“Incredible. From the service, the atmosphere, the food, simply incredible. My wife and I had lunch here and shared 7 courses including dessert. The hardest part is choosing from all the amazing options on the menu! You seriously cannot go wrong. Our waiter was the most friendly person ever, helped us navigate the menu and wines like a pro. Had exceptional recommendations and was amazing. It is a small intimate atmosphere, very relaxing. Not loud.

Now for the food, every course was phenomenal. Truly. I think the two stand outs for me were the wine braised beef cheek and the sobrasada con queso. But honestly every course was exquisite in its own right. The beef cheek was unlike any beef dish I have had, literally melts in your mouth , has immense rich flavors of butter, collagen and bone marrow. Out of this world. The sobrasada is one of the best bread dishes I have had in my life, words can't explain the emulsion of flavors and how they all come together so well. Compliments to the chef.

We cannot wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. This is truly a gem of a restaurant. Every single person working there was making sure the experience as perfect.”

“Edmund’s Original is one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston. It’s the perfect mix of quality and price, with a team that always makes us feel right at home. I can’t speak highly enough of this place. Whenever someone comes to visit from out of town, we bring them to EO so they can get a taste of what we’re fortunate to enjoy regularly. The food is phenomenal - from the fried chicken to the burger to the steak, and everything in between. The beer selection is top notch. In-house developed cocktails are creative, while the classics are on point if that’s more your speed. The chocolate cake and an espresso martini are the perfect touch to finish it all off! Oh, and don’t sleep on the special events they host! When the chef teams up with other chef’s from around the state, they always deliver a unique and delicious experience!”

From the service to the menu, the multiple oyster choices, the happy hours, the many specials, quality of the drinks, the happy, personable culture of the staff, the many heat lamps keeping the little outdoor garden oasis toasty and cozy, and the staff has nearly no turnover, and lots of Charleston restaurants have stupendous food, but what makes the harlow stand alone as a best of the best, is an obvious comeraderie amongst them coupled with the tastiest crab Mac n cheese in the universe along with their other delicious fare!”

“Food made with love and care. I've been wanting to come here for a couple of years. Finally got the chance and it delivered in every best way.

You really can't go wrong here with this menu but my suggestion would be to just lean into things that you wouldn't normally have. Like I'm sure the mafé is fantastic but it's not often that I can have egusi with fufu.

The juices were also fantastic, as was the service and environment. Next time I'm in Charleston, I hope to visit again.”

“We had an amazing experience here. We went on a Wednesday morning. Short wait time. We got the blueberry kolache, dark chocolate croissant, and the cardamom sugar kouign amann. We also got the toasted croissant latte to drink. All pastries were 5/5 stars. My favorite was the kouign amann and my fiancés favorite was the blueberry. The pastries were flaky and fresh. The latte was very unique and flavorful. I like how they incorporate the croissants into the flavor. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area. “Dining at Living Room at The Dewberry is less about simply having a meal and more about experiencing Charleston hospitality at an elevated level. From the moment you enter, the atmosphere feels intentional, refined, and remarkably calm, making it one of the most inviting dining spaces in Charleston.

What immediately stood out was the balance between sophistication and comfort. The lighting, seating arrangements, textures, and overall pacing of the environment create a space that encourages conversation, relaxation, and presence. It feels luxurious without ever becoming overwhelming or performative.

The food and cocktails were beautifully prepared, thoughtfully presented, and aligned perfectly with the atmosphere of the property itself. Every detail, from service timing to presentation, felt polished and consistent.

What many people may overlook is how well the Living Room transitions throughout the day. During daylight hours, the space feels airy and restorative, while evenings settle into a richer, more intimate atmosphere that works beautifully for date nights, executive meetings, wedding weekends, and quiet gatherings alike.

As someone who works within photography and hospitality environments professionally, I pay close attention to atmosphere, guest experience, and presentation, and The Dewberry continues to execute all three exceptionally well.

For anyone searching for one of the best luxury dining and cocktail experiences in Charleston, South Carolina, the Living Room at The Dewberry is absolutely worth experiencing.

