Love Rancho Lewis! Been coming here for a long time and it keeps getting better. Staff is extremely kind/welcoming and they are accommodating of both big and small groups. Worth the trip from Summerville whenever we are downtown!

They have a really solid happy hour selection. We ordered a mix of dishes from the happy hour menu and regular menu. Cocktails and food were ok, nothing exceptional flavor wise.

Savannah P was an excellent server! Her section was very busy, but she was professional and accommodating on our date night. We love Rancho Lewis for its consistently excellent food and service! To be honest—the margs are hit or miss. But there is DEFINITELY tequila in them, so not so bad! Love bringing guests or having nights out here! Worth a visit!

We had a big family dinner at Rancho Lewis and it couldn’t have been better! The staff handled our large group with ease, keeping drinks full and the chips and salsa flowing. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and full of that authentic Tex-Mex charm—plus the artwork and decor made for the perfect backdrop for photos.

Every plate at our table looked amazing, from tacos and fajitas to burgers and ribs. The flavors were spot-on and portions generous. You can tell everything’s made fresh and served with pride.

If you’re in Charleston and want great food, friendly service, and a place that can handle a crowd while still feeling welcoming, Rancho Lewis is the spot. Highly recommend for families, groups, or anyone who loves great Tex-Mex! 🌮🌵

This was my third visit to Rancho Lewis, and I really wanted to love it since I’m a huge fan of Lewis Barbecue! We were actually on our way there but couldn’t wait in the hour-plus line with our little ones, so we decided to stop here instead.

Rancho Lewis has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and beautiful décor, even though the area around it is currently under construction. The restaurant was packed, but the wait time wasn’t long, which was great.

My wedge salad with steak protein was just okay — nothing special this time. The biggest disappointment was the very limited kids’ menu. The only options were a bean and cheese burrito, a cheese quesadilla, or chicken tenders. With two kids who are gluten-free, what they really wanted was a simple beef and cheese taco, which unfortunately wasn’t available unless we ordered a $22 steak taco off the main menu.

Overall, it’s a nice spot with potential, and I’ll give it another try down the road.

Best “El Paso style” Mexican food outside of El Paso, TX. Great fresh chips and salsa. The green chile enchiladas were delicious. Nice West Texas decor too!

Umm….why on earth would a Tex-Mex restaurant ditch beef enchiladas, beef tacos and chicken tacos from their menu? Makes zero sense.

This was our favorite restaurant…. If they bring back the items we came for we’ll be back; but adios until then Rancho.

My husband and I arrived at Rancho Lewis on Sunday evening (9/21/2025) around 8:07pm. After picking him up from the airport, we decided to go out for dinner rather than cook, and since Rancho Lewis is close to home, it seemed like an easy choice. Unfortunately, the experience was so poor that it will also be the last time we dine here.

The hostess was warm and welcoming, and we were seated promptly. Our server, Leah (if I recall correctly), was polite but lacked basic awareness that should be standard in any restaurant. For example, when I asked for a straw, she brought it to me holding it with her bare hands. On top of that, she carried our water glasses by the rim, which is unsanitary and something any properly trained server knows to avoid. Any server trained in even basic food service knows straws should be handled with a napkin or sanitary method and glasses should never be touched at the rim — small but telling details that highlight a lack of training and oversight.

My husband ordered the Christmas burrito and I ordered the chicken fajitas with flour tortillas. Having worked in the restaurant and hospitality industry myself, I can’t help but notice details. It’s not my first time at Rancho Lewis, but this time it was impossible to overlook the issues.

When our meals arrived, the problems were immediate. My husband’s burrito was lukewarm at best. My fajitas — which should always arrive piping hot and sizzling — had no sizzle, no steam, nothing. I even touched the chicken and vegetables with my finger, and they were barely warm. To make matters worse, the tortillas didn’t even arrive with the dish; I had to wait an additional two minutes after the fajitas were already on the table. The presentation and temperature made it obvious that the food had either been sitting out or reheated.

To make it even clearer, another table near us ordered fajitas a little later and theirs came out exactly how they should — piping hot, sizzling, and fresh. I even pointed this out to the manager when she came over, and she still refused to acknowledge it.

When I raised my concerns, the manager’s response was downright unacceptable. Instead of listening, she immediately cut me off mid-sentence. As I explained that the food seemed reheated or had been sitting out, she interrupted to “correct” me, insisting that they don’t leave food out. It’s insulting to ask for a guest’s feedback and then dismiss it, talk over them, and essentially argue with them about their own experience. She never introduced herself, never apologized, and showed zero accountability. Her shitty condescending tone was the final straw.

As someone who values professionalism in hospitality, I can confidently say this was one of the rudest interactions I’ve had with a restaurant manager. There is a way to handle feedback — even if you disagree — and this was the exact opposite.

Between the lackluster, lukewarm food and the unprofessional management, Rancho Lewis is not a place I would recommend or ever return to. The restaurant brands itself as offering “Mexican food,” but the reality is watered-down, white Americanized Mexican dishes served with poor execution and even worse service. It was a waste of both our time and money, and sadly, this visit confirmed we will not be back.

Good luck to Rancho Lewis, but thanks — and no thanks.

I use to really enjoy coming here for the good food and friendly service. Seems to me like they lost all the staff capable of doing their jobs. Too bad.
