Came here for breakfast several days while staying at the Hotel Bennett. Pretty good food. Nothing out of the ordinary, a bit slower than most breakfast places I’ve been, but the food presentation does come out wonderfully. I liked it overall. Covered under the FHR daily dining credit, so I’ll keep coming back, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come here on my own.

Went for dinner. Not the best food. Very disappointing. Our server seemed angry to be there. Very strange atmosphere. We were the only table on a Friday night.
My husband and I live in Charleston and wanted to try a new brunch spot! We very much enjoyed our meal at Gabrielle. The hotel was decorated for the holidays which was so cozy! Our food was delicious and they were able to make my meal vegetarian very easily. My chai latte was superb and we left feeling very content. A HUGE shoutout to our server Jim! He was so attentive, engaging and a genuinely nicer human. We plan to enjoy brunch at Gabrielle again and also ask for Jim to be our server!

Mixed feelings about the restaurant . Breakfast parfait and green bowl were delicious. But dinner food was from different universe. Low country furloo was not just tasteless , it was almost dangerous for my teeth. Steamed fish and shrimp components were served on rice that was caramelized and tasted like stones.

I want to be very clear at the outset: this review is only about breakfast at Gabrielle’s, not dinner. We had dinner there the night before, and it was absolutely fantastic — the food, the staff, and the entire experience were exceptional. Unfortunately, breakfast was the exact opposite and left us wishing we had gone elsewhere.
We decided to have breakfast at Gabrielle’s twice, and both times were poor experiences.
First breakfast: We waited nearly 30 minutes for a table, even though the dining room wasn’t full. Once seated, the staff seemed awkward and disorganized — fumbling with orders, bringing the wrong dishes multiple times, and forgetting my wife’s coffee twice and trying to tell her that the now cold coffee was okay.. The food itself was meh, but the overall experience felt uncomfortable and slow, as if the team had never served breakfast before. What should have been a relaxing meal turned into an hour-long ordeal.
Second breakfast: This one was far worse. Although it was a different staff, the same issues persisted — wrong orders, confused service, and general chaos. The only thing they managed to do right was keep the coffee refilled. When my meal finally arrived, I took one bite and immediately realized the food was spoiled. It was unmistakably rotten, and I felt nauseous the entire day.
It took almost ten minutes to get the waiter’s attention because he was chatting with another table. When I finally did, he took the plate away but soon returned with a replacement — even after I told him I was sick and didn’t want it. No apology, no empathy. To make things worse, nothing was taken off the bill. As we left, he hovered by the table as if afraid we weren't going to pay. I reported the incident to the hostess, who said the manager would contact me. No one ever did. Really, what I was asking was to talk to them immediately, but I guess they were unavailable. So much for caring about their service...
I don't like to write negative reviews, especially because dinner at Gabrielle’s was so good that we left singing its praises. But these breakfast experiences — especially being served spoiled food and then ignored afterward — were inexcusable and left a terrible final impression after what had been a wonderful stay.

Weird weird weird place. Off putting vibe. The food was ok but after seeing the $20 drinks $50+ entrees and strangely NO patrons…. we decided to cut our losses and go someplace else after the appetizer. The employees seemed taken aback at seeing customers, but pretended to have to check the reservation list despite the empty restaurant (bar the homeless fella loudly watching fox news at the table next to us).

The food was disappointing. The place was empty and the ambiance was strange. The drinks were expensive - over 20 dollars for a cocktail. That’s some expensive ice!
We left after ordering an appetizer because the only other occupant of the dining patio was an older homeless gentleman listening to YouTube conspiracy theories without headphones.

I would give the service and staff a solid 10.
The ambience of the dining room, lobby, entrance, etc. rates a 10+++. It is so elegant and chic!
Now for the menu choices, I was disappointed. We are both big meat eaters and the choices were very few. There were more seafood and fish items but nothing much for a meat-eater. You really only have the choice of a chicken breast or a fillet. Too bad. And the only sides are what comes with the item and that is pretty scant. The food was bland and nothing to get excited about. Needs to offer a bigger menu and some side options.
So, for us:
Service - 10
Ambiance - 10++++
Food - 6 or 7
Would we go back? If the food could improve and more choices, I would go back in a second. The place is beautiful and very special. But as it is now, I would only go back to sit in the bar or lounge and soak up the atmosphere. I would not eat there again. This is a great place to stop and have a drink before going out to a show.

Great hotel ambiance. Food was very good, but fell just below a few other restaurants we ate at during our visit at this price level. Enjoyed our experience overall.
Carissa is the absolute best!!!! Amazing drinks and amazing person with the best recommendations!!!!

The green smoothie was delicious and refreshing. The omelet and other dishes were decent, though not particularly memorable. The pricing felt a bit high for what we got, but the atmosphere was lovely and made the visit feel special. Great spot if you’re looking for a nice dining environment.

I feel compelled to leave a review for Gabrielle after reading such mixed reviews before visiting. Our experience could not have been better! The food, ambiance, and service were exceptional. My husband and I had a small wedding last weekend and picked Gabrielle for dinner afterwards with our wedding party. Angelina greeted us with a complementary glass of champagne and made us feel immediately welcome. After the complimentary brioche rolls and cornbread muffins with seasoned butter, we started our meal with the signature seafood tower, mushroom flatbread, and truffle fries- all delicious, and items we would order again. For our main courses, we enjoyed the mushroom pasta (my parents are still raving about this dish and planning to come back for it specifically), butternut squash main with lentils and romesco (a surprising winner!), the pork chop, the filet, and the chicken breast (all well-enjoyed). We closed the meal out with crème brûlées. Everything was wonderful and we will most definitely come back again! Thank you, Hotel Bennett, and Angelina, for the exceptional experience!
