Great vibes, Fantastic staff, and wow- spectacular food.
The tapas were great, but the outdoor seating leaves a lot to be desired.
I tried only the Pulpo and the Bomba. By far the Bomba was the best. I expected the Pulpo be more grilled but it was great, not chewy but soft and tender.
The latino (forgot his name) server was very kind and knowledgeable of the dishes.
I’m still in shock. For the most part, all was good - especially the crab rice! What crushed all the positives was the Paella of the day at MP - Ours was chicken that was fairly dry. The bill came and I was stunned to see $90 👀 for the paella. Our party walked out and I had to go back in to inquire if there was a mistake. No, no mistake, it was actually $90!
That price is completely unwarranted and you should be ashamed!
UPDATE: I emailed the restaurant and have not heard back in days. This is a great example of how NOT to run a business.
This spot is a true gem of an establishment loved the wine selection, tapas and the grocery side of it. If you have the opportunity to get a loaf of their fresh bread I strongly encourage you to do so. It may possibly be the best bread I've come across since moving here from New York.
Food was good quality and excellent flavor, pricey for portion size; one goes for tapas for the experience. We dined on the patio which was cramped. While our server was a bit hard to understand, the service team was awesome. Getting our order sorted took a bit of time. Not a big deal, just one of those things. Overall, our party enjoyed our time and the food was a great facilitator for our evening, which was our desired experience.
Food and service were amazing!! Best food we ate in Charleston, and we ate at all the top places downtown. We had the La bomba, zorza, conejo, patatas, and carrots. So much flavor and cooked perfectly!!!
I’m not usually so critical of restaurants, but this one was not as expected. The atmosphere was seriously lacking and the menu was not great. The portions were small and prices were very high for what was offered. We won’t be back.
If you like a nice mildly spiced paste- go with the crab rice. It’s delicious!
Everything was good from the food to service. Nothing was phenomenal, portion size to price ratio just didn’t make sense.

Amazing authentic Spanish food!
Small intimate place, great wine selection and I am not a wine person but our server Lilly made a great recommendation. Pulpo was the main reason I wanted to go here. Everything was delicious (these guys must've put Barsa out of business)
This is an experience! Intimate setting, unique and delicious food options. We ordered and shared something from almost every portion of the menu. Our server was great, the atmosphere is very nice and inviting. Husband said it reminded him of dining experiences in Spain.
We've been meaning to try Malagon for some time. We are so glad we finally did!
Every dish we had was either really good or excellent. Wines by the glass were good, though expensive, and offered too few options. Service was friendly and attentive, and the decor was definitely right out of Spain.
We shared 5 tapas, 1 entree, and 2 desserts among 3 people, and all of us left full.
The sourdough bread with Spanish olive oil was incredibly good. The buns served with chorizo spread, creamy goat cheese, and honey were very good and different, though we would have preferred a ground, spicier chorizo to the chorizo being pate-like. The special clams in garlic with artichoke hearts were wonderful. Roasted carrots in an almond and pepper sauce were interesting and good. The Bomba de la Barceloneta with a spicy sauce was excellent. Pork skirt steak with membrillo and pine nuts was delicious (but way overpriced at $53 for 5 oz of meat and nothing else on the plate).
For dessert we chose an olive oil ice cream infused with bay leaf and some churros. The ice cream was like nothing we ever tasted before. It was so strong we were glad we split it, but it was so interesting and tasty. Churros were very light and good!
We plan to go back. We were already talking about what we would order next!
Great food and even better service.