I sampled new things and compared dishes with other diners as they were leaving. It is my new favorite restaurant in Charleston! The interior is pretty, cheerful and bright. “Great rooftop bar at The Dewberry Hotel. Hostess checks you in fro the Guinness and gives you a “pass” to take the elevator to the 8th floor. Another hostess greets you and seats you. Just outdoor area with panoramic views of the city. Small intimate seating indoors with a few booths, bar and counter seating. They do have sharables , sandwiches, salads, and sweets but we were there for the beverages. Great place for a real cocktail. I had “white Album”. It was the perfect cocktail. Large, clear ice cube, appropriate glass ware, and garnish…and the flavor! One of the best cocktails Ive had in a very long time. Great mix of flavors; not too sweet, not too boozy. Refreshing and yummy. My husband was also very pleased with his selection, the pineapple-jerk Old Fashioned. Again, great mix of flavors. Enjoyable without any one component overpowering the other. And did I mention the ice? It’s amazing. If you’ve ever tried to make clear ice cubes, you know it’s quite the task. They have mastered it. The ice was (almost) as amazing as the cocktails. Staff was friendly and professional. We will definitely be back for another round… or two! Check it out, you wont be disappointed!”

They were full unfortunately but kindly offered to add us to the waitlist list and told us an approximate time it’d be open. We got the text from Resy and returned. Our only interaction was with Mark who was fabulous. There is no menu- chat with you about what you like/what you’re in the mood for/allergies/etc and create a drink off of that. Hyman's Seafood 215 Meeting St, Charleston Seafood • $$

“We're from Louisville so we're used to southern hospitality and charm. Hyman's were above and beyond. Genuinely amazingly friendly and hospitable. The gm was on the floor, as I understand he is most nights, and personally came by and personally thanked us for coming in and choosing them. The service was fantastic and the food was great. They have an extensive menu and 4 different fresh fish on the menu that can all be prepared almost any way you want. fried, broiled, Cajun, scampi, jerk. Choose whatever you want. The hush puppies are fantastic and everything was well presented and well cooked. Pricing is very reasonable but not cheap, nor should it be for the quality of food and the exceptional service. Meals were about 25 to 30 bucks a person. Southbound 72 Cannon St, Charleston Cocktail Bar • $$$$

“I found out about Southbound, through my job. I had to go do some work there, and found the owner and everyone there, super friendly. Most people at restaurants ignore working people while they are there. As my 42nd anniversary was quickly approaching, I decided to give this place a try. Some of my past picks, have not been the best. Southbound cleared EVERY hurdle I have about restaurants. From the moment we approached the restaurant, great service began! While coming thru the gate, the hostess yelled out, "HEY LARRY" and then said, "This must be your beautiful wife"! Like CHEERS, it felt great to go somewhere, "Where everybody knows your name" We were seated and got to view the open fire oven. I had dropped off 42 roses the week before for them to put on our table, for my wife. Tropical storm Debbie, and downtown flooding prevented us from going exactly on our anniversary. I was worried that store bought roses, would not last thru the weeklong delay, Joel assured me everything would be taken care of, and not to worry. As we were seated, there on the table, sat 42 roses. Fresh, and arranged with baby breath flowers included. I was told the young lady with the hostess had arranged them. They were gorgeous! They also had an anniversary card on the table from them, not something I had dropped off. The service was tremendous, the food indescribably outstanding! I have only had steak Tar Tar once before in my life, and was greatly afraid to try it again, as the first time was awful. It was superb! They take great pride in the presentation of their food products. I felt like I was in an episode of Master Chef. We had the steak, as well as the Sea bass, okra, corn, sweet potatoes, and the Caramel cake. Everything absolutely wonderful! This was a truly wonderful and memorable dining experience!! I would give 100 stars, and a Siskel and Ebert two thumbs up! There was only one thing I was disappointed about. No sweet tea! Were In Charleston SC, no sweet tea. Everything else totally made up for it though. The staff even had everyone present sign a menu, wishing us a happy anniversry1 I will most definatly go there again for a special occasion. Thanks to Andrew, Joel, and the entire staff, for making this night special!!”

