I can’t say enough…food, service, drinks, atmosphere; it was all top notch without being “too much”. This was a nice relaxing, welcoming environment compared to some of the “upscale” dining we did previously on our trip. True farm to table with all food options. Service was the best I have had in a very long time and was better than most of the cities I have visited.

My husband and I came here to enjoy a delicious meal. We did just that! The staff was extremely attentive, the vibe of the restaurant was spot on and they even allow dogs on the patio which is a huge plus for us. We ordered the poutine fries which had a little too much salt, but other than that, they were delicious. He ordered the Rigatoni Ragu which literally melted in your mouth!!! A MUST. I ordered the pork chops with a side of Mac n cheese. The Mac was well prepared with the crispest bread crumbs, cheesy noodles..just great! My pork chop was missing a sauce..there's no sauce that comes with the meat, so I'd recommend asking if you can have a sauce on the side.

First off, the ragu and the Mac and cheese was very very good, I really enjoyed my meal, my wifi got the pork chops and they were a bit dry and don't serve a sauce. We also got the poutine, which was loaded and tasty, but very salty. They make great drinks and the atmosphere is really neat. I would recommend this place but don't expect everything to be good, pick the right food.

Sadly I didn’t take any photos because I was having too much fun. The food here is fantastic. Let’s start there. But so are many places in Charleston. Portions here do leave a little to be desired, and we got a reservation for “downstairs dining” but were seated upstairs in a small corner with very little to look at in terms of atmosphere (the main dining area looked nice, so try for that). We started with the poutine and brussels. Both excellent. My husband and his friend both got the strip steak. We ordered the “for the table” potatoes, shells and cheese, and beets… and since that seemed like a lot of food, my friend and I split the speckled trout. Again, each dish was fantastic to be clear. But for the price, we had pictured a Halls sized shells and cheese, and it was more of a personal crock size. For over $420 (not including tip), I prefer to leave dinner full… for this reason it won’t be on a short list of places to go back to for dinner, but I’d love to try their lunch.

The gnocchi is deep fried and extremely heavy. The poutine is overly salty. Only good dish we had were the brussels. Drinks are way overpriced. $200 for dinner here and we're leaving with a stomach ache.

Just like you can't judge a book by it's cover; you can't judge a restaurant by it's storefront. We passed by several times when going to Dog Park nearby but assumed it was just a deli/sandwich shop based on the walkup window and meat slicer in front. We noticed (on side of building) a walkway that lead to a porch and found out, dogs are allowed out back. So glad we did. Food was really good with some different options than you find at other CHS restaurants. Portions are well sized (Poutine was amazing). Our servers were great and attentive and catered to our dog. When the weather is good the back porch is a great spot. Inside, is definitely NOT a deli/sandwich atmosphere and has a cool vibe. We ended up getting take out from there a few days later and it was great again.

Toughest ribeye I’ve ever tried to eat. Service was OK, but overall I would not recommend.

Service was great, cocktails were fine, oysters 10/10, fries were awesome but burger way too salty. Chicken sandwich was pretty dry but could easily fix with sauce.

Fantastic meal and even better service! The Poutine with short rib and curds was a great upscale twist on a timeless classic! Ethan and Isabella were top notch!

Finally made it to Herd for dinner on a Tuesday evening after looking for a good dining spot for 7 people. There was barely anyone else there but they had live music and the food was incredible! Having moved here from a small state that had lots of amazing restaurants and locally-sourced ingredients, I’ve been surprisingly disappointed in the dining options in the CHS area. There are SO many restaurants here but only a few have made it on my list of really great food worth going back to. Our family can’t wait to eat a Herd again!
