Had a great late night meal at this delightful old world, cozy gem restaurant and bar. Menu looked great, but wanted to go light so had beet and goat cheese salad and absolutely delicious mushroom risotto. It's a side dish but is very generous portion. Say hey to Ian who is great storyteller from his Hollywood days to being an evangelist of Muse and lovely Charleston. This restaurant was the only one that fulfilled my vision of what I thought old world Charleston looked like and tasted like. Chk it.

I don’t know how it took us so long to get here. Such a charming place, great service and amazing food. I told them it was my husband’s birthday, and they put us in a private room for much of our time there. One of our new faves in Charleston now!

Such an amazing experience!! Our host/manager Donnie was charming and so full of life! It turned our experience from good to excellent. We let him take charge of ordering our meal for us and it couldn't have turned out better. It turned into a 4 course meal almost tailored for us! Every dish was fabulous and the wine perfectly matched!! The bruschetta, arugula salad ( with a unique cheese melt), bolognese, duck breast, Noah's ark, veg du Jour and Trifle for dessert, all top notch!! Definitely a gem off King St!!
Overall, food was fine. But each dish could be improved with some attention to detail.
Bette cocktail- not enough Chambord. Too much pineapple.
Duck appetizer- carmelized onions should have been served warmer. Flavor profile was good. Meat was tender.
Fettuccine Carbonera- cream sauce was too thick and dish was under salted. Didn't have any wow factor.
Branzino sea bass- deboned whole fish was an interesting presentation. Very under salted. Doesn't pair well with mashed potatoes. Needs more brightness. Cooked well but lacked flavor.
Pomegranate Trifle- the cake was way too dense to be called trifle. Flavor was good. Interesting and creative pairing of pomegranate, pistachio and mascarpone.
Overall, the restaurant needs to step it up to live up to its downtown location, but it serves a decent meal. It's a one and done for me.

We did not appreciate being seated next to a NON STOP loud talker. She never shut her mouth and her companion never said a word. It was very disturbing and very disruptive to what would have been a stellar experience. The pomegranate/pistachio dessert was disappointing. Did not have any pomegranate flavor. The rest of our meal was really very good and our waiter - Andre" was also very good.
Great food, very attentive staff and a cozy feel. This restaurant ticks all the boxes. The food was well presented with reasonable portions. Paired with a good red it was just right. I had their take on swordfish. It was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
This was such a magnificent experience. Not only was the food amazing but Donnie gave us the option to have him select a shared menu based on a few questions he asked about likes, dislikes and allergies. He selected and served everything including our beverages and it was all flavorful, pleasing to the eye and much of what we would have ordered if left to our own devices. I highly recommend this experience,

From the moment he arrived they were ready to seat us and had our table ready with cold water. We had 2 servers take care of us that were attentive and polite. We started with the cheese board that was delicious scraped off every last pieces of cheese off the board and the raspberry chutney was so good. There were 3 of us at the table and we all ordered something different. We ordered the NY strip special the braised short rib and shrimp entree. All were satisfying and enough to take home. The atmosphere was intimate and charming they even wished my Dad a Happy Birthday which he enjoyed the cheese cake. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

We arrived with high expectations, but unfortunately the experience was deeply disappointing from start to finish. It took 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged us to take a drink order. Our waitstaff introduced herself, but we only saw her one other time. She was unable to answer a basic question about the menu and then disappeared entirely until it was time to bring the bill. Another staff member eventually brought our drinks, and then it took an additional 20 minutes for a straightforward appetizer—a cheese tray—to arrive. I ordered a salad that looked hastily thrown together, as if it were slapped into the bowl with little care. After 90 minutes with virtually no table service, we were preparing to leave when our entrées finally appeared. I ordered a duck appetizer that arrived lukewarm, while the other dish was acceptable. At that point, we immediately asked for the bill and a slice of cake to go, hoping to avoid being abandoned again. To make matters worse, the table next to us—who arrived before we did—still had not received their food. We were seated in a room with only four tables, and all of us openly discussed how poor the service was. In truth, there really was no service at all—items were dropped on tables and staff vanished. The question we all left asking was: What happened? This level of disorganization and neglect does not match what one would expect from an establishment like Muse.
Was an amazing experience from top to bottom! When we sat down Don completely took control and ordered it all for us with some great chooses so amazing food and great atmosphere

Cute old house. Food was good but not great. Steak was tough. Sea bass was okay. Lemon cake was a tiny cold lemon muffin sitting in sauce. Waited over 39 minutes for our dessert.
I know I shouldn’t have, but I ordered the carbonara. It was way overcooked and chicken was burnt not blackened. My husband had sea bass which came as the head and not the whole fish. Weird presentation.
It took more than 30 minutes to get appetizers then about 20 minutes after for entrees.
Waitress was shouting at us at one point, it was very odd. I wouldn’t come back. Much better restaurants in Charleston.

A most peculiar place indeed. You'll feel like you're in a Dickens novel. It's dark and is musty but the food was good. I'd be inclined to try someplace else next time I'm in town.
