“Amazing food with unique variations. Friendly professional staff in a Charleston casual atmosphere.”
“Cute, quaint spot for a cocktail! My girlfriends and I had pre-dinner drinks before heading to Fig next door. We really enjoyed our cocktails.
Pro tip: it’s a small space, so make a reservation if you can.”
“I've been to many steak houses in all the major cities and this one deserves to be on the list with the best of them
The experience started by being personally greeted at the front door by the owner. That's a good sign that they are taking an active role in their restaurant and you are going to have a great experience.
Started with a delicious plate of raw oysters and followed with a perfectly cooked dry aged ribeye.
Cocktails are top notch as well.”
“We enjoyed oysters, yellowfin tuna, clam chowder, steak and the fish basket plus some delicious drinks! Service was amazing as well as the entire experience. Highly recommend!”
“Page states 4 pm open, however when we went in there, paid parking, they told us dinner started at 5pm..only raw bar was open. Highly disappointed! Reservation Only, which also isn't stated on their page. The ratings stars are turned off...I wonder why???”

“Delicious spot with great price on Happy Hour $1 James River oysters! The guy that brought out the oysters had the sexiest voice I’ve ever heard. The oysters were beyond orgasmic. Get the $3 & $4 ones too…It’s worth it! We also split the scallops which were so good! They also have happy hour drink specials”

“Just absolutely AMAZING!!!!!! I may have eaten three of the Wagyu rolls. We had awesome Sake! Kazuyuki and Chris know their stuff, pay attention to every detail and take the time to talk to their patrons. Maybe the best food in Charleston. Can’t wait to go back in a couple weeks!!”
“Incredible attention to detail. Sebastian at the bar gave us a master course in cocktail history and customized a flight of Amaro for us.
Food was creatively inspired by local fresh ingredients. One of the best experiences I’ve had in Charleston.”
“Food is 4 star because I got the steak. I know this is a seafood place and I hate seafood, except for long john silvers. My wife loves seafood and she wanted to go. She loved her oysters and some sort of fish pasta. My steak was ok, at best. Fries were great and chocolate dessert was even better. However, the steak - well I love steak and ate less than half. Thus, 4 stars on food. Service was top notch...5. Atmosphere is dinged a bit because downstairs was so loud that it reminded me of being at a college basketball game. If you want quieter dining experience, get a table upstairs. If you love seafood, this is your place. If you are going because someone else wants to go, you will enjoy it enough to come back.”
“Excellent cocktails!! We didn’t get a chance to try out the food.”
“Discovered "Bintü Aletier" today and can't wait to go back and taste more! The food was delicious, colorful, authentic and creative at the same time. People were kind and courteous.
The whole experience was really good and so refreshing! We loved it!”
“This is on go to place whenever we visit Charleston. Great vibes”

“We had a few hours before boarding a cruise and found The Glass Onion while searching for local food. The reviews and pics looked good so we gave it a try. The reviews don't do this place justice! Local cuisine with an upscale twist is how I would describe it. Fyi...The pork chops are HUGE! Unless you are a BIG eater go with the single. The chow-chow relish is the perfect accompaniment to the pork dishes. I would ask for extra and use as a dipping sauce. Definitely get the Panna Cotta if it is available! We will be back to the area in a couple of months and plan on returning.
I am adding one small thing that I didn't care for...the mashed potatoes have rosemary in them. This was a detractor for me. I enjoy it on roasted potatoes but it didn't seem to work with mashed. You may want to choose a different side or ask for a sample before ordering”

“The food is delicious! The best she crab soup in Charleston”
“Somehow we snagged a reservation for this place two weeks before our trip. The food was every bit as good as people told us it would be. The gnocchi was delicious, the steak was perfect and the staff was great. I definitely recommend going here for a nice birthday dinner.”
“The service and food was very good, interesting seeing what famous people have eaten here. Also has a gift shop heading out. Would love to come back again”

“Yet another great experience at Charleston Grill. We try to come here whenever we visit Charleston. The service is always awesome and the food is great. You get what you pay for... it's not inexpensive. The Crab Cake is always a great appetizer. And the scallops are beautiful prepared. We'll be back!”
“Service was fast and friendly. Food was fantastic! Best smash burger I've ever had. Fries were perfectly salted and crispy.”

