I was in town for business and need a wine pairing dinner. I contacted Laurel Catering and it was fantastic. All courses perfectly paired with the wines we were pouring. Laurel walked us through the entire process of the menu. Highly recommended

We recently hired Laurel to cater our corporate holiday lunch and it was outstanding. The Cristal Bread sandwiches were a hit amongst all my co-workers. This isn’t your normal crappy team lunch. The chef uses high quality ingredients which was a real standout. My team is still talking about this lunch, I can’t wait to use them again.

Our visit to Laurel in downtown Charleston was a memorable experience. The restaurant’s cozy yet elegant ambiance set the tone for a fantastic evening. The highlight was the unique octopus dish - a culinary masterpiece, both flavorful and perfectly cooked. Equally impressive was the wine selection. High-quality wines at bargain prices were a pleasant surprise. The staff’s warmth and attentiveness added to the overall charm. Laurel is a must-visit for exceptional food and wine at great value. We left eagerly planning our next visit

We went to this wonderful restaurant with our daughter & her husband to celebrate my husbands 83 birthday. The food was outstanding. We had several appetizers. The butter beans were out standing. We had some of the best cheesecakes around. We had the steak, fish and chicken, all perfectly cooked. I highly recommend this place. True Spanish food (not Mexican).

Chef Trey Wilson cranks out amazing food in a beautiful relaxed atmosphere. Best octopus I have ever had , fire roasted in a coal burning oven. Everything is delicious and to top it all off you don’t break the bank when you eat here. Reasonably priced wine list with some great Spanish selections. I highly recommend!

I got hired here as the executive chef. I was very excited for this new journey. He had me fire a woman who worked their prior because he didn’t like her and didn’t want to pay unemployment if she worked last 3 months.Upon being hired I informed the owner of something I had to take care of back in NY mid October. The owner Tre not only forgot he decided to close the restaurant for a week. He then posted a statement that we would be reopening 10/16. Tre sent a text message 10/15 stating that we were unfortunately not going to be re opening because he cannot afford it. Tre also decided to not pay any of his employees for their last week of work. Tre also decided to block each employee and hold employees personal property hostage. Tre is also very very bad at managing his finances and has not the slightest clue on how to run an establishment. Me and one other individual were key holders and were responsible for running the entire operation and opening and closing the store. This man has to be the worst boss I have ever worked for due to lack of communication and also because he violated his loyal employees by not paying us for our last week of work. I am more than upset and will be taking legal action. I am writing this review not only to spread the message of why this restaurant is actually closed and also because this seems to be the only form of contact that I know I will get a response out of sadly.

We had a reservation but arrived to a dark restaurant with locked doors. Their website and social media mentioned that they had been closed for their chef to be out of town, but we're reopening the week before our reservation. Clearly a disorganized group.

Had a 7pm reservation. Showed up and restaurant was closed. So we had to scramble to find a table at another restaurant last minute. I should have gotten a call to let me know the restaurant was closed rather than be surprised.

Laurel canceled our reservation ONE HOUR before our reserved time! Something about the chef having to leave town. Do they only have one chef? We had this reservation for several weeks. Try getting a reservation in Charleston with one hours notice!

Classic neighborhood corner eatery. Hip and sophisticated. Warm service and clearly a local hangout. All hightop and very comfortable. The window was perfect for us to watch the folks inside and outside the restaurant. The croquette was a must-have. Delicious.

This place was amazing! The vibe was awesome, the cocktails were great (we had the Paloma and the sangria) and the food was amazing. Matt was really nice and helpful, and made great suggestions. The biggest surprise were the butter beans, the expectations were low but man oh man were the results surprisingly high. The pork shank was to die for. Very bougie, great service, great food, would absolutely come back.

BEWARE: this restaurant does NOT honor reservations, nor do they make any attempt to acknowledge or try to rectify the inconvenience that is caused. We arrived for a 7:15pm reservation and were informed that “nobody is getting up” so the wait would be at least 35 min. The hostess stood there confused that we were upset as if this were a regular occurrence. Because we had our daughter with us, we weren’t allowed to wait at the bar, and we were offered no alternative so we had no choice but to leave. Another party with a reservation went in right after we did and they were also turned away. If you are looking for a great restaurant in the neighborhood that does honor reservations, try Sorghum & Salt - we ended up there and it was delicious!

This place is severely understaffed. I got a text the day before my reservation saying they were canceling my reservation bc the cooks kid was sick. I told them my reservation was for the next day and they were like "oh OK, tomorrow should be fine".For our dining experience there was only 1 waiter for the entire restaurant. He was also the bartender and food runny. I think there was also only 1 cook. There were probably 10 tables full of people. We felt like a nuisance ordering additional food and drinks. We didn't get some of the food we ordered and our table never got drinks we ordered so we only got the first round. Our bill was wrong and the restaurant tried to charge us for the items we never got. It was fixed, but stuff like that shouldn't happen. This could all be solved with just having a couple more staff!A restaurant shouldn't have to completely shut down because the cooks kid is sick and 1 waited shouldn't be bartending, waiting, running food for 10 tables! For the price this place isn't worth the long wait and dissapointment when you don't get food or refills.
