“I’ve been loving second state !❤️ It is so amazing🤩 to have a company so obviously passionate about coffee! Right here in Charleston. They are bringing in some wonderful beans 👍and I’ve been really enjoying them! & having fun experimenting with some of their Ethiopians for espresso. I am so sick and tired of Starbucks! and how typically their brewed coffee no matter if you get the dark ,medium or light roast, is all too smoky. And they all have a similar smoky burnt flavor profile. Why they don’t offer a different flavor profile so you can get away from that smoky burnt flavor is beyond me.!🤔 maybe it’s a cost thing? so it’s very refreshing to be able to buy these wonderful beans or go into one of the second state locations and enjoy some really nice coffee! I’ve been to the downtown Charleston location. I’ve been to the Mount Pleasant location. And I’m excited to go check out the new Navy yard location and see how they do with their new slayer espresso machine! 🤩❤️😻👍😊“

“On a mission to have breakfast today, without waiting in a long line, I stumbled on a jewel in the former location of soul food restaurants, Deacon Burton’s/Son’s Place in Inman Park. The Breakfast Burrito, Salmon on Toast, champagne, etc., were delicious and Complimentary!! Unbeknown to us, restaurant was having a “private intro” to the community and a staff training event. Melanie (Owner/Host) welcomed us in like we were family. Her husband Micheal was so excited to hear about my many visits to Deacon Burton’s. Can’t wait to go back. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️“

“We adored this place! We accidentally found the downtown Charleston location during our stay there at a close AirBNB! We visited 3 times in our 2.5 days there. Then, we passed by the John’s Island location on our way to Kiawah and decided to make the 25 min drive the next morning for our coffee and pop tart fix! Great coffee, service, pastries, toasts and local drink and food finds!“

It was our first time...my Husband picked from Online Coffee Shop Listings. WOW! What a Beautiful Find! The loveliest employees that included Josh, our outstanding Barista, and sweet Olivia that placed our orders with perfection! Our Iced Caramel Macchiato Beverages were among the best we've ever had. The Cheese Danish we split was delicious! Warm, lively conversation abound with the staff and including one regular customer as well. She puts her heart and soul in every single coffee concoction she comes up with. “This was the best coffee I had all trip looking back. Only made it here once but they make a great mocha. Saw other review talking about the mocha and wanted to try. Seemed to have other good foods in here as well but did not try them. For me... I like to try these other places than the big chains when I'm visiting new areas. I know there are other options around but this would definitely be my stop if I'm this area. And as usual to this area, everyone is super nice. I would say this mocha was top 5 of ones I've had. The first still up in New York but this was kind of on par!“

“I stumbled upon this place recently and I'm obsessed!!
We were greeted upon entry with friendly faces and they were very accommodating.
I tried the black sesame cardamom latte and was pleasantly surprised! I love that their syrups are homemade.
The bonus 🌟s for service comes from the beautiful latte art and the sweet faces that the barista drew on my kid's steamer 'coffees'.
The breakfast sandwich and every quiche we've had here is divine! I love the garlic aoili on the sandwich, something fairly small with a big impact.
I especially love the outdoor area. It's all gated in and perfect for parents to drink coffee while the kids play.
Overall, we can't wait to return!“

“I’ve walked by this place SO many times and decided to pop in one evening with a hankering for ice cream. When you walk in they had so much to offer - from ice cream to local goodies, t shirts, novelties and homemade baklava. They had a good variety of ice cream flavors and I settled on their chocolate mocha which was delicious! The guys behind the counter were so nice and noticed I was in the food and beverage industry and offered me a 10% discount which was very nice.
This place definitely caught me by surprise and I find it to be a really cool local spot right by the market.

“Addended from prior: I had an excessive wait time(>40m) in the drive thru line on a busy Sunday. Owner reached out personally after the bad experience which goes a long way. Definitely will go back as smoothies are always great, but I would recommend ordering ahead or popping inside if the drive thru line looks long!“

We got the raspberry lemon tart, which wasn’t too sweet. We got the ham and Swiss croissant. The croissant was perfectly buttery and crispy. The coffee was nicely brewed. The star of the show was the mortadella with the pistachio cream and arugula focaccia.

The owners were French. Very warm and great sense of humor.

Only outside seating, didn’t bother us because it was partially shaded and I had a fan. Not bad for a Charleston August.

Hidden gem. We’ll definitely go back.“