“Brunch was Fantastic! Had Scallop Benny & Shrimp & Grits. Outdoor & indoor seating. Great service & atmosphere!!”
“Gorgeous, swanky restaurant with the best food I’ve had in a long time. Hands down a MUST! The shrimp toast, XO dumplings and the tempura chicken dishes are to die for.”
“We went to Husk the night before my birthday and had a wonderful time. First, the location is so quaint and beautiful. We spent time taking pictures outside of the restaurant before going in and taking in the beauty/history of the building.
Once inside we were shown to our seats and were given our menu. The menu was custom print to celebrate my birthday by saying “Happy Birthday” below the date.
We ended up sharing some appetizers and meals and the food was delicious. The pimento cheese, broadbent country ham, buttermilk biscuits, and husk pickles appetizer was phenomenal. We talked about it the rest of the trip.
Yes, this restaurant has fantastic food, but the service and hospitality is what takes it a step above. Highly recommend”
“L'accueil et le service étaient plus que parfait! La nourriture était excellente! Le service de Darren était incroyable et magique! Je donne un 15 sur 10! J'ai eu ma plus belle soirée d'anniversaire à vie au High Cotton de Charleston!”
“It’s June, on a weekday, and all the hot spots in this one horse town are tough to get a seat. Sure you could’ve hit up Resy over a month ago, but you’re an idiot and decided to wing it because you’re not a sheep, you need to feel the spot first.
This spot’s vibe and food feels like it should be packed, every night of the week. From the music to the cozy modern interior, it’s casual enough that you can come in shorts and a tee but formal enough that you could come in a linen suit and you fit in regardless. It’s not sleepy, it’s fun.
The food isn’t mind blowing, but everything from the apps, cocktails and mains were solid to very good. Don’t get the crab roll- that was a the only miss- the bread tasted old and it’s more lunch than a dinner pick.
The mushroom app, with its sweet and savory sauce stood out. The tuna tartare, is more filling than you think (there’s a lot of rice). The oysters- well, I haven’t been anywhere yet in this city where they weren’t excellent. The caviar cone is a must. Did I mention they make a very good martini ?
Maybe tonight was an anomaly, but regardless, if you need a solid night this spot is risk free.”
“Experienced filipino food like never before! The food was fantastic and it has a wonderful atmosphere.”

