We attended the tavern lunch and it was great! What a fantastic way to learn more about the area’s history. Mike was fantastic and the food was delicious. Must do!

Mike’s Charleston Historic Supper Club and the Colonial Tavern Table are the most unique food tours available in Charleston. Mike combines his love of history with delicious food. The historic venue is so unique, the way Mike ties the history of Charleston into the history of the food is so informative and fun. It was also really fun getting ti know the other guests. This is definitely one of the best food experiences offered in Charleston!!

What a fabulous night. I treated my husband for his birthday and what a great celebration. Mike was an amazing historical tour guide throughout the dinner. We learned so much about historical dining as well as some interesting Charleston history. The food was unbelievable good - and so much! We took home Doggie bags! I would highly recommend this to tourist and locals!

Unique way to learn about Charleston history and food, from colonial era through antebellum to post Civil War. In colonial garb, host Mike serves and talks about the food served. He also prepares it “off camera” and cleans up. Highly recommend this for locals and first time visitors to Charleston. Let history come alive! Includes a 30 minute private visit to the Historic Charleston Museum. Experience and enjoy!

Michael gave us a comprehensive overview of the food from the 18th and 19th century. The 7 course meal was delightful and we got to sample so many different “receipts” as they were called that back in the day. Loved his style of serving and the table was beautifully set in the period. He kept us thoroughly entertained from the moment we walked into the Historic Society. So enjoyed visiting the fire proof building and learned so much about what Charleston has to endure during the civil war. Would highly recommend booking this fun event. Wayne and Daphne Trent

OUTSTANDING evening! The food was DELICIOUS with AMPLE servings Mike, the host, chef, and waiter, was warm and welcoming, and vividly explained each course. The dining room and table settings were perfect for the occasion and we also were able to enjoy strolling through the museum before dinner! Mike prepared ALL of the food from different historic “receipts” exactly as done in a bygone era, graciously served it, and made each guest feel welcome all evening! Don’t miss the opportunity to dine here when you visit Charleston.

Highly recommend! A wonderful fusion of a food tour and historic Charleston tour all in one. The evening started out with a tour of the Fireproof Building museum. We then went to the third floor of the museum with a private dining room. The family style dining experience was so enjoyable. Each dish served was delicious and included an informative explanation of the time period and background of the food. Our meal included wine, soup, bread, shrimp pie, beef, chicken, potatoes, and yummy desserts. You will be so full and satisfied when you leave! The host Mike was pleasant and added a personal touch to the experience. His history degrees and culinary background make the perfect combination for this evening. The menu changes seasonally so I hope to visit again.

Mike, the host/historian/chef, was an absolute delight. The depth of his knowledge is truly amazing, and he does a great job sharing it with the group without it becoming overwhelming. The historic receipts (aka recipes) are full of flavor, and the whole evening felt entirely worthwhile! Highly recommend.

What a lovely evening being transported through Charleston culinary history. Mike was a wonderful host and chef and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed learning about the different dishes, bills of fare, and chefs in this area. I also enjoyed walking around the SC Historical museum before the dinner started.

This was the meal I was most looking forward to during our honeymoon. Mike is incredibly knowledgeable. Not only about the food, but also the history, and how the food and history combined. He has done extensive research and it really shows. If you like history and good food, DO NOT miss out on this experience.

What a special treat it is to eat a seven course Colonial meal while learning the culinary history from expert tour guide Michael Hebb. A tour through the museum of the Charleston Historical Society is an added bonus. You’ve never had an experience like this. I highly recommend it. Educational, delicious and FUN!

Absolutely amazing experience. Amazing food, Mike is VERY knowledgeable, polite, and an excellent cook. 10 out of 10 will be booking again next time we visit Charleston. I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed the knowledge and the food he shared. Definitely should have taken pictures of the food but I was far too busy chowing down.

If you’re looking for the perfect blend of Charleston history and food, look no further. Mike’s extensive background is in American, European, and culinary history, and his expertise shows in the meal he prepares. You’ll experience the 18th and 19th centuries through soups, breads, main entrees, and desserts, all while learning about Charleston’s past and how it’s changed over time. My husband and I cannot emphasize enough how much we enjoyed this; we both work in the heritage field, and this was a refreshing reminder of why we love what we do!

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, and Value The Historic Charleston Supper Club is one of the best kept culinary secrets in Charleston! Our host, Michael, transported us back in time to three different time periods in the history of Charles Town, Colonial, Antebellum and Reconstruction, through amazingly delicious food (Seven course) and entertaining historical insights, both culinary and political. If you love food (18th and 19th century recipes) served family style and history, you won’t find a better way to spend an evening in Charleston! Be warned you will go away stuffed to the gills.

This was truly amazing! We are from Saint Augustine and enjoy learning about history. In this setting you get to meet others who enjoyed wonderful storytelling and the privilege of tasting history in a museum afterhours! When recalling our trip to others this was the absolute highlight of Charleston. I really wish passionate historian servers where available at all unique towns such as where we are from... Come on down Mike Hebb! We can introduce you to some datils!
