One of our favorite restaurants in Charleston now! Madison, the hostess, makes you feel at home! So welcoming and sweet. Truly a treasure.
Bennet was a wonderful server. Great suggestions and so personable.
The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere lovely.
We came once for a girls trip a few weeks ago and knew we had to come back with our husbands when we were passing through town this week. It’s a can’t miss spot. Cannot recommend enough!

I know it's still a young restaurant but Michelin needs to add this spot and fast!

I have actually not dined at this restaurant yet although it is on the wish list. But I did want to leave a positive review from my experience. This is a very popular restaurant and I have struggled getting a reservation with Resy. I emailed them to check availability and I immediately got an email back from one of the cofounders. They offered my wife and I a seat at the chef‘s table at a time that was unfortunately later than what I was able to do. Nevertheless, the response was well above what I expected and suggestive of excellent customer service. It’s no surprise that it’s difficult to secure a table with this crew.

Was lucky enough to get a reservation and so grateful! This was such a special dinner. Definitely lived up to all of the hype. Very intimate, warm space. Terrific 5 star service from all. Had the beef wellington (of course!), heirloom tomato salad, focaccia, stuffed farfalle, apple & pear trifle- so hard to pick a favorite as each was outstanding. The beef wellington is definitely a star. I have no idea where they get such delicious tomatoes at the end of October. Will definitely return.

The Hungry Detective and Special Agent Deirdre had the most fantastic experience last night at Merci… If I could give six stars, I would right from the get go… all right let’s talk about the atmosphere first.
ATMOSPHERE: The location is in a true Charlestonian neighborhood just off the College of Charleston campus… there’s a small intimate dining area and then the chef‘s table where I like to sit, where there’s six spots. It’s just perfect and you can see all the action and how all dishes are cared for and prepped by Chef Alex and his wonderful staff!!!
SMALL PLATES/STARTERS: I don’t know where to start because everything looked absolutely fabulous. I would’ve ordered one of everything if I could’ve as I sat there and watched all these great plates come out. I will definitely get the focaccia bread with Benton’s cured ham and honey on my next visit and the tuna Crudo…we had the beef tartare with these delicate little mushrooms that were spread over this incredible handcrafted charcoal brioche bread and tallow aioli.
CUISINE: The Beef Wellington for two was our main course. It takes 50 minutes to prepare and it’s worth the wait, so if that’s on your mind, I would let them know as soon as you arrive. They really appreciate the heads up and let me tell you this is the best beef Wellington I’ve had and I will say that I have become a beef Wellington aficionado and this piece of beef was over the top and cooked to perfection and accompanied with an incredible sauce poivrade and surrounded by this fabulously decorated French pastry dough. The beef was accompanied by handcrafted vegetables that were absolutely incredible along with whipped duchess potatoes, served up steaming and piping hot in a French crock
WINE: Our server, Lucy and Chef Alex paired this beautiful French Bordeaux that was presented at the perfect temperature and accompanied to beef Wellington perfectly!!!
DESSERT: Chocolate mousse with these little black cocoa crumbles at the bottom it was better than sneezing and a great way to finish off the evening.
VERDICT: Guilty as sin for doing everything right with meticulous care and attention to every dish that leaves the kitchen. You will not find anything better in Charleston, that is so romantic and intimate with great food and wine and personality. I can’t wait to return.!!!
PSA: if you’re gonna order the beef, Wellington do it soon as you sit down the chef and staff, will appreciate your insight because there’s a lot going on at Merci!!!
“Good food brings good people together” and that’s what Merci is all about and such a blessing for the Charleston dining scene.

We absolutely loved our experience at Merci! From the moment we walked in, Madison the host made us feel so welcome—warm, inviting, and genuinely excited to have us there. The open kitchen setup is a treat, you get to watch the team in action, and it makes you want to order even more just from seeing the dishes come together in front of you.
The staff was wonderful, the energy was cozy but lively, and every plate felt crafted with care. The leeks, in particular, blew us away, who knew you could actually crave a leek dish?! Easily our favorite.
So grateful to have a little French gem like this in Charleston. Merci will definitely be a place we return to again and again!

Ordered the heirloom tomato salad and got 4 or 5 little plum tomato’s cut in half. Less than. 1 dollars worth of food I was charged 24 dollars for. It was anything but heirloom tomatoes.
You cannot hear yourself talk in this place promoting everyone to yell at each other to have a conversation.
Another overrated so called Charleston dinning experience. I’ll leave this one to the tourist.

We’ll never forget this meal. It was amazing. Do whatever you need to do to get a table here
Merci delivers a cozy, low-key dinner experience in Harleston Village. Cozy interior and attentive staff set the stage—focaccia with stracciatella and duck ballotine were a standout. Thoughtful, seasonal menu that feels just right.

One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. The food is absolutely incredible, the ambiance is so elevated and cozy and they use French antique plates and silverware. So chic and fully.