“I have ordered several different things from this truck, and have yet to have a bad experience. Delicious coffee and the guy who serves it is extremely knowledgeable about where the beans come from and what is the best type of flavor, and can help you decide what is best. I look forward to getting it every time I see them.”
“The Waffles are very delicious!! And the service was fast and very friendly ❤️”
“This is our 3rd year staying here for St. Patrick’s day weekend. The hotel is fabulous in every way. From the restaurants to the front desk service, everything is 5 stars. Charlie at the pool bar took care of us and made our stay very enjoyable. I highly recommend The Ryder for your stay in Charleston.”
“We love Waffle House, so we stopped for breakfast. What made this stop even better is that our server/cook Mo did an excellent job and was very pleasant to visit with!!! We will always ask for Mo whenever we stop there again! Thank you!!”
“Great creative seafood. One of my favorites every Charleston visit.”
“L'accueil et le service étaient plus que parfait! La nourriture était excellente! Le service de Darren était incroyable et magique! Je donne un 15 sur 10! J'ai eu ma plus belle soirée d'anniversaire à vie au High Cotton de Charleston!”
Takeout Restaurants
“Super Delicious breakfast in a cozy laid-back Atmosphere!!!”
“Tonight we went as close to Spain as we could by dining at Malagón Mercado y Tapería in downtown Charleston.
Lynn Clingman and I are avid and frequent travelers to Spain and when we stepped through the doors of Malagon, we felt, right at home. Small tables and ample bar seats, with dark wood and brass rails. The wall is lined with narrow shelves with wine and various Spanish foodstuffs for sale. Of course there was a refrigerated case with Férmin brand Jamon, also for sale.
We ate well here and the flavors had us right back to some of our favorite places in Barcelona.
We had:
Crystal Pan y Tomate- aka Glass bread with Tomato and Olive Oil
Patatas Bravas- notoriously crisp potato cubes, lusciously creamy inside, dusted with Pimentón and served with A garlic aioli and a smokey spicy “ketchup” of sorts.
Gambas a la Plancha- Grilled head on Prawns with Garlic, Olive Oil, and Parsley.
Yellowfin Tuna cooked rare with Chanterelle Mushrooms and Tomato
Iberico Pork Pluma Steak with Onions and Peppers.
An excellent meal with wonderful service and friendly staff.”
“Went here while visiting Charleston. The sub was fantastic, service was great. Will definitely come back the next time we are here!”
“Amazing food and the owners are great. Drove 800 miles just to eat there and would do it again”
“The service and food was very good, interesting seeing what famous people have eaten here. Also has a gift shop heading out. Would love to come back again”
“Solid food. We had the beef ribs and the steak fajitas. Surprisingly, the steak fajitas were the standout winner over the beef ribs. I think they overdid the rub on the ribs. Beef ribs don’t need much to be delicious. The rice and beans were well seasoned and delicious. A little pricey for Mexican food but overall, worth a visit.”
“We LOVED our lunch visit a few weeks ago! great service, excellent food, loads of fun!”
“Do you have a trusted manager who is very reliable and dependable? Hurry up and start your trade with Mrs Craig Vanessa she is the best among all. I have tried 2 of them but she proves me right and helps me gain high profit. So why don't you invest with her so you can start making decent profit on crypto. All I did was to make the first deposit and I made my withdrawal yesterday. I'm so happy and excited please and please hurry up and start earning money for the future now. I'm going to invest for my children. For more information, visit her Facebook Page: Mrs Craig Vanessa”
“Amazing food. Beautiful ambiance. Good service! Highly recommend!”
“OMG. Where is the sixth star... You can't tell by looking at this place but I think it's the best place to eat on Center street, or probably on all of Folly, and wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't in the top of all SC. Going again tonight.... They know how to blend flavors and JoC oozes with creativity and quality while maintaining a focus on healthy choices without sacrifice... If only I had more time here to eat everything on the menu..?
5 years later, it's worse for wear, AC broken, in shambles and no effort to maintain. Food is still very good however.
Love the curry nachos this time. Butter bean curry is excellent.”
“Tiny bakery with varieties of pastries and baked goods! I got croissants, sourdough bread and some more sweets. They all tasted fresh and nice! They have great customer service and friendly faces!”

