Basic Kitchen delivers a fresh, health-conscious approach to dining that feels perfectly suited to Charleston’s laid-back charm. The ingredients taste clean and seasonal, and every dish has a bright, thoughtful balance of flavor and texture. You can tell there’s genuine care behind the food and presentation.
The coffee, however, was quite bitter and unpleasant, which stood out against the otherwise light, refreshing meal. Service was friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming atmosphere and overall good experience.
One small drawback is that some dishes arrived with ingredients not listed on the menu, which can be frustrating for guests with dietary preferences or allergies.
Overall, Basic Kitchen is a great spot for fresh, mindful dining with excellent service: just a few small details away from being a five-star experience.

Everything about Basic Kitchen was great! Only reason for 4 stars vs 5 is I wish I had known about the “boutique” portion sizes - ordered the apple pancakes to split and it’s a single pancake. Feel like server could have given us a heads up or suggested we each order our own. The one pancake that did arrive was delicious!

We came here for dinner and absolutely loved the vibe — it had a romantic, cozy feel and the service was impressively fast. We ordered the vegan kale salad, corn ribs, and cauliflower tikka masala — everything was fresh and flavorful, but if you get just one dish, make it the corn ribs. They were outstanding! The fall-inspired drinks were also delicious and perfect for the season. Definitely a must-stop spot in Charleston for anyone looking for great vegan options and a warm atmosphere.

1 juice + 1 lunch dish = $45 after tip.. and I unfortunately didn’t feel full afterwards. This was with me looking for the cheaper options that contain a protein.
Ingredients were fresh, staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was nice.
I don't like to throw this term around and I can only speak for the lunch but it was overpriced.
There are many places in the area you can get similar dishes for less with larger portions.
