We stumbled upon Coastal Snack Bar and had a delicious meal and drinks. Grilled mahi sandwich and steak and chicken tacos with a frozen margarita. Will definitely go back!

Whomever was responsible for the changes to this place deserves an award (or a hug at least)! The menu is awesome and the food is fantastic. Amazingly fresh salad with good portion. The quarter chicken is out of this world! Tacos are delicious. The soft serve - well let’s say the whole family devoured it! Definitely a needed addition to this part of James Island! Can’t wait to try the brunch!!!

First - this place smells like they have an unmitigated mold and mildew problem- confirmed by the giant air purifier/dehumidifier they are running out in the eating area. It’s not working well?
Then there is the food. I’ve been here four different times - twice before and twice after their “closing for repairs”. It’s never been anything to write home about but it seems to have become worse. Who can screw up breakfast? Burnt pancakes, and their “thick sliced” bacon looked like to was probably the pre-cooked microwave kind, watery eggs, and the tiniest latte I’ve ever paid $5 for. Two meals totaling $50 and I could have done better at McDonalds.
Finally, there is the elephant in the room. The “snack bar” has never had anything to do with its name. There is nothing to grab and go, the menu isn’t even tapas heavy, the service is slow, and the prices are high. This could have been executed so much better. A selection of gourmet grab and go cold serve items, some organic pre-packaged snacks, a delicious well cooked tapas menu… a place to stop on the way to the beach or for a boat ride.
I miss the dark pizza bar ?

Love the new menu for lunch! It’s affordable again to eat at the corner. Keep working on the value, it’s a neighborhood haunt so keep that in mind, still a little work to do. Service is amazing! Whoever you are working the counter, keep up the great work! You always have a smile and brighten my day!
I like to see you busy. I think it would be smart to have a business lunch day or something to help drive your lunch business. DNR is right up the street and there are a lot of folks like me who work from home and have a splurge day or two. Think about adding lunch specials on your slower days!

I’ve dined at Coastal Snack Bar many times and I always leave completely satiated & happy with the service & value. I hope this convenient little restaurant stays in business. It’s one of my favorite spots on James island.
