We loved this restaurant. It specializes in beef entrees but also had a large selection of seafood, which is what we had. Our food was perfectly prepared and flavorful. The wine list was extensive with some of our favorite wines. Our waiter was professional and attentive. We loved the artwork on the walls and we never felt rushed. If there is any downside at all, it would be that the restaurant is not inexpensive. But again, we loved the restaurant and would highly recommend it.
Grill 225 was beautiful and had great ambiance. The steaks were delicious but expensive. We have one complaint. The Caesars salad was inedible. We should have sent it back. Stay away from it. It is a place where you go for a very special occasion. Very pricey.
The service was inadequate, as the valet was unavailable, and my overall experience was below expectations.
We go here for Christmas dinner with family every year because the decorations, service, and food are fantastic. Decorations were great—just gorgeous. And service was fantastic. However, the food was sub par. Chopped salad—not good. Steak overcooked and not well seasoned; ordered medium but was well done. Wine prices are fair; I took note of that. Overall, disappointed this time around.
Jimmy was outstanding! He was more than a waiter, he was a specialist in being able to listen to our preferences and with that ability, gauge a meal that was excellent to each individuals preference! His knowledge as to the meats, seafood, and other items on the menu was amazing. He explained the deserts in a way that was equally pleasant to our palate! We will return to Grille225 as long as Jimmy is a waiter!!
Booked a reservation for New Years Eve 3 months ago on 9/16 and they called 2 weeks before that to tell me they can't accommodate the time I booked (6:30) and they could do 5:30 or 8pm. We have pre-purchased tickets on the ferry so none of those times work. We are now left without a dinner reservation on NYE two weeks before. Terrible customer service. Triple check your reservations!
Great experience all around. The server was excellent and the food was amazing - we had the fun cocktails, wedge salads, steaks and sides. All were really great. Highly recommend this for a special occasion or splurge.
The atmosphere is terrific and Ben has been so kind, helpful, and has consistently helped special occasions become memorable!!
It was our first time at this Charleston restaurant. It was an anniversary dinner. Had a reservation and table was not ready. Went to bar and weren't even acknowledged by bartenders. Sat at table in bar and finally got waited on. After about 45 min we checked for our table and finally got seated after the second attempt. I would say it wasn't overly crowded. Waiters were extremely nice and efficient, but the kitchen was perhaps very busy. The food was just ok, nothing to rave about. We've had better quality steaks. Somewhat disappointed.
Wow, a Beautiful restaurant. The food and service was top notch. Our server Jimmy was awesome he was very nice and went over and above to make our dinner the best! Highly recommend it!

It was a wonderful experience. Took my husband for his birthday and couldn’t have asked for anything more. The food was delicious, time was given in between you did not feel rushed. I am a vegetarian and I had sides, they were large enough to share, the truffle fry basket, huge and again everything was so good. James our Server was so friendly and gave recommendations, he was AMAZING!

Dining at Grill 225 was a wonderful, elegant experience. To start, the space is beautifully decorated. The table settings are warm, cozy and inviting. The staff is beyond compare. Everyone is friendly, professional and helpful. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious entrees. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation today. You won't be disappointed.
They were not that busy when we dined, but the service was excellent. This may be the most beautiful restaurant in Charleston! My wife had a filet mignon and she said it was excellent. I had a grilled veal chop. It was tasty, but a little tough. The vegetables were family portions in size, but well cooked and enjoyable. I will go back and if you are looking for a romantic restaurant, this is the one!
Always love this restaurant. Rick, our server, was terrific! Entrees were outstanding. The Caesar salad was disappointing. Very little flavor, and it's on the plate as if it came out of a mold. Should serve a freshly made salad table side for the price.
We only had a cocktail - one of the Nitrotinis - chocolate. Although a little gimmicky- it was fun and entertaining. Unfortunately the bartender gentleman seemed overworked and probably needed break. I ordered a Gin and Tonic and the tonic was soda water out of the hand held dispenser. I will go with - “he didn’t realize but said he could not change it over (for some reason)”. The place is a beautiful old building (guessing a bank) and a fun place to dine (although we did not eat).
Sadly for a place of this type and expected quality level, the experience was a little disappointing, but perhaps it was an off night.