Drive-Thru Restaurants
“I really enjoyed the food! The service was quick, and we actually had food within minutes of ender brisket. The cheddarwurst sausages were plump and juicy. The whole hog pulled pork was juicy and full of flavor. The macaroni and cheese was full of cheese, and the noodles were firm, not mushy.”
“Loved their food. West Tennesee BBQ is my favorite and this was top-notch. Made my vacation better, thanks!”
“Love this place! Easily my favorite spot for an açaí bowl in charleston , I come pretty much every week. The drive through is fast and convenient, and the inside is decorated super cute.”
“I wasn’t expecting a whole lot from Gatti’s, but I’ll admit it was the best hog I’ve had since moving to Charleston. Quaint little spot too. Good local beer options too”
“Didn’t know it was inside the gas station but they still have a very nice sitting area inside and the atmosphere is nice to sit and eat. The food is obviously amazing. The coffee is great! George who was serving me was such a great employee. They are lucky to have him. He set me up perfectly for a breakfast get together I was having. Will be coming back.”
“We really enjoyed eating at this restaurant. The pad thai was delicious. The waitress could make changes for special food like changing a non-vegan meal to completely vegan. The ambiance is cozy and the food tastes really fresh. I would highly recommend it for an evening visit.”
“Shout out to the staff. Always friendly and pleasant! The fried chicken and fried pork chops are the BEST! So yummy!!!”
“Warm Sunday and I was craving a smoothie. My sister randomly put smoothie into her Waze app and Tropical Smoothie Cafe popped. Upon walking in we were greeted nicely by the ladies working today. They were helpful when picking smoothies. I also picked a chicken bacon ranch flat bread that came super fast, hot and was very tasty. I selected the watermelon mojito smoothie and got the edible strawberry ? straw. It is absolutely delicious and refreshing. My mother selected the island punch and also loved it. She raved about how much she received. What a bang for her buck! My sister got the island green smoothie with ginger and p protein with an edible lime straw. My son (10yrs old) got strawberry smoothie with strawberry edible straw. All were delicious SERIOUSLY! Bathroom was spotless and smelled cleans. The space over all was clean and well kept. Music selection was pleasant and even when the crowd came through the door everyone worked smoothly together and no one had a wait of longer than a min or two for anything.. over all excellent service.”
“So here’s the truth about everyone’s favorite coffee shop owner she runs around her employees acting like a teenager spreading rumors, bullying, and making fun of people 25 years younger than her. She spreads rumors about people getting pimped out with other employees on the phone, tells her employees they will never make it in the career they have been working towards their whole lives, screaming at young mother over the phone while she’s taking care of her children calling her broke and desperate. Let her employees steal tips from a girl who quit. Also letting a girl work who texted her a positive Covid test . She also had told three employees not test when they were in direct contact with Covid so that she didn’t have to close the shop. Consistently disregards individuals pronouns and makes it very obvious it’s out of pure ignorance. We have contacted cooperate and they didn’t mind or atleast meet with her and try and get her some management training and she thinks it’s all a joke. Hopefully this opens up someone’s eyes and sees who she really is.”
“A small but quality Chick-fil-A on The Citadel campus. This one is located within The Citadel Canteen building beside Mark Clark Hall. No, you do not have to be a cadet to go eat there as it is open to the public. The dining area is always clean, and the food always comes out great. They are usually busy serving cadets, but the line is always served quickly. Overall, it's a great little fast food restaurant.
Parking: Free parking lot just behind the building.”
“Amazing food. Beautiful ambiance. Good service! Highly recommend!”

