Muddy Waters is a great place to spend some time at in the James Island Area.
I got an Iced chai latte & my partner got a hot lavender honey latte and a gluten-free protein peanut butter bar. The drinks are on par with other local shops and are better than drinks found at most commercial chain places. My chai was smooth with a slight warmth & his latte was rich and creamy.
The woman at the counter was extremely kind & efficient-- she also took the time to check in on us when the cafe lost internet to see if we had also lost signal.
The cafe is filled with local artists of all kinds, painters, jewelers, prints, etc. It's covered in art and creates a great artsy environment to really soak in. Many of the pieces are for sale-- it's great to see local businesses supporting local artists.

Dietary restrictions: Plenty of GF and vegetarian options for breakfasts. They also offer a variety of milks for any vegans, or lactose sensitive, people.

Parking: Tons of parking-- huge lot at front which makes it significantly better than some of the similar shops closer to downtown.

Of all the coffee places we've tried, Muddy Waters is top notch. Great atmosphere and fast service would recommend the Americano, vanilla cinnamon latte, and chai.
There is plenty of parking as well. 10 out of 10.

One of the best coffee experiences I've ever had. Macrons were made perfectly and that is rare to find. Cold brew wasn't acidic and was very smooth

My lavender honey latte tasted like latte flavored water and my blackberry scone had a brown clearly expired blackberry in it and tasted stale/old. I should have been turned off by the fly in the pastry case but it’s been a hungry morning ??‍♀️.

Cute shop, good place to study or read, and small menu but with fun coffees and teas to try. I thought the iced matcha was better than hot, at least with almond milk. It was only sweetened with honey which is a big plus in my book

Quick service, I got the cold brew on draft. A nice stop to get a drink and snack and maybe sit for a few minutes. They have some locally made gifts and snacks which were nice.

I've been to almost every coffee shop withing reasonable driving distance of me and this is my favorite by far. Coffee tastes amazing (I definitely recommend the muddy mocha), atmosphere is unique and inviting, and the staff are super friendly. Please visit if you can!

Cozy coffee shop with a fun atmosphere. Coffee was solid for being in the south but not comparable to Seattle or other cities that have bigger coffee scenes. Staff was friendly and the shop had a fun atmosphere.
