First time at Chubby Fish. The line was increadable so why see what's it all about. A nice small seafood restaurant with high prices. Had the oysters as apps, couldn't't see by taste what the difference was in the six I tried. I ordered a main dish but after 30 minutes the waitress informed me they had not started my meal. I asked for a check and they didn't charge me but neither did they admit they did something wrong. I am a Chef in the Yachting industry so it seems there is too much hype for the average restaurant . I spent a total of one hour and fourty five minutes in total for six oysters and one beer. This would upset anyone!

Wow! Where to even begin?!We showed up at 4:30 on a saturday and the line was already quite long, but we were able to get in. Highly recommend showing up early to check in and get a time for dinner and use the time in between to explore the town.Despite getting let in half an hour after our "reserved" time, the food was sensational and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend soft shell crab tostada (unfortunately a seasonal item) and the not fried chicken dessert (chicken version of ice cream). definitely glad we made time to fit the chubby fish into our trip

By far the best restaurant in Charleston, if not the country. I travel all over the world three weeks out of the year and this spot is easily my number one restaurant EVER! The food is consistently delicious, the staff are top-notch ALWAYS making sure your glasses are full and you're properly educated on the menu. The place is always packed. If you're not there AT LEAST 30 minutes prior to the doors opening, you've just shot yourself in the foot. A few of my personal faves - caviar sandwich, beef tartare, chili garlic shrimp. But don't miss out on the celery salad if it's still on the menu; Chef James is so dang creative that he only uses what's local and in season. My best advice: grab 3 of your friends (at least) and order one of everything. It all comes out as it's ready and served family style so just dig in. You won't regret it.

Truth, stopped by this restaurant Nominated James Bear Chef, and YES waited an hour outside to barely get in the first round due to them not have reservations. The next disappointment was the horrible service. Beer ran out and my entree was never fired. The missed up the order! Had oysters and though it a main menu items they were nothing special! I can believe James Beard nominated? I do not see this with the food nor any other reason for it being special. I spent 1 hour and 45 minutes for six oysters and one beer. Really!
