We order from here quite regularly, and have been doing so for about 3 years. We live right down the road and eat here probably about every other week. We usually order take out, but have eaten in a couple of times. Generally, the food is good and there are no issues. Occasionally, the food is sub-par and sometimes just not cooked correctly. Other times we are missing parts of our meal. Sometimes I just can't believe that they send this food out.... It's like they don't care sometimes, and I personally watched the owner/manager box this up for me.
I've been going here for the last 15 years and figure a review is long overdue. La Carreta for the longest time had amazing energy inside and outside, but that's a changed a bit which I believe was because they lost their alcohol license for a period of time (back now). The high quality of the food has remained consistent since I first started going here. They have amazing cheese dip, quesadillas, and burritos. I'm able to be in and out for a sit down in 15-20 minutes if I want a quick stop. Probably due time for a cosmetic upgrade outside and inside because this place deserves to be a regular spot everyone. If you've read this far an considering going, the food will not disappoint!
Hood food
The food was ok. The menu were dirty.
Food is fire and consistent, exactly what you want in a neighborhood Mexican food spot. Didn't have alcohol for a while, happy to announce the drinks are back 🤙🏼
Very nicely decorated. Pleasant atmosphere. Very good food and reasonable prices. Nice Mexican music, not loud. Highly recommended. Would go back anytime.
Food is excellent and very fairly priced. The $26 fajitas for 2 is enough food to feed a family of 4. Beats a lot of the more popular Charleston area Mexican joints on price and flavor.
This is the greatest restaurant in Charleston, I highly suggest playing the claw machine
2nd time eating here and the food is great! The waitress was very attentive and nice! About 8 months ago when there was told they were renovating and apologized for no alcoholic beverages! They didn't have there liquor license yet! Well this time still no liquor license and still renovating!
The service was fast. The waiter was very friendly and fast. The food was amazing!

To each their own on food; have definitely had way better elsewhere.
No alcohol, the ladies bathroom smelled like urinal cakes, and it was completely empty on a Saturday night, and now I know why.

We have eaten here for years. Tonite we had a great meal, great service. The bad reviews are old stories. The place is rather worn and they do not have a liquor license but the food and service is great.