Fine Dining
“Not just a meal, but an experience. My taste buds are still craving everything at Wild Common. I would go back in a heartbeat. The food, wine som, creative cocktails, and atmosphere are 5 stars!”
“What a wonderful night! My boyfriend and I were in town for a few days and wanted to try a tasting menu in Charleston. We saw there were two types so we ordered one of each, the Ashley and the Cooper, as well as a separate seared foie gras. Wow!! Everything was spectacular, we cleaned each course of every plate until there wasn’t even a crumb left! Our waiter/bartender, Denis, was very charming and kind to us. Despite having to take care of all the drinks in the house, he still took care of us with as much detail and time with everyone at the bar. We are very looking forward to the next time we are in Charleston as we will definitely be coming back!”
“Incredible restaurant with amazing food & service. It truly felt like we were special guests at a dinner party hosted by Kelleanne and Ryan. This is an elevated dining experience without being stuffy/pretentious. We loved the fun and classy ambiance. The music/playlist (which is curated by Kelleanne) was perfectly timed to each of the 8-course menu. Honeysuckle Rose is truly one of the best. Also, the wine selection (thanks to Sommelier Shane) was perfectly paired to match the exquisite cuisine. My wife did a non-alcoholic pairing, and we were equally impressed with the attention to detail with the craft mocktails that were created. A BIG thank you to the owners Kelleanne and Ryan for creating such a wonderful restaurant & restaurant concept for Charleston.”
“I found out about Southbound, through my job. I had to go do some work there, and found the owner and everyone there, super friendly. Most people at restaurants ignore working people while they are there. As my 42nd anniversary was quickly approaching, I decided to give this place a try. Some of my past picks, have not been the best. Southbound cleared EVERY hurdle I have about restaurants. From the moment we approached the restaurant, great service began! While coming thru the gate, the hostess yelled out, "HEY LARRY" and then said, "This must be your beautiful wife"! Like CHEERS, it felt great to go somewhere, "Where everybody knows your name" We were seated and got to view the open fire oven. I had dropped off 42 roses the week before for them to put on our table, for my wife. Tropical storm Debbie, and downtown flooding prevented us from going exactly on our anniversary. I was worried that store bought roses, would not last thru the weeklong delay, Joel assured me everything would be taken care of, and not to worry. As we were seated, there on the table, sat 42 roses. Fresh, and arranged with baby breath flowers included. I was told the young lady with the hostess had arranged them. They were gorgeous! They also had an anniversary card on the table from them, not something I had dropped off. The service was tremendous, the food indescribably outstanding! I have only had steak Tar Tar once before in my life, and was greatly afraid to try it again, as the first time was awful. It was superb! They take great pride in the presentation of their food products. I felt like I was in an episode of Master Chef. We had the steak, as well as the Sea bass, okra, corn, sweet potatoes, and the Caramel cake. Everything absolutely wonderful! This was a truly wonderful and memorable dining experience!! I would give 100 stars, and a Siskel and Ebert two thumbs up! There was only one thing I was disappointed about. No sweet tea! Were In Charleston SC, no sweet tea. Everything else totally made up for it though. The staff even had everyone present sign a menu, wishing us a happy anniversry1 I will most definatly go there again for a special occasion. Thanks to Andrew, Joel, and the entire staff, for making this night special!!”
“We hit the jackpot when we were seated at Eric’s table for dinner. He was incredibly attentive, called us by our name and took our dining experience to the next level. Sorelle has exceeded all expectations in service, the food!!! (So amazing - thanks chef Adam) and atmosphere. It is such a beautiful and welcoming environment. We are looking forward to going back!”
“Amazing host, chef and storyteller. The historic dishes were all tasty and well presented. The best thing we did in Charleston.”
“Always amazing!! Cooking class with Chef Tyler was so fun!! Zero George is our go to in Charleston!”
“Guys. GUYS! When I say you need to go here immediately, I mean you need to go here immediately! I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to eat at spectacular restaurants in my life, and Raw Lab is top three of my most cherished experiences culinarily of all time. Kevin is amazing both as a host and chef. His passion for what he presents is only surpassed by the dishes he creates. The attention to detail, and I mean every single detail, is so perfectly executed, and it was a dining experience I will never forget! Amazing evening. Spectacular food. 10 ⭐️s”
“Amazing host, chef and storyteller. The historic dishes were all tasty and well presented. The best thing we did in Charleston.”
“Oak has a great reputation for Charleston's best steaks and sides, atmosphere and service. Dining in the heart of downtown Charleston is the crowning gem! Hands down, Charleston's best!”
“Our first visit and definitely will not be our last. Our Waiter, Lawrence, was most helpful on recommendations and the salmon and the scallops were the best we have ever had. Plan on taking your time and enjoying your meal. Nice relaxing atmosphere.”

