“Tried the watermelon lime & coconut sorbet & pistachio gelato. All were very flavorful & the farthest thing from artificial tasting. The watermelon tasted exactly like the real thing. You can tell they get their ingredients locally sourced!”

“Group of 7 with 2 birthdays, and we were greeted with a complementary round of mini frozen painkiller shooters! Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us through the menu, she clearly enjoys her job!! I ordered the Wreckfish special; incredible! Others in our group loved their meals as well. We will certainly return on our next visit.”

“The food was excellent. The server was a little slow in coming back to our table. It was early and she wasn't busy, but when she initially asked if we were ready to order, we weren't, having never been there. It was almost 20 minutes before she came back.
We had grilled broccolini, and mexican street corn (both were really good). We ordered fish and chips and something with shrimp. All was great. Then we had to find our server to get our check then another long wait to get my credit card back and the receipt. Too bad. There was plenty of food to take dinner home to my husband.”

“Always enjoy dining outside (inside good too) at Mex 1. We’ve always had friendly and attentive waitstaff and the tacos are so good you want to eat more than you should. Yesterday our chips were thin, hot and fresh.. also making you eat more than you should. Highly recommended, but make sure you leave a table for me.”

“Visiting from OKC, our family recommended the beef tenderloin dinner with mashed potatoes and asparagus...they said it's their favorite place on Sullivans Island. They were so RIGHT! The meal was cooked absolutely perfectly and the tenderloin was pure beef...no fat or grizzle. Potatoes were delicious and the asparagus crispy...everything served hot. The service was excellent!”

“I am not sure why people are saying they couldn’t get a coffee today (a Sunday)! I was there at 3:30 today and had a nice hot cup of coffee. The nice girl behind bar even offered to spiff it up with free syrups and different milks since their espresso machine down at the moment. I always have nothing but great experiences at the Co-Op. Continue to do what you do!”

“Stopped for a sweet treat before leaving the island. My sister had to do a u-turn and it was worth trying this ice cream spot for the 1st time. The ice cream was DELICIOUS on the fresh homemade waffle cone. A must TRY!”

“What a great spot. We sat at the raw bar and had a fully curated experience led by Nick. He shucked his way through the various oyster options while giving us a description of all the varieties. Not only did he shock close to 300 oysters while we sat there but multitasked a thorough description of the options while we sipped on some of the best cocktails in town. The Bad John is something all patrons need to try. To chat with a Nova Scotian local who can talk up the best oysters in the Carolina’s was such a fresh surprise.11/10. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.”

The peel & eat shrimp so plump and served ice cold I have craved them since I had them. The service was above and beyond. The atmosphere encouraged private chatter but also conversation with next table easily. Friendly and cheerful and above all excellent food served with smiles, suggestions, and ease. I will never visit Charleston again without making sure to dine here. (Do not eat the soup. I actually sent it back to the kitchen. Never have I had to do that. ) Highly recommend again and again for everything else.”

“Terrific dinner experience. We sat at the bar and Laura took our order for food and drinks. She is a professional, friendly, knowledgeable about the food, drinks, history of the restaurant. We commented on the excellent quality of the food and drinks. She is very much a people person and fun to talk to. We told her we are from Hawaii and eat fish daily and also clean and scale all the fish we catch.

Dietary restrictions: Laura asked if any of us had allergies.

Parking: Classy ambience, emaculate, and though filled with patrons, quiet enough to talk to each other at normal conversation levels.”
