We had two breakfast casseroles from Hamby’s on Christmas morning. They were delicious and we would order again!

They served at our work Christmas party and the food was AMAZING. The Mac n cheese and collard greens where seasoned well and I could not get enough. They also served short ribs that were so tender and the sauce served with it was so savory and paired well with everything. The servers cleared plates and no one had a bad attitude. It was an amazing evening because of them!

We could not have chosen better prices or better food. They were kind, gracious and served everything on time. After having a niece's wedding be completely ruined by their caterer, I had some strong concerns. Kara answered every single of our concerns and followed thru. Thank you for your attention to detail and making it look effortless.

Hamby catered our wedding a few weeks ago, and my husband and I truly couldn’t recommend them more. From start to finish, the team was incredible, especially Caroline, who was so responsive and thorough throughout the entire planning process. She promptly answered all our questions and was so accommodating when it came to guest allergies and special requests.

On the day of the wedding, everything was perfect. Our guests raved about the food stations and loved the variety, especially the Lowcountry Boil and the Hot Honey Chicken Biscuits, which gave everyone a little taste of Charleston. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make us feel cared for. Our server even brought us one of each appetizer while we were taking photos after the ceremony, and at the end of the night, they packed up a bag with one of everything so we could enjoy it all later.

We’re so grateful to Hamby for helping make our day so special (and delicious!).

I cannot say enough about the Hamby Team!!! Working with Caroline was seamless. She was very communicative and helped us out tremendously with picking the perfect menu for our daughter's wedding. The food was amazing and the guest couldn't stop talking about how wonderful everything was. The bar staff was awesome and everyone was just so friendly. Definitely reach out to Hamby for ANY catering needs. You won't be disappointed. It was just the perfect night.

Clearly Hamby’s (2.0) Market is not what an old Charlestonian expects from one of its city’s iconic culinary delights. The Cliff note version: Best success is handled by a customer’s advance planning and ordering, and avoid the shrimp salad 2.0 sandwiches.
In fairness to the Hamby’s organization, Mrs. Candice Hudnall was incredibly polite and gracious, and swift to respond to my complaint about the rigid structure of the “market’s” product availability, cold service, and absence of customer accommodation. She was also very adamant about their having “remained true to the original iteration from Mrs. Hamby” qualifying that some elements have changes citing the bread from Piggly Wiggly.
Confidently knowing that my taste buds had not betrayed me, I pulled out Mrs. Hamby’s book, Catering to Charleston, and prepared the recipe for the shrimp tea sandwiches nestled within its pages. I dare not share the recipe (copyright infringement) and encourage you to seek out the recipe within its pages. Some words of caution – the recipes portrayed on the Internet are not the same as in Mrs. Hamby’s book. When directly ask if the book recipe was the recipe to which they “remained true,” Mrs. Hudnall offered no response.
Taste testing results. A few friends and family compared the sandwiches; the ones I prepared to that which I purchased at Hamby’s market in a blind test. We could only assume that Mrs. Hudnall had been misinformed by her staff – or the original recipe was modified from that of Mrs. Patrick’s Shrimp Paste fearing they would have to expend royalties to others.
In short, my suggestions for ordering… most everything (except the shrimp) is awesome. Order “double stuffed,” but order (>24 hours) in advance because this is NOT offered in the Market when making an impromptu purchase. In the “Market” be prepared for the structured corporate responses; uncharacteristic of Southern hospitality and accommodation.

The Hotel that I work for had a luncheon and they had food that was left over and some employees were able to get some and we noticed that the hamburger wasn't fully done some of the meat were red but not to red and an employee was eating the chicken and her last bite she felt something hard and when she took it out her mouth it looked like part of a finger nail and we know usually there aren't any complaints about the food just letting you know should have taken a picture

Hamby outdid themselves for our April 2025 Wedding at the Gibbes Museum. This was not pimento and shrimp salad sandwiches (although we love those from Hamby.) Working with Bellamy was a breeze!!! During our tasting, she took all of our feedback in stride, and the end result was exactly what we were hoping for. Plus the tasting itself was such a fun experience. Dont skip doing this!!

At the wedding, the food was luxurious and delicious. Our passed apps exceeded expectations, as well as the dinner itself. The service was outstanding, and we had everything we could have asked for. Search no further, Hamby will make sure that your special day, or any special event, runs smoothly, and has everyone leaving with a full belly. Thank you a million times!

We recently used Hamby for our catering and bar services at our April 2025 wedding and could not have been more happy! Kara was very responsive and helpful from the initial moment I reached out and was always open to providing feedback about best options to fit our needs and budget. We made many changes to our menu throughout the planning process and she was always understanding and patient. When we did our tasting, they were open to any suggestions or wishes we had and I was impressed with how accommodating and thoughtful they were. On the day, everything was absolutely amazing- our guests raved about the food and the staff was so kind and accommodating. We are so thankful that we went with them and wish we could relive the day! I DJ weddings in charleston full time and I felt like hoping on here to acknowledge one thing specifically: Hamby served me the greatest Mac and cheese I believe I’ve ever had in my life the other night as a vendor meal. We loved working with Hamby, specifically, Bellamy, for our April 2025 wedding. Most of our guests were from the north, so we really wanted to do classic southern style food for our dinner. We decided to do stations with shrimp & grits, BBQ, and chicken biscuits and everything was so amazing. We also loved all of the hor d'oeuvres Hamby had to offer. It was difficult to choose. Since the wedding, we have received so many compliments about how delicious the food was! Would definitely recommend Hamby Catering for any event!

I feel like I need to give a shout out to the service provided to me today by Hamby’s market. I had picked up an order yesterday for a group of ladies coming to my home this morning. when I opened my bag this morning, I found that I had received two orders of shrimp sandwiches instead of one shrimp and one chicken. I called to let them know just hoping that they would be more careful in their attention to bagging and what did they do? They made the effort to bring me a package of chicken sandwiches just in time for my circle meeting! So impressive. As I had expected – – such a fine company. Thank you for rescuing the menu for my church circle luncheon . Sugar Slabaugh.💙

I’ve used Hamby for multiple events from my engagement party to work events. The latest event was this week & I realized I hadn’t left a review for Hamby. We had such a great experience with Amy, Carol, Clarissa and especially Marie. Everything we asked extra help with, they were there to help- everything was set up beautifully & our guests kept raving about the passing apps and the staff. Thank you Hamby for always going above and beyond. Only catering I’ll use in CHS!