“One of THE BEST SANDWICHES I have ever had! The #2 Porchetta sandwich had porchetta, cracklin, great funky provolone, sautéed broccoli rabe, salsa Verde and house blistered long hots on their house ciabatta bread. We also tried the prime rib sandwich and the roasted mushrooms. They have the porchetta roasted in the rotisserie on display! This is purely a sandwich shop that crafts works of art. It has frills but they are down to business. The menu is small but executed in a way that does great homage to the heritage of their offerings.”
“I must give Bertha Kitchen Restaurant 5 stars plus 5 hand twirls and 5 snaps.
My husband and I flew in from Sacramento, California, for a family Reunion which starts on Friday however, he wanted fried fish and red rice today. We looked up Soul Food Restaurants on google and we discovered Bertha’s Kitchen. When we arrived at the restaurant there was a long line which went fast.
The staff was so wonderful it was coming to my family home for lunch.
My husband ordered fried fish, ored rice and mac and cheese. Don’t judge me ( I am on vacation) I ordered fried chicken wings, lima beans, rice, yams and bread pudding. We really enjoyed our food, with homemade corn bread, sweet tea and service. Before I leave I will be back for oxtails.”
“So happy we found this place. Came into town for 4 days and came here three of the nights, we really enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere of the bar! The staff is very friendly and we loved the variety of cocktails!”
“Best cappuccino I’ve had since moving here 3 years ago! Also the Palmier cookie was amazing. We got ours to-go but there is a cute, small seating area and outdoor patio.”
“Went to this place with my cousins on a women’s trip. The foooood was amazing. We ordered the avacado toast, a breakfast biscuit and 2 pastries along with coffees. The line was long to get in and the young ladies could have been a little faster taking orders but they were attentive and trying. Just so many people trying to order. A cute patio and a cute inside. I love this place. It was awesome”
“The Grasshopper Toast was an amazing blend of flavors!”
“I had an iced Dirty Chai Latte that blew my mind! Sarah at the counter was super nice and let me try their chai mix before, and I fell in love! Their cute outdoor seating area was also very charming.”
“Great little place. I enjoyed my vegan sandwich. Garrett is very pleasant, made my day.”
“Craig is not only incredibly nice and easy-going, but a GENIUS with these sammies. Kai blew me away with the manapua, too. Feels like every week I'm asking my roommates if they want Cold Shoulder. 10/10”
“Love sightsee shop!!! The worst part about leaving Charleston was leaving sightsee.”
“We adored this place! We accidentally found the downtown Charleston location during our stay there at a close AirBNB! We visited 3 times in our 2.5 days there. Then, we passed by the John’s Island location on our way to Kiawah and decided to make the 25 min drive the next morning for our coffee and pop tart fix! Great coffee, service, pastries, toasts and local drink and food finds!”
“Stopped in this morning and not only are the drinks great, the staff is super friendly. My new favorite coffee shop in Charleston. Keep up the great work.”

“Excellent experience! Our waitress was very attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. The rabbit was AMAZING! Will definitely be back!”
“love the atmosphere here! The chicken is my favorite—the skin was crispy and flavorful. ?The fried oyster was spot on, with fresh oysters and the perfect sauce. Plus, frozen gin and tonic is a good reviving drink for brunch! Highly recommend!”
“This was a first for my wife and I to experience French Cuisine for her Burfday and Brasserie La Banque met all of our expectations and also surpassed those through their hospitality and being sure their patrons were treated as royalty. We will definitely be dining there again as soon as possible.”
“Best meal we had in Charleston. Definitely not old school Charleston - which is a good thing! The vibe is fun, the food is flawless and creative - a kitchen that respects and integrates vegetables rather than treating them as an afterthought! Unique wines and incredibly knowledgeable front of house staff. This is what great dining is all about!”
“Came for lunch today and the food, service and portions were great! Highly recommend the Buttermilk Catfish Sandwich with the sauce that comes with truffle fries instead of mayo!”
“Absolutely fantastic experience from beginning to end with quite a few surprise and delights! Our server, Corrigan, was pleasant and had wonderful recommendations — we enjoyed talking with him!
We started our meal with a caesar salad that we shared — definitely big enough to share. I ordered the Ricotta Agnolotti and my husband had the Australian Wagyu with lobster accompaniment. Mouth watering!!! We also ordered a side of the roasted carrots and Au Gratin Potatoes. We paired our entire meal with a Chenin Blanc from Vouvray — their wine menu was fantastic.
We can't wait to come back to Charleston just to eat here!”
“Great places to eat and enjoy a good drink and people”
