Hands-down, my favorite beer in South Carolina. The Lager and Pilsner are my favorites. Also the back patio is a must.
Loved it 🥰
A strong contender for my favorite brewery in Charleston. Haust Bier and 3rd Floor Tripel are some favs.
Locals who believe Munkle to have the best beers in the Charleston area. European types very true to style. It’s a pleasant and friendly brewery. Cute outdoor seating and often yummy food trucks.
Visiting from Florida and randomly found this cool brewery. Beer tender Caleb was knowledgeable of the beer and very helpful in making our choice. We ended up with Munkles Saison and Silver Shoes Stout nitro. Checked out ... and then .... tasted Haust Bier and 3rd Floor Triple. ALL very good beers. Ended up getting some to-go beers...
Haust Bier, 3rd Floor, Silver Shoes, and Upstrike Imperial Stout. And then added Brugge City Brune to the take home list. Great stop, great beer, great service. Worth the trip.
Cheers!
Very rude
Just amazing beer! Enough said!
Can't speak for the beers but I took an Uber there for a happy hour which was advertised on their website only to be met with a paper sign on the front door stating they were closed on mondays.
Great beer
Have lived in Charleston for 5 years now and have tried every brewery in the area. This is by far the best beer in Charleston. They produce creative but still traditional beer that always brings me back for more. The only downside is that they do not allow dogs. This is quite literally the only reason i visit other breweries. If you look across the street at Edmunds, there are dogs galore and I am sure that more folks would come to Munkle if they were to allow pups. But other than that, this place rocks and I 100% recommend it.

It seems to be hard lately to find a new-ish brewery that produces creative, but traditional craft beers at such a high level. This isn’t hyperbole. This brewery is producing three impressive styles of beer with incredible craft and precision. The Belgian style beers are true to the process and yet adapted to the unique climate of Charleston, SC. The Belgian Brown is drinkable on a hot summer day, but also so wonderfully complex to be paired with a nice filet or some local shrimp and grits. The Pils is German perfection. The two American style ales I tried were also perfect. No pallet wreckers! Craft is alive and well at this brewery and it’s a lovely place to drop in for an afternoon. Can’t wait to come back and try some of the other special offerings at Munkle. Thank you!
Not dog friendly as advertised! Wasted trip there!
Love this place. One of my favorite breweries in Charleston
Stopped in here to try some of the taps listed on Munkle’s web site. The beers on tap did not match the beers on the web site. We wanted to try the barrel aged barley wine and the barrel aged stout. Frustrating when a business develops a web site but doesn’t take the time to keep it current. The beer we did try was okay at best.
Very disappointing. Definitely call before you stop in. As for us we will try some place else.
Good beers.