“Incredible experience! Every detail felt very curated and special. From sake to sushi, each flavor was unique and creative. The chefs were very careful of an allergies and adapted to those who did have an allergy. Chef Matt and Max were so professional and knowledgeable. Som Sean had an extensive selection of sakes, knew so much about each flavor profile, and helped us pick the perfect drink. All three were so personable and enjoyable. It felt like having an intimate dinner party, but very luxurious. The pace was faster than I personally would have liked. There wasn’t really much time to savor the moment or converse with my friend, but that’s a personal preference. There was also an option to have caviar and/or truffle for an additional cost. However, the way that it was worded to us was as though it was apart of the experience, already factored in, and we just needed to choose our preference. In reality, it was an upcharge, so a little bit of a surprise when the bill came. Overall, I would say this is by far my favorite restaurant in CHS at the moment. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to going back.”

e had an amazing lunch here. It’s a great, simple concept with a welcoming atmosphere and a super cool retro 80s and 90s vibe. You just seat yourself, order at the window, and they bring the food right out to you.
Our group tried a little bit of everything:
The Apple Butter Jeans sandwich was a huge hit.
Chipotle Chicken Pita absolutely crushed my expectations.
Pastrami Reuben was phenomenal (took a bite of my wife’s and man, it was delicious).
Cracker Barrel Club was excellent.
Sidewinder Fries were perfect—crisp, hot, and flawlessly seasoned.
Everything came out fresh, hot, and packed with great flavor. Service was incredibly polite and quick, too; we took our time and were still in and out in about 20 to 30 minutes. Serving sizes are great and the cost is very reasonable for the quality.
Highly recommend this spot. I honestly might return tomorrow just to try something else on the menu!”

The waiter was very slow to take our order, a different waitress (not the one who took our order) tried to give our drinks to the wrong table until we corrected her and said they were ours, and one person in our group was brought the wrong order, which they caught and corrected after several minutes even though we did not say something. The Living Room at The Dewberry 334 Meeting St, Charleston Cocktail Bar • $$

“My husband and I got married last week at Upstairs at Rue de Jean, the event space located just above the restaurant. We cannot say enough beautiful things about this fantastic venue or the incredible people who made our day happen. First, a big thank you to Sass, the event manager. She allowed us to visit the space as much as we needed to ensure we were bringing our vision to life and she handled all of our special requests with grace. Every single one of our requests were granted and the team was so excited to help make our day so special. The event team and banquet captain, Justin, made the service impeccably smooth. Every wedding guest with allergies was tended to personally, and dinner for over 100 people went off without a hitch. The food was absolutely phenomenal and my guests are still raving about it. Bourbon N' Bubbles 570 King St, Charleston Bar • $$$

“Listen, I came to Bourbon & Bubbles expecting a nice dinner. But I'm here to tell you - I left this place questioning ALL my life choices. Because YES, that lobster ravioli is absolutely divine, some may say demure but I’m going with an orgasm of my tastebuds. One bite in and I was ready to trade in my KY girl heels & move upstairs. Everything else on the table held its own - crack potatoes lived up to their name, the deviled eggs were basically showing off, and the cocktails? Let’s just say their bourbon lineup could convince a Pentecostal to consider converting to Catholicism. The presentation was on point, too. It’s the kind of place where even the side dishes look better than I do in unfiltered photos.. Ambience-wise, picture a nightclub circa 2006 where velvet met gold, blue lighting was the vibe, and every bartender is a “master of their craft” (and will happily let you know). It’s moody, glam, and just the right amount of extra. 10/10 would come back, mostly to apologize to the ravioli for not meeting it sooner.”

Also have to give a huge shoutout to our server, Tito, who was amazing all night. Super attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely made the experience even better. They also accommodated us adding two extra people to our reservation last minute, which we really appreciated❤

“My husband and I visited Charleston to celebrate my birthday, and if I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would. Chef Masa’s newest venture is truly a must-visit. The artistic presentation and impeccable service made the evening unforgettable. Standout dishes included the Jingisukan lamb kushiyaki and Kinoko, while the crudo and beef dumplings were exceptional. The Shaka Shaka fries were a fun and unique touch, as was the apple pie—but the true highlight was the miso caramel soft serve affogato.
