Sushi | Bar Charleston Reviews
Incredible experience! Every detail felt very curated and special. From sake to sushi, each flavor was unique and creative. The chefs were very careful of an allergies and adapted to those who did have an allergy. Chef Matt and Max were so professional and knowledgeable. Som Sean had an extensive selection of sakes, knew so much about each flavor profile, and helped us pick the perfect drink. All three were so personable and enjoyable. It felt like having an intimate dinner party,...read full review
Went to sushi bar for my boyfriend’s birthday and had the most incredible dining experience ever. The chefs are amazingly talented and Shawn the Sake Sommelier was the best. His knowledge in Sake and just all around great hospitality and enthusiasm were contagious. He made the dining experience that much more memorable. Can’t wait to come back here again.
An unforgettable 17-course omakase experience from beginning to end. Every dish was presented with such intention, artistry and care. The chefs were incredibly knowledgeable and deeply passionate about their craft, which made the entire evening feel so immersive and special. Sean, the sake sommelier, was EXTREMELY professional and elevated the experience even further with his expertise and thoughtful pairings.

Sushi | Bar Charleston offers an intimate 18-course omakase experience in a 12-seat room around the chefs' counter. The experience lasts about two hours and feels special without being stuffy. Every bite is amazing, intentional, and beautifully presented with top of the line ingredients. The chefs are incredible, detail-oriented, and rotate presenting each course, explaining them and keeping it interactive and fun. Standout courses include a bright lemon bite, an indulgent truffle bite, the Wagyu, and the temaki toro tartare. The house cucumbers served as a palate cleanser are also noted.
The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and provides five-star hospitality. A sommelier guides guests through spectacular wine pairings, a Japanese whiskey experience, or sake options. The ambiance is intimate, though some guests found the techno music and dark drapes unappealing. A half-hour wait before the first bite was noted by one reviewer, while others found the pacing seamless. The experience is a splurge, costing approximately $265 to $350+ per person, and is highly recommended for a special occasion or date night. A 20% tip is included. Reservations are essential and should be made at least 30 days in advance. While some guests encountered minor service hiccups, the overwhelming consensus is that it provides a unique, unforgettable, and memorable dining experience.
