Five stars all around, absolute 10/10 experience in every way. One of the best meals we have EVER ever had. Every dish was unbelievable, just perfect bite after perfect bite. The staff were also wonderful and made our experience so special. The whole vibe was wonderful, I genuinely did not want to leave. We will return to Charleston just to eat here again!
The best Beef Wellington I’ve ever had. This dish requires a lot of technique and it was perfectly executed. Gordon Ramsay would be impressed!!
We also ordered the focaccia (stracciatella very fresh) and the charred cabbage (innovative preparation and very tasty).

Best dining experience I’ve had in Charleston, hands down. Some of the best food I’ve had in my life even, and I’ve been to many Michelin starred restaurants. Service was equally impeccable. The host was so kind to have seen that I was heading to the bathroom to try to get stains off my white shirt and went out of his way to give me stain remover, and I didn’t even ask. Merci offers a special and intimate dining experience, living up to its hype with terrific 5-star service. The warm space provides a cozy yet lively energy, making it perfect for a memorable meal. Guests can enjoy watching the action in the open kitchen, where dishes are crafted with meticulous care and attention by Chef Alex and his wonderful staff.
The cuisine at Merci is outstanding, with many dishes being hard to pick a favorite from. The Beef Wellington is a definite star, taking 50 minutes to prepare and served to perfection with an incredible sauce poivrade, fabulously decorated French pastry dough, handcrafted vegetables, and whipped duchess potatoes. Other highly recommended small plates and starters include focaccia bread with Benton’s cured ham and honey, tuna Crudo, and beef tartare on handcrafted charcoal brioche bread with tallow aioli. The steak tartar has also received praise, served with black bread infused with seeds and activated charcoal, making for a brilliant pairing. For those who appreciate vegetables, the leek dish is a standout, described as something one could actually crave.
Dessert options are equally impressive, such as the chocolate mousse with black cocoa crumbles, which has been noted as a perfect finish to the meal. The wine selection, featuring pairings like French Bordeaux, complements the meal beautifully. This charming French gem is a blessing for the Charleston dining scene, offering a romantic and intimate setting with great food, wine, and personality.
