I am a big supporter in local businesses, especially local farms. I understand buying local can be more expensive but holllyyyyyyyy. The poutine was phenomenal. At $17, a little pricey but not bad. Drinks were about $15 each, good but small. Got the steak because that's what they are known for right...so very disappointed. It cost $51 for a 12oz NY strip steak. It wasn't great, it wasn't good, it was okay. Then factor in the price, not worth it. The side of garlic mashed potatoes were good but also expensive. The waitress was kind but more focused on cleaning up for closing than taking care of tables. Also the meats are sourced from Virginia, not local to South Carolina.
I wish this place the best, but I do not plan to return or recommend.

We had a wonderful experience at Herd Provisions. If you like aged steak, you wonât find a better one anywhere else! The tallow fries and roasted mushrooms were phenomenalâŠso was the cheesecake. We took a whipped ricotta to go for breakfast. Special shout out to our waitress Ava for her incredible hospitality, and thanks to Kennedy for the superior customer service! The playlist was also lovely! Definitely plan to return on our next trip to Charleston. âĄÌ

Recent bad experience at a restaurant we typically love. Historically great service, EXCELLENT Herd Burger, and nice atmosphere. This time not so much:
We sat on the patio and had pretty bad service. Probably about a 30-35 minute gap in seeing our waiter from when we ordered our drinks and were finally able to order food.
When we finally were able to flag them and ask if we could order, both of us went to order a burger only to find out that they were out and âonly make 12 a nightâ. This place has the best burger in town, and we regularly come only for the Herd Burger (even if itâs not on the menu they hand out, weâve previously been told that itâs always available).
We ended up splitting a steak that was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked to medium rare. Canât deny that the steaks here are excellent! Sides are extra though so we spent about $75/person to split an steak after coming in specifically wanting the burger.
Probably wonât be back for a while or until we hear some better news on the burgers. From a previous review it looks like this is an issue as of late.

We had dinner there last evening to celebrate my daughterâs birthday and it was so disappointing. Iâm sure we will never be back. I will say that the service was friendly, but incredibly slow it took us three hours to get through dinner. They boast about their burger so we ordered burgers plus other items, but three people at our table were ordering burgers after waiting 45 minutes the way to return to tell us there were no more burgers And for the record, it wasnât made clear we sort of went there for the burgers, but they said we could only get burgers if we sat upstairs and then they told us that they were out of burgers however, even after that we saw six burgers go upstairs and Iâm like canât you borrow burgers from your burger bar upstairs. Needless to say, we shouldâve had dinner before they even told us they couldnât service dinner so we had to make different plans. There werenât a lot of optional choices within that same type of food. I got the duck it was not very good. Again, very little attention you would think that the manager wouldâve come over to us. The other two people with Berger orders had to get a chicken kale salad, which wasnât the best either however that took another 3540 minutes to get out to us so our 715 reservations got us out the door at 10 PM again, I donât understand the whole Berger thing if youâre a burger bar and you could serve burgers upstairs where we could see it how do you run out of the one signature Berger on your downstairs menu and just to be clear it wasnât clear on their website that you couldnât get the burger bar anywhere in the restaurant so that also was disappointing drinks were also just ok and the wine choices limited For $600 I have to say there is too much competition in Charleston for this place to survive

One of our favorite restaurants in the Lowcountry. The bbq burger is our favorite in all of Chs. But every meal we've ever had here is exceptional. The whipped ricotta app is superlative. Incredible food in a beautifully casual setting.

My wife and I go here each summer, and for the past few years weâve been left very pleased. Both the menu mainstays and specials are constant bangers, but nothing beats a filet or strip.
Love these guys, but a recent bummer. Herd has great food, and perhaps the best burger in town. The staff is outstanding, simply the best. Food? Both the pork chop and the steak are outstanding. We were heading there once a week. Strong cocktail game, and although the wine list isnât extensive it is super well curated. You know that burger I mentioned? If you want their signature Herd Burger, you have to sit at the kids table in the front segregated from the rest of the diners. You can get a $34 monster at the grown-ups table. So weâve started skipping and choosing another option. Itâs a bit of a heartbreak, because like I said we really love the joint and especially all of our friends on the staff. -George

Really awesome restaurant. Steaks are great. The steaks come from a specific breed of cow that is an ancient breed. The steaks had a great crust on them and were cooked perfectly. The staff were fun and engaging. I ate here twice and was not disappointed with what I ordered.
