Went for breakfast... Crab eggs Benedict. Just left Hilton Head island. Their Eggs Benedict was the best 👌 👍 😍

Quaint spot in an old home that oozes charm. There were four in our party and we were seated outside on the front porch. A great spot! We each ordered a different entrée. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had their spin on a Philly Cheese Steak. It was one of the best I've ever had. It was on grilled sourdough that was crunchy and flavorful with plenty of steak, grilled onions, and cheese. Our server was excellent. We'll definitely visit again when we're in the area.

The Best Breakfast Spot in Downtown Bluffton – A Hidden Gem

The Cottage Cafe, Bakery & Tea Room is hands down the best place to have breakfast in downtown Bluffton. This charming spot is truly a hidden gem, with a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.

The food is always fresh and delicious—no matter what you order, you can taste the quality and care in every bite. There’s comfortable indoor seating as well as a lovely outdoor patio, perfect for enjoying a relaxed morning in the heart of Bluffton.

It does get busy (for good reason!), so I recommend making a reservation if you want to guarantee a table. The staff is always welcoming and attentive, making the whole experience even better.

If you’re looking for a special breakfast or brunch spot, you can’t go wrong with The Cottage. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately we got treated horribly by the host and manager here. We came in with a party of 8 and they treated us terribly that we ended up getting up and leaving.

I had gone here, hoping to have an afternoon tea service. But unfortunately they weren't doing it at the time. So I stayed to have tea and a pastry and it was amazing. The atmosphere was charming. I don't remember my service name off the top of my head but he was awesome, And all of the servers there were so nice and polite. I live in Beaufort so I drove about 45 minutes to go there and I will definitely be going back. I'm hoping to bring my best friend from college when she comes to visit me in October.

This morning we went to The Cottage in Bluffton for breakfast, and I will never forget the kindness we experienced there. From the moment we arrived, our waitress Kim went above and beyond—helping us get my 88-year-old grandparents out of the car, making room for walkers, a cane, and our stroller. She treated my grandparents with such gentleness, even asking my grandma what kind of tea she was in the mood for—citrus, fruity, or herbal. She ended up with a raspberry lemon tea that made her light up with joy.

The food was delicious, beautifully prepared, and everything felt perfect
until my grandma suddenly lost consciousness at the table. In an instant, the people around us—retired nurses sitting nearby—rushed to her side, coaching us through what information the paramedics would need and preparing to begin compressions when she lost her pulse. By God’s grace, she came back to us and slowly regained responsiveness.

In the middle of all of this, Kim and the staff never missed a beat. She offered to hold my newborn so I could stay with my grandma, moved my car so the ambulance could get in, and management comped both our meal and the nurses’ meal without hesitation. They stayed close, offering comfort, hugs, and reassurance that we didn’t need to think about anything except my grandma’s wellbeing.

It’s not often you see humanity so clearly on display—strangers stepping in to save a life, staff showing extraordinary compassion, and a community wrapping around us in a terrifying moment. We are forever grateful to The Cottage and to Kim for their care, and to the nurses who happened to be in the right place at the right time. Bluffton showed its true heart today. ❀

Love this place
Excellent food and service
Now I won't be able to get in.. Everything is excellent including desert.

Sorry for the update as the cottage used to be I go to place lately the service as gone down hill. I won't let one terrible waitress ruin it. Unfortunately it seems that they are cutting back and some of the food to save money?

Menu has changed over time but cook made me one of my favorite dishes from before. Great omelet but prices are up.

Wow, the food was wonderful!
We tried the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, which was fabulous. Then one of us got the pineapple special which was amazing! Chicken wrap was delicious with homemade ranch! The salad trio was wow. Definitely will be back and definitely recommend!

Went with my mother who really liked it the first time. I was starving and ready to eat. I had the blackened chicken salad.
Unfortunately this food was not my taste. Actually it was fresh and the service was friendly but this is a tea room and the food is dainty. It’s fresh and well prepared, just not my cup of tea.
But there’s an old saying that anything is good if you’re hungry. No disrespect to the place.
Thank you because my mom enjoyed it very much.

I came here 12 years ago for dinner (which they no longer offer), and had possibly the best meal of my life. Came back for lunch while on vacation, and the experience was just very flat. A $21 cheeseburger should blow me away. This was bland, tasteless and obviously not hand patted. In fact, I’d guess it was premade and frozen because it looked like something you’d get at a hospital or a hotel. The prices are absolutely insane. $21 for tomato pie? $20 for a processed turkey sandwich? Go somewhere else.

We had a nice morning stroll in beautiful Blufton and ended up at this charming restaurant.
I think, for the location, it provides great food at a decent price. The service was great as well. I will stop by again.

The tiramisu and lemon bars are flawless. The mini bundt cakes are disgusting. Tastes old and hardened.

Updated after response: Your place is legendary for the lemon bars and tiramisu! Birthdays, Mothers Day, anniversary’s, always with those two desserts!! We tried the mini bundts on a whim, and agree they would be better fresh to the table. We are only 2 mins away from the restaurant, but fair to be less harsh on takeout.

Great restaurant! Local approved spot!
