“I won't repeat what everyone else has said; I want to say this place is great for vegetarians. Only one veggie entree -- the cauliflower with harrisa -- and it was one of the most delicious things any of us, even the meat eaters, had ever had. Four of the five appetizers, which are generously portioned, were meat free, so everyone feasted.”

“We recently visited Charleston and forgot to make dinner reservations, that’s when we happed on to The Royal Tern. Despite no reservations, they gladly seated us at a great table. The food was exquisite, everything from the Raw Bar, the fried shrimp, to the halibut. The halibut was prepared perfectly and was so unique; the ingredients worked together in delicious synergy. My cocktail was on-point, too. As a home cook, being able to watch the chefs prepare the meals was fascinating. Mad respect for their craft. Met one of the owners as he was making his rounds in the dining room, and he was a lovely person. He even printed a map w/shortcuts for us since traffic is so bad in the Charleston area. Highly recommend, will definitely be back next time we’re in town.”

“Absolutely love this new cafe!!. It is in such a great location on the way to Kiawah Island. To Go options, smoothies, brunch options, coffee, alcohol, picnic options, indoor sit down dining, and outdoor air down dining options. Atmosphere is super fresh, clean, everyone is so friendly and kind. We were a bit nervous stopping at a new place but absolutely fell in love. We also have two little boys and we did not feel uncomfortable or a nuisance. We often times run into that feeling when eating but that was not the case. They also had a refrigerator full of all local business products from local alcohol to local bagels to local ice cream. We will be definitely stopping by next time we go to Kiawah and also we will be bringing all of our local friends. Such a nice warm welcome change when it comes to places to eat in the Kiawah area.”

“Whenever we get out of state visitors, we always bring them to the Tomato Shed. Such a gem with authentic local cuisine ! And the gift shop is always a hit. It is worth the drive !”

“Ignore the bad reviews. If you want authentic food, this is the place. The food is delicious. People are so use to garbage tacos and don't know what a real authentic tacos are. Also want good service? Come at not a busy hour. Some customers are so impatient and rude! Period!”

“This is an amazing restaurant! The atmosphere and service is top notch and the chef is amazing. We had the pimento chitin start followed by the fried chicken with cheese Mac and collard greens and finished it off with banana pudding. Simple dishes but to prepare them correctly takes great talent, to prepare them the way they did takes great talent. My compliments to the chef!!!”

“We adored this place! We accidentally found the downtown Charleston location during our stay there at a close AirBNB! We visited 3 times in our 2.5 days there. Then, we passed by the John’s Island location on our way to Kiawah and decided to make the 25 min drive the next morning for our coffee and pop tart fix! Great coffee, service, pastries, toasts and local drink and food finds!”

“Kids food was reasonably priced and portions were solid. The seafood platter was not great and looked thrown together quickly, but tacos were fantastic. The view and atmosphere were also wonderful. I would probably go back just for that part of the experience.”

“This place is fabulous. Chicken piccata with the best buttery lemon garlic sauce. Pasta fagioli tastes like my grandmas. The arancini are the best ones I’ve found so far. Cocktails are fantastic. Then topped it off with homemade Pistachio cheesecake 🤤. All of this tops wild olive any day and not as pricey. Closest authentic Italian I’ve been able to find in the area. Food tastes like home!”
