They say they don't take reservation in their website, so we waited from 4:15.
At 5 pm, they said they are full with reservation for tonight. We had to give up. Dishonest.
Innovative and some dishes surprised us cauliflower or kobe beef .
Others were below the 167raw or classic restaurants like magnolia where the service is impeccable .

Food is really good. Flavors are not really super pronounced. Quality of food is really good. Being able to communicate is hard given small space. Wait is usually more than an hour and by the time you put yourself down it might be whatever time is still available.
Overall good experience, but not outstanding as I thought.

This restaurant lives up to the hype that you hear about it!! Yes, I stood in line in the cold for an hour waiting for the doors to open. Yes, when it did open it didn't take long to be seated and people that had to step aside to wait for their remaining people to arrive, they didn't wait long to be seated either! Now let's get into the raw bar section; the bluefin tuna belly toast was something I didn't know my palate needed. I love how the oysters had little descriptions of how they tasted, that was very helpful. Ordered a few dishes from the small plate section and they were amazing. I wish I would have ordered double of the lamb ribs because they were so tender and seasoned well. The grill oysters were like a journey of flavors in my mouth that I couldn't get enough of! The chili garlic shrimp from the large plate section is one of my favorites, it's a delight in every bite. Last but definitely not least was the whole flounder with the ginger scallion sauce and it was tender, juicy, and flavorful in every bite. I enjoyed this dining experience very much because the staff was very attentive and helpful. My waiter Hunter was so kind and he had wonderful recommendations on the dishes. I will be back and I know it's still going to be amazing!!!
P.S. My best friend use to reside here, it was an apartment before being converted to a restaurant. So my experience was nostalgic.

The food was great. The staff, particularly those behind the kitchen bar were so compelling, engaging and really made for an exceedingly wonderful experience.
The turnips were the surprising winner of the night. The bone marrow was also excellent. Celery salad was great. Just try whatever they have and enjoy!

Hostess was incredibly rude. There is no reason to treat customers with disdain.
One of the best seafood restaurants in
Charleston or anywhere. We go to Charleston twice a year and we stop by Chubby fish every time. There is enough variety in the menu that there is always something new and the seafood is just that fresh and spectacular. We’re big oyster fans and they have some of the best. Whether you go for the crudo or ceviche you can’t go wrong. We pair a starter and salad with a dozen oysters and whatever whole fish they have for the eve for a family of 4. Getting a table requires lining up in the sun for about an hour but it is worth the wait just bring sunscreen/hat/fan and get to know your fellow foodies waiting in line. Make sure to leave room at the end for some life raft treats for dessert

The coolest dining experience. We sat at the counter area where we had a front row to the kitchen and hard working chefs at work. We got the caviar sliders, curry, and so much more and everything was absolutely delicious.

Amazing restaurant with some of the tastiest food I’ve ever had. The caviar sandwiches were delicious, the lamb ribs were so savory, and oh my the grilled oysters were fantastic. I totally understand why there is a lot of hype around this spot. Waiting in line is worth the wait. We highly recommend dining here when you get a chance!

Hands down one of the best restaurants in CHS! Been coming here for years and will continue to do so. Special shoutout to Kate and the whole FOH team for always bringing their A game.

Waited over an hour in line starting an hour before they opened, only to be turned away because they were full (and we weren’t even close to getting a table). If the restaurant is that small and so many people get there early, they need to take reservations or at least tell people in line when they’re expected to be at capacity. Completely disrespectful of people’s time - so many people were turned away. Won’t be coming back.

The Hungry Detective and Special Agent Deirdre had the most fabulous experience Sunday night at Chubby FIsh…Let me start by saying I usually don’t stand in line for an hour and a half but it is definitely worth the effort!!!
The doors open promptly at 5 PM and we got a great spot at the bar. I would also call it a chef‘s table where you can see all the action firsthand. We ordered a great bottle of Gruner wine that was lovely🍷🍷🍷
SERVICE: Haley went above and beyond the “Call of Duty” and knows her stuff and the menu as she made great choices and expert advice…Haley made our night and dining experience!!! A true rock star!!!
FOOD: We started with the Wahoo small plate and the fish was flaky white and cooked perfectly in a light tempura finish.
Second: We’d had the Red Drum that was served up in a bowl of cabbage and this incredible broth…We could have had a bowl broth with bread as a meal it was so good!!!
Third: Lamb ribs that fell off the bone…superb!!!
Fourth: Gnocci and mushrooms…I wish we had this first because it was incredible but we hit the wall at this point!!!
NOTE: As we sat and watched the staff prepare the evening courses like a well oiled machine. I noticed a whole fish snapper being prepared that was $68 and looked fabulous. It definitely could’ve been a plate for two people… next time I think we will save room for the whole fish it looked wonderful!
VERDICT: Guilty is sin as and well deserved of a Michelin star Chubby FIsh truly knocked it out out of the park. The attention to detail was over the top and everything tasted wonderful. I can’t wait to return.
