Hmmm I really enjoyed bar George but a few things probably keeps it from being one I’ll frequent. First they only had one variety of oyster. And it was ok. But then they didn’t have horseradish for it. I get that everyone wants to be fancy with mignonette but have a lil on the side for us common folks. LOL
Now all that said I also had a small peach Caesar salad that was delicious and the drinks have the best curly straw around!

Pathetic. 2 cold donuts for $16. Add a dozen oysters and you’re at $70. Waiter was horrid, didn’t introduce herself, the place, dropped off our desert before dinner , and presented the check before even getting us waters. A complete JOKE of an establishment. Stay away.

What a lovely surprise!! We stood outside to wait for almost 30 min and this is without knowing what to expect. Inside has a dive bar vibe but that’s ok because some of the best dive bars have great food. This place didn’t disappoint. We got a dz oysters and they were fantastic. You must also get the grit cakes. Sooooo delicious. It comes with a pimento cheese dip that was glorious. The kitchen is open so one look at the chef and I could tell he was good. Don’t ask me how. That’s my secret. This spot is poppin and lively. To wait 30 min on a Wednesday tells you that. As for drinks I’m not really engaging right now so I’ll say they can work on their mocktail game. My fellow diners enjoyed the drink special though so that’s all I can say on the matter. I tasted the chicken and it was cooked to perfection. I’m all over the place in this review just to say I was happy with what I had and I’d go again.

We were seated at the bar, we were there at around 6pm it's a small place so it seemed busy. The service was good as well as the food. The drinks were definitely the best part of the meal. We ordered the chicken, Greek hotdog and fried grits all which were very tasty. But my fave was the hot dog, they had a balance of flavors.

I love how good this bar is without taking itself too seriously. Their menu is affordable and includes hotdogs and donuts but they are still so good and are accompanied by some of the most unique cocktails I’ve had in a long time.
I love this place! It’s a regular stop after the Pourhouse. Usually I order a house/well bourbon on the rocks and pay cash. It’s always been $8. Tonight I gave them a $20 bill and got $7 back. I was gentle and kind (I think the bartenders would agree) and said I think y’all forgot a $5 bill.They showed me their little hand held pay system and I was clearly able to see there’s a $3 up charge for getting ice with your house bourbon.I hope I am not being rude, but that seemssilly to me. Maybe I need to be thanking my previous bartenders here for not charging me $3 for ice. I hope I’m not throwing them under the bus. However this ice up charge that’s a bit extreme seems silly to me.The reason I’m writing this review is there obviously seems to be a discrepancy. I still love this place and think it’s fantastic. I just want to communicate so y’all can figure this out.Thanks for the many nights of amazing service and great vibes! I’ll be back.

Bar George has consistently been an establishment on James island that delivers cocktail appeal of downtown but on the island. Topper is the kind of bartender I wish I had at every bar I walked into. No shortage of personality and efficiency, that’s for sure. Made me feel right at home at home and mixed up exactly what I was looking for. Best vibe on JI if you’re looking for an elevated experience. Happy staff great owners. Proud of you Joey!
