We found Malagon on Yelp…..not disappointed. Small and cozy restaurant, many options both small and large plates, don’t over look the daily specials, we didn’t we had the Tomato Tartar and Arugula Salad. Felt right at home no rush to eat quickly. When ordering look around what others were eating and get an instant review. Highly recommend you make reservations.

Don’t even question it! Go! We stumbled across this place one day while walking around downtown waiting for our kids to get out of a summer college program. I am so so thankful that we found it! Since then we’ve already been back Four times. Fabulous restaurant, especially if you are an adventurous eater and willing to try new things. There isn’t one dish that we’ve had that we didn’t like. We brought our friends And ordered 17 dishes and there was not one dish that had a scrap of food left. There was only five of us lol

Very good traditional tapas selection in a quaint setting! We loved the fish skewer, fried rabbit, lamb, and white asparagus. The service is very friendly and efficient.

As self-proclaimed food enthusiasts who live just 30 minutes outside of New York City, our standards for dining are high—and Malagon did not disappoint. Every dish we tried was seasoned perfectly. The service was warm, attentive, and efficient, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. The wine selection was perfect for us- we enjoyed the cava. We left impressed and already planning our next visit. A true gem for anyone who appreciates quality food and good hospitality!!

We had a big group dinner here that they set up for us in the side patio. Everything was great, the food and service were both awesome!

We’ve enjoyed dinner at Malagón several times, but this was our first time trying lunch—and what a pleasant surprise! The restaurant was quiet, which made for a relaxed experience, and we hadn’t even realized they were open for lunch.

We grabbed a sunny corner table near the wine cabinets, which gave us a cozy spot with lots of natural light.

From the appetizer and small plates menu, we shared tuna carpaccio, zorza, octopus, and maja with Marcona almonds—every dish was absolutely delicious.

Our server, Christian, was attentive and accommodating, even making sure I could get an iced cappuccino just the way I like it.

If you haven't try this restaurant then start making a plan and book for lunch or dinner reservation.

The tapas were great, but the outdoor seating leaves a lot to be desired.

I tried only the Pulpo and the Bomba. By far the Bomba was the best. I expected the Pulpo be more grilled but it was great, not chewy but soft and tender.

The latino (forgot his name) server was very kind and knowledgeable of the dishes.

I’m still in shock. For the most part, all was good - especially the crab rice! What crushed all the positives was the Paella of the day at MP - Ours was chicken that was fairly dry. The bill came and I was stunned to see $90 👀 for the paella. Our party walked out and I had to go back in to inquire if there was a mistake. No, no mistake, it was actually $90!

That price is completely unwarranted and you should be ashamed!

UPDATE: I emailed the restaurant and have not heard back in days. This is a great example of how NOT to run a business.

This spot is a true gem of an establishment loved the wine selection, tapas and the grocery side of it. If you have the opportunity to get a loaf of their fresh bread I strongly encourage you to do so. It may possibly be the best bread I've come across since moving here from New York.

Food was good quality and excellent flavor, pricey for portion size; one goes for tapas for the experience. We dined on the patio which was cramped. While our server was a bit hard to understand, the service team was awesome. Getting our order sorted took a bit of time. Not a big deal, just one of those things. Overall, our party enjoyed our time and the food was a great facilitator for our evening, which was our desired experience.

Food and service were amazing!! Best food we ate in Charleston, and we ate at all the top places downtown. We had the La bomba, zorza, conejo, patatas, and carrots. So much flavor and cooked perfectly!!!

I’m not usually so critical of restaurants, but this one was not as expected. The atmosphere was seriously lacking and the menu was not great. The portions were small and prices were very high for what was offered. We won’t be back.
