which we said we would normally throw away. The dressing was good. Vegetables were the best. Servers were polite and very professional. The noise level made it extremely hard to hear a conversation.
Our server Chad was excellent, professional, and helpful. I would like another vegetarian option or two on the menu. Quite expensive so it's a special occasion sort of place.
We attended a Staglin wine dinner for our community on Wednesday, January 28. Chef Dan Vesey is such a talent, and the Staglin wines + dinner were one of the best in my lifetime. Such terrific food, varied and so wonderfully paired with the wines that Staglin curated. Thank you, thank you thank you. Chef Dan, Damien Olsen and their team at River House make Palmetto Bluff such an exceptional place to live given the dining, cultural, and wine experiences, we are able to partake in here. They create community among members, guests, and staff associates that are uncommon to anything that we have experienced in the 20+ places where we have lived. My sincere thank you for all that each of them do to make our RH experiences so enjoyable and memorable. Cheers!
An absolutely fabulous setting, Service was spectacular (Chad especially wonderful). The amuse very tasty and the wedge salad ok...but the rest of the meal was at best mediocre. The recently added Swordfish was dreadfully under seasoned. The touted au poivre sauce (the particular feature that drew me to order the dish) was nothing more than a bland brown splash on the plate. There was no noticeable peppercorns (which are always the highlight of that particular sauce). My wife's chicken dish was tasty but not as outstanding as we've had in the past. We have dined at River House multiple times, our first time was outstanding, each subsequent visit has shown a drop off, not in terms of service or setting but the dishes continue to be underwhelming. When no salt or pepper is presented, I have come to trust that the food will be seasoned expertly, this is the second time we have been there that I have found that to not be the case. My hope is that such a wonderful local setting will work to fix that but, frankly, it will be a while before we choose to return for the food.
Totally enjoyable experience. The cocktail program, service, and food were exceptional. The swordfish and pork chop entrees were especially excellent.
Outstanding in every aspect. Our server, Trinity, was the absolute best ever!!!!! She did a fabulous job and made our group feel special.
Great food and service. Was an impromptu visit so had casual attire. One guest gave us looks as if they were paying for our food cause we had jeans on. Other than that, everything was great! Oysters and Ribeye were my fav

We had an outstanding dinner at River House for Thanksgiving. We have eaten there multiple times and each time have had a great experience and meal. Thanksgiving was no dinner. We were seated promptly in a nice table with a window and fireplace! The view of Riverhouse over the May river is lovely at sun down. Service was excellent, professional, timely, helpful, unobtrusive. The drinks were, wine selection excellent. The crab cake is to die for and made, who knew, with mostly crab! The file amazing and sides, sauce and deserts all excellent. We visit often and visit Riverhouse frequently. Don't miss it!

From the oysters to the tuna two ways to the iberico chop everything was terrific. Flavorful meal and service was great. I think it's the best restaurant in Bluffton.
Good not great. Very expensive for what it was. About $700 for four people with only two glasses of wine total. Service was meh.
Middle of the road. Not the “elegant” or “exquisite” experience that the proprietor's description leaves you expecting for this very expensive dining experience. First the good: very pleasant servers-very welcoming. But the dining room is cacophonous- very loud for an evening service. It's the holidays yet the decor was not all that festive, only one requisite white-lit tree, pretty ho hum. Then the food - so beautifully presented and in fact flavorful, yet brought lukewarm warm to the table. What a bummer. So, kudos for finding welcoming staff and a chef who knows how to prepare food, but unfortunate that it does not arrive at the table as intended. Overall a let-down.
