Friendly staff, decent food. We had braised ribeye tacos and swordfish at our table. The tacos were rich and loaded with more lettuce and onion than ribeye, not bad just not great. The swordfish dishes were well made, one ordered low country style but that order was not correct so additional food was brought out quickly. The stand out for us were the hush puppies appetizer and the blue cheese & bacon coleslaw. Both were great. Our server was also the bartender, she was busy but very nice. Our table was a high top in the main area between the bar and kitchen, two oddly shaped tables that were too small for three adults, food and drinks. You can expect the per person cost to be $50+ if ordering a drink and shared appetizers for the table.

Excellent seafood restaurant in Charleston!! We had the best service from our waitress, I do not remember her name, but I know she was a former gymnast and had a great conversation with my daughter. We had the crab dip, amazing, the jambalaya, and the cashew Crusted Mahi. The Mahi was hands down the best fish I have had all year! It melted like butter.

Good food and service. Enjoyed the stuffed flounder. Also, try the crab soup and crab dip. Both were excellent. Check out the lighting!

Our waiter Nick was awesome at offering suggestions when we asked him what he likes. All four of us had different dishes and we all sampled each others. They were all fantastic! The atmosphere is quaint and relaxing, yet had some energy to add to the environment. We highly recommend Coast Bar and grill for a fabulous dinner!

This was a really disappointing experience. The place is nestled in Hutson Alley, which gives it one of the most unique vibes in Charleston. So, I wanted to like it.Like a lot of places in Charleston, there's no direct parking. Not a huge issue as there's a parking lot almost directly across the street. That's about where the positive attributes end.The crab dip had really good flavor... once I got past all of the shell that was in it. The mashed potatoes weren't just lumpy but had literal chunks of potato in them. Then, there was the steak. I'm not even sure where to start with the steak. To begin with, it was a ribeye. I've seen some pretty fatty ribeyes before. It's to be expected with that cut of meat. This... was not that. This steak was easily 90% fat. I ordered it medium rare. One side of the steak was absolute burnt to the point of charcoal. The other side was probably close to what it should have been. The inside, well, I could deal with rare. This was raw.I've been to a lot of places and had a lot of steaks. It pains me to say, but this may have very well been the worst steak I've ever had.The one positive I can offer for the food is that the shrimp was on the good side of average. The service is the only thing that gets this place a second star. Honestly, it was "ok." It wasn't great, but it also wasn't terrible. The bartender was very nice and happy to give her recommendations. The negative side of the service was that she just wasn't really available. Mind you that it wasn't the dinner rush yet, and there was an additional bartender present. Both of them would be there one second but then gone for ten minutes. Again, it was just generally kind of "ok" service.Overall, that cook needs a microwave. Sadly, there was a lot of potential, but this place really dropped the ball.

This is a two-part review, on a Tuesday evening my wife and I dropped into Coast for a drink and dessert. The restaurant was completely crowded, however, there was a single high top for two adjacent to the hostess stand. We asked if we could get drinks and maybe a dessert there. This was about 90 minutes prior to the show we were to attend at the Charleston Music Hall. The General Manager Andres Contreras overheard our request of the hostess, stepped in and immediately granted our request. He checked in with us several minutes after our drinks arrived and I inquired about their Jambalaya, he assured me that the chief was from Louisianna and it was a high-quality dish. So, we made a reservation for Saturday evening when we were to attend another concert next door.On Saturday, we had the PEI Mussels appetizer which was awesome, my wife had the grilled shrimp and I had the Jambalaya both dinners were excellent. We shared the Fried Apple dessert also excellent. Andres remembered us from Tuesday and checked in with us. This attention made us feel special. We highly recommend Coast as a destination dining experience if you are visiting Charleston. It is next to the Charleston Music Hall and across the street from the Charleston Visitor Center. There is a lot of public parking in the area as well.

The best seafood place I’ve ever been to! Everything from our soups, appetizers, & entrees to desserts were amazing. The best mahi! She-crab soup was to die for. The only thing I’ll say that wasn’t incredible were the cocktails (mule & mojitos).. but the food being 100% made up for it!

We were excited to have fresh seafood while in Charleston and this fell completely short. Calamari was slimy and not firm with breading not browned and falling off, no flavor. Scallops were small, also didn't taste fresh. The fries were good, but they were completely out of ketchup. Even the server said, 'I'm not sure how that happened'. Loud atmosphere, crowded tables. It took awhile to be acknowledged, but once we were, our server was good.

Looking for a casual dining experience in downtown Charleston and came upon Coast, which is nestled in an alleyway. We went in and were quickly greeted and sat down. The atmosphere was cool, and there were plenty of date nights happening. I ordered the surf and turf with blackened salmon and ribeye which tasted good. My wife ordered the catch of the day and said it could use more flavor. Old fashioned drink was 8/10.

Excellent atmosphere tucked in a little alley. Our waitress was amazing and helped with recommendations. Drinks and food came out timely. Mojitos tasted great and The crab dip was a fun start. I got the crab stuffed flounder for dinner which tasted fresh. Price point vs quality was A++. Special thanks to the manager Andres for coming over and checking on us which added a special touch to a great meal.

We had the most amazing dinner here. From the happy hour bartenders to the chef helping us make our dinner choices, this place went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. An additional special shout out to the bartender at “the smallest bar in Charleston” for just being an awesome person. Do not miss this place!
