I have a long, productive day where I celebrating accepting a new job with CPI Security and hanging out with Dad today who lives adlund the corner on Society. Both my parents came here back in the 60's. It was phenomenal and very enjoyable! They staff killer - very friendly. Also, I'm a former craft cocktail bartender with a fairly refined palette and that Manhattan was fire! 🔥✌🏼

These guys should get some toilet seats for their toilets. Also, both bartenders don't need to hit on my girlfriend while I use the bathroom that doesn't have a toilet seat.

I had a great time! I came to watch a football game and the staff & my experience was great. Abby was my bartender and she was so helpful and kind! She made drink suggestions as well as answering any questions I had! I’m new to Charleston and it was such a fun environment and the drinks were great. My better half and I have once again been to Charleston visiting and frequenting old spots and also making fresh memories in new ones listening to the fine suggestions of locals and people in the know. Big John's Tavern on E. Bay is one such establishment where people greet you warmly and are authentically courteous. Right off the bat we took notice of KYLE'S skillful ways in crafting great cocktails. He wasn't just an ordinary bartenter but rather a master mixologost. All of his drinks were perfectly balanced and went off the so called menu in tasked him to make various one off cocktails and other concoctions during our stay. We thoroughly relished our time there as well as the level of care he put into every drink and most importantly appreciated his fine customer service skills. We will certainly be returning here during our next visit to this charming city.
If visiting Charleston, Big John’s is a must for amazing cocktails, great food, and the most welcoming low country hospitality and friendliness. One of the best historic pubs in Charleston!

Incredible food service and atmosphere. Tucked in a beautiful part of Charleston this tavern exemplifies what a bar should be. Make sure to ask for Kyle he made me an incredible New York whiskey sour and helped me plan my next stop in town. Will definitely be returning and recommending this spot to friends and family.
